Post EoC advice

Hello everyone,

I decided to check out the new RS during the holidays and found out quite much has changed. In fact, mostly everything I knew (aside from runespan) no longer applies. Therefore, I need your advice.

1. What is the best non-degradable weapon and armor combination for each combat style and is it viable for high-level monster/boss killing?

For example, I guess best non-degradable melee weapons would be godswords (which are just as bad as they were) and Korasi + EE[E]. But these don't really work even against low/mid level, melee-weak monsters.

2. What would be the best boss to instakill at the moment?

3. Is there any reason to buy prayer levels or to level it at all?

4. Is it still better (xp/h wise) to do F2P dungeoneering?

5. Do catalytic runes (mind/chaos/death/blood) have any use left? If they do, is it even worth the cost?

1. Vine Whip + EEE is good.

2. Nex or QBD.

3. Yes. Get 95 if you don't already for both SS and the Turm/alternatives.

4. Yes. F2P DG was recently updated. It is on par with P2P to some extent.

5. Kind of, depends if you use Lunar or Ancients. Keep some banked anyway.

Slash - Godswords. If you want to use momentum - Vine Whip + EEE

Stab - Zammy Spear

Crush - Saradomin Sword

Magic - not really sure but I go with staves - Armadyl Battlestaff. The difference in here is only the accuracy, since the damage is spell-based.

Ranged - I dont think Royal crossbow counts as a degradable ... I mean you have to recharge it but it's not money related.

Expanding upon this:

Ranged Crossbow/Bolt - Royal does technically degrade so I guess you'd be looking at Dragon

Arrow - Darkbow is highest non-degrade I believe, but kinda slow cause its a shield bow.

Thrown - No issues with degradation here for for sagies

There is currently either a glitch with the royal Crossbow that it does not degrade, or else it degrades extremely slowly (by extremely, I mean extremely. I have done 5 fight kilns with royal crossbow and a bunch of other slayer tasks without it going down a single %).

Dragon Crossbow is complete and utter trash, either the 2h or the 1h version. Karil's Crossbow/Black Salamander are MUCH better choices. Karil has degrade cost, but its repair would take years, literally, to beat Dragon Crossbow (and add to the fact that you CANNOT resell the dragon crossbow). Black Salamander's Ammo is on the rise, but the weapon itself does not degrade, and costs literal pennies.

Crystal Bow is also good, it degrades, but abilities do not degrade it, so it degrades slower (and thus cheaper) than one would expect it to. Bows lose their luster after T60.

Expanding upon 2h, 2h Melee and especially ranged are currently far superior to Dual Wield or 1h/Shield combo pretty much everywhere except against bosses, which 1h/Shield is useful. Dual Wield is used only for momentum, and momentum's damage is inferior compared to using Abilities. Using abilities, 2h beats DW by miles because of 2h's AoE and the lack of abilities from DW that uses both hands for damage. To add salt upon the wound, most 2h are average or slower, and 1h are fast or faster, which means proportionally more and less damage per hit respectively, skewing the balance even further.

So as of now, Godswords are literally the best 2h slash weapons in the game, and they are good. I have yet to regret purchasing any of the 2h GWD weapons, and I very often regret things.

Also lastly, Armadyl Battlestaff also provides free air runes (the only staff T70 or higher), unlike Polypore, SoL or even chaotic staff.

Best non-degrading ranged weapons are god bows (T70 shieldbows) and armadyl crossbow (T70 crossbow). I don't think they're worth it. Hand cannon (T75 crossbow) does not degrade, but it can explode, though it's rare and it's only like 10k despite being an amazing weapon.

The chance to explode ruins the weapon in my eyes, since my luck will dictate that it will always explode at the worst possible moment.

At least Royal Crossbow is more stable
