Runesearch10 Posted February 12, 2006 Share Posted February 12, 2006 You know what, i have worked over 72 hours to get my whip and some other items, and yet again i have been hacked. I have told no one my password or anything. JAGEX YOU NEED TO GET YOUR STUFF STRAIGHT!....If they have a game for people to play they need to have the right protection for us. I am sick of doing all this work and it all going to waste. Now, i have never had a problem with Jagex, but this is getting really annoying. Runescape is a hobby of mine. I am so tired of people who have to be so desperate to where they have to hack instead of work for themselves!! This is stupid! I believe Jagex should start working forth keeping OUR BUSINESS and OUR ACCOUNTS safe from hackers. Also something i wish to add to my post before hand is i think MEMBERS should have some type of protection. IF WE PAY TO PLAY THIS GAME WE SHOULD HAVE SAFETY TO OUR ACCOUNTS! Please, anyone if you are against this feel free to leave a post with your opinion. I believe that if we pay them to play a game they should keep us more protected. Now your friend...hmm...NEEDS HELP! I personally would keep him banned. If he kills himself over a game then he will burn in hell. Suicide is a simple way to run away from life. I think the responsibility lies on the player, not Jagex. Sounds like you have a keylogger on your computer (since you've been hacked multiple times?). Invidious Posted February 12, 2006 Share Posted February 12, 2006 There is NO way to hack RS. To hack it you would have to access the mainframe computer down at Jagex. That means dodging through building security, hacking the computer which is most likely protected by the latest in cyber protection then you have to insert/change several files all without the computer itself noticing. Even if someone succeeded in hacking the mainframe remotely (Which may actually be possible as direct connections are kept valid during updates. Hence we ave the famous Dupe of July and Dupe of December) They would most likely ignore other accounts and directly change/edit their own stats/info/gp/items. How can I can keep my account safe for so long, and you can't? Maybe you should take the resbonsibility of protecting you system, instead of hoping for Jagex for taking care of your responsibilities. Keep you virus program updated, and make sure you check your system every so often for keyloggers etc... Those autoers must access the files from jagex, and then do stuff to the program and code to be able to affect the character. Knock on wood too :D I've been hacked twice within one week a couple years ago, but that was soon after I had gotten my account back from me giving it away :? Speaking of knocking on wood... A couple months ago I was talking to my friend at lunch, and we were talking about something and downloading came into the converstaion, and he was like "you download too much stuff man you're gonna end up with a bunch of viruses and all". I was like "nah, it'll never happen", well when I got home that day, my computer wouldnt turn on :lol: I called my manufacturer's tech support, and those crooked salesmen tried to get me to buy a brand new hard drive. Jagex provides many security measures to prevent scams and hacks including complex recovery questions, the new bank PIN system, etc. They've provided more security options than I have seen on other MMORPGs. Your computer security may not be up to par as you can't "randomly" be hacked without having visited a bad website relating to RuneScape cheats/etc., having outdated security, having sent a response to a scam e-mail, etc. First step? Fortifying your computer and become more security aware. I don't think hacking is fair at all so no one is blaming you for what has happened.. but there is simply no way you can be hacked out of the blue (and it certainly is NOT Jagex's fault). Second step? Believe it or not, scammers troll our forums and look for people who decide to leave their e-mail viewable to everyone. Why do you think we take such measures regarding scam e-mails? Turn your profile e-mail option OFF and don't advertise your many methods of communication. Doing so makes you easy prey for scammers. Again, sorry for your loss but hopefully you can prevent this from happening again.
