Noxx
It's been quite a while since i've really done any PvM, and i really haven't done much PvM in EoC in general. So i had a few things i have been wondering about. When killing something like a GWD boss what would be the best way of doing so?Is it better to try and time my Abilities with my Auto Attacks? Is it better to spam Abilities till i can start doing Threshold Abilities and then start trying to time my Abilities with my Auto Attacks? Or is it best to just Ability Spam the whole time? If i didn't make it very clear this is basically what i mean: Option 1: Basic + Auto > Basic + Auto > Basic + Auto > Auto + Threshold > Auto + BasicOption 2: Basic > Basic > Basic > Auto + Threshold > Auto + Basic > Auto + BasicOption 3: Basic > Basic > Basic > Threshold > Basic > Basic > Basic
Mylez
Auto > Basic > Auto > Stun > Basic > Auto > Basic > Threshold : ] That's my usual method on EOC.
chenw
Spam Abilities until threshold, especially if you are dual wielding. Auto attacks for me are extremely rare (and the fact that they generate 1/3 as much adrenaline as abilities). THere are more than enough basics in the game to chain abilities indefinitely. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Quyneax
Avoid autoattacks. Avoid stuns unless your target is stun immune (most bosses are, though KK reacts violently to stuns, so best to limit them there). Avoid DoT attacks unless your target is high health (Frag Shot requires at least 3 hits and is the most forgiving DoT, but Dismember and Combust both take 6? hits which means your target probably needs 10k+ health for the DoT to be worth it). Noxx
Yeah i was going to mention that i don't have the money for Drygores, Virtus Wand/Book, or that new Crossbow yet, so i still use Chaotics for Melee and Mage and a Royal Xbow for Ranged which means most of my PvM is 2 handed. Not sure if that makes any big difference on whether or now i should allow for auto attacks or now.
jayc3399
Never worry about timing for auto attacks, follow what I said previously and spam abilities to maximize dps. chenw
As archer said, it is possible, and easy, to chain abilities back to back without pausing, so if you do end up waiting for an ability, you probably tripped up somewhere. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Quyneax
A note about the 5s abilities: You should avoid them if you can, except Concentrated Blast. Punish especially is very bad, Dazing Shot and Sonic Wave are meh, that 5s dw range basic is ok if used before Rapid Fire I guess. Use the best abilities you can, provided that your rotation is full. That usually means (auto >) Slice > Dismember > Slice > Sever > Slice > Smash/Cleave/Decimate > (Slice >) Assault and then during Assault your cooldowns are hopefully done. chenw
I am personally not a fan of the 5 second channeled abilities, sure, they do more damage per ability, but you also generate less adrenaline (quite a bit less) and I tend to try and get thresholds asap. I dont know which is actually better though, but I doubt Concentrated blast is better than instant basics 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Quyneax
You only have to get up to tresholds once per trip, so that's not really an issue. Concentrated Blast deals 300% damage compared to Sonic Blast at 120%. I think it's pretty obvious that having twice the damage output beats getting another 4% adrenaline. By the way, Concentrated Blast isn't channeled, it's a combo attack. It doesn't stop you from moving like Asphyxiate does. chenw
Unless I mis used concentrated blast, I tried it at barrows and here is what I concluded: I was comparing Dual cast wind surge with Ahrim's Wand vs ABS. Concentrated blast hit for maybe 1500 per hit, for 3 hits, which is roughly what I would hit for if I cycled Wrack and Sonic blast. Concentrated blast still stopped casting as soon as I moved. I was killing barrow brothers much slower than I was with ABS (I ran out of prayer before I got to the tunnels with Dual wield, I am able to make it to tunnels with at least 200 prayer without using adrenaline stallers). Can one enlighten me where I am doing wrong? I remain convinced that Concentrated blast is overrated, unless I am taking it out of context. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Saradomin_Mage
I break concentrated blast after the second shot, so I get 2 hits of it in 4 ticks, before returning to my normal cycle. You could think about it as a 200% damage ability that takes 4 ticks instead of a standard 3 tick ability. e: actually come to think of it, I think you can get the first two shots off from concentrated blast in 3 ticks, which would make it a 200% ability. Need to check in game. Other problem: If you use t70 wand/book dw, your spell ability damage is going to be less than when using ABS In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers. Quyneax
Yeah, you have to compare Ahrim's wand + Book to Ahrim's staff for instance, and you need to be sure to stack a hit with the final hit of Conc. Blast, like you do with Asphyxiate. 1 Supporter of Zaros | Quest Cape owner since 22 may 2010 | No skills below 99 | Total level 2595 | Completionist Cape owner since 17th June 2013 | Suggestions 99 summoning (18th June 2011, previously untrimmed) | 99 farming (14th July 2011) | 99 prayer (8th September 2011) | 99 constitution (10th September 2011) | 99 dungeoneering (15th November 2011) 99 ranged (28th November 2011) | 99 attack, 99 defence, 99 strength (11th December 2011) | 99 slayer (18th December 2011) | 99 magic (22nd December 2011) | 99 construction (16th March 2012) 99 herblore (22nd March 2012) | 99 firemaking (26th March 2012) | 99 cooking (2nd July 2012) | 99 runecrafting (12th March 2012) | 99 crafting (26th August 2012) | 99 agility (19th November 2012) 99 woodcutting (22nd November 2012) | 99 fletching (31st December 2012) | 99 thieving (3rd January 2013) | 99 hunter (11th January 2013) | 99 mining (21st January 2013) | 99 fishing (21st January 2013) 99 smithing (21st January 2013) | 120 dungeoneering (17th June 2013) | 99 divination (24th November 2013) Tormented demon drops: twenty effigies, nine pairs of claws, two dragon armour slices and one elite clue | Dagannoth king drops: two dragon hatchets, two elite clues, one archer ring and one warrior ring Glacor drops: four pairs of ragefire boots, one pair of steadfast boots, six effigies, two hundred lots of Armadyl shards, three elite clues | Nex split: Torva boots | Kalphite King split: off-hand drygore mace 30/30 Shattered Heart statues completed | 16/16 Court Cases completed | 25/25 Choc Chimp Ices delivered | 500/500 Vyrewatch burned | 584/584 tasks completed | 4000/4000 chompies hunted
