Midge
What do people think of this? As a massive Star Wars fan I'm not so keen on it, I just can't imagine Princess Leia as a Disney princess. But on the other hand Disney is such a massive global brand the extra money can only do good.
tripsis
To be honest, Disney has so many sides to it other than "Disney princesses." I don't really have an opinion at this point. I'll wait to decide until after the new film comes out. :P 1 - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

D. V. Devnull
Shame on both George Lucas and Walt Disney... It's extremely common knowledge that the less competition we have, the worse the market will get. :wall: ~D. V. "Here comes the unhealthy market..." Sir_Squab
For those who think Disney will [bleep] up Star Wars, remember that disney bought marvel as well. stevepole
I think it was a smart move. He's getting old, so why not sell to possible the best company to perserve your brand to the fullest. I also saw he plans to donate 4 billion, roughly all of the money he sold Lucas films for, to charity.

Kaida23
Exactly. As long as they don't let him write the new new movies I think this will work out well. It's like the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton problem, they're so big and have been so successful together that no one knows how to say "no" to them (case in point, Depp's work in Pirates of the Caribbean vs Alice in Wonderland). Star Wars and Lucas have the same problem, as evidenced by Jar-Jar Binks. :P 2 Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. decebal
Biggest problem that I have with this? Jar-Jar will make a comeback. Disney likes to add comic relief, which is something that I really don't like in my sci-fi epics.
Kaida23
I like a bit of comic relief, and when done properly it can really make the whole thing seem that much better. Of course when it's done wrong, it turns the whole thing into a steaming pile of what the hell? C-3P0 and R2-D2 were a good enough comedy relief for me, and they're good enough for my kids dammit! :P Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. sees_all1
I think Lucas did that for tax purposes. If he sold it in a year, he'd be taxed at a higher rate. Anyhow, Disney will probably release star wars under touchstone. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
Giordano
It's not like I'm upset or anything, Star Wars was pretty down in the gutter with the prequels. old_vuz
I'm pretty much indifferent about this whole deal. If this new Star Wars is as bad or worse than the prequels then I'll just have another movie to forget about. If it's better then I'll have a good movie to watch in 2015. I'm more concerned about it what they're going to do with LucasArts. The ceo of Disney has stated he wants the studio to focus on mobile and social games instead of consoles which I find pretty worrying.
Kaida23
The creator of Blue Milk Special (a hilarious Star Wars spoof webcomic) had this to say about it:  He also brought up a good point about licensing; since Disney owns Marvel, what will this mean for Dark Horse and their almost 20 year license with LucasFilm to make Star Wars comics? Hopefully Disney recognizes the excellent job DH has been doing and will allow them to continue. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. Randox
I'm not sure if the original trilogy will ever be replicated. That said, I think episode 3 at least is proof that George Lucas shouldn't be trying anymore. Disney makes good movies, so even if they can't replicate the feeling of the original trilogy, they can at least give us 3 more great movies, set in the star wars universe, and that's just as good as far as I'm concerned. Obviously final judgement held until I see what they do with it, but Disney is probably the best up for the job, judging by what they have done with the marvel comics.
