Samaster
Hello all, I have come back after a short break to max again. I was going to take a break from Divination and kill some bosses but I realised that I had been out of the PvM game for quite some time as I had devoted all of my energies to maxing before I took my break. So my questions are: 1. What are the best armours and weapons for: a, Solo: Bandos, Zammy, Sara, Armady. Team: Nex and Vorago b, Slayer: Melee, Range and Mage c, Barrows 2. Are POP armours still the best defensive and Nex armours still best offensive? 3. I heard they removed the set effects for the Nex armours, is this true? 4. For an ideal gear set, should I buy (If money is not a factor)? e.g. Full Nex set (armours and weapons) + Drygores? Or are there better options? tl;dr ~ Armour and Weapons, what is the best of each class? Cheers :)
Quyneax
1.a. I believe that's seasinger, seasinger, seasinger and death lotus. Tetsu also works. For teams, I'm not sure, other than that you can get away with Nex gear at Nex and not so much at Vorago.b. Either Nex or GWD, depending on how much you want to spend on repairs. Nex probably isn't worth the cash.c. Same as b, if going for max damage with a couple of switches, or war-priest (level 75 hybrid) for simplicity. 2. Yes. 3. Yes. 4. Drygores, certainly, and ascension bows if you can. Seismic is extremely expensive, a couple of billion gp, but get that too if you can. If you can't get level 90 weapons anymore, spend the rest of your cash on nex sets. Samaster
Awesome, Thanks for the reply. So mage is the best for solo gwd other than armadyl? How long has Seismic been out? Is there a chance the price will drop as more come into the game? IS it worth getting if its only that and mage armour I would be able to get? RSDwaynee
Pretty much yeah mage is the best for solo'ing GWD bosses not incl. Armadyl, out of personal preference though I would melee Bando. Seismics came out with the release of Vorago so about 2 months now, I can't see the price dropping below 1b ever tbh... Trimmed Completionist 8th October 2014 | Check out my blog Here. Samaster
Ok, Seismic is 1988m/820m at the moment... I cant justify spending all that on just one set of weapons. I think this is going to be my best bet (please contradict me if there are better options) Melee: Torva - Helm, Chest, Legs. Steadfast boots? Pneumatic gloves? Drygore... Rapier? Longswords? Maces? Range: Pernix - Cowl, Chest, Chaps. Glaiven boots? Tracking gloves? Zaryte bow? (460m for both Ascension cbows... Again, too much) Mage: Virtus - Mask, Robe top, Robe legs. Ragefire boots? Static gloves? Virtus wand and book? Does this look good enough?
chenw
All nex sets should have their respective Gloves and boots. Drygore Maces are the best, if you can do QBD, Royal Crossbow is much more cost effective than Zaryte bow (though I still highly recommend getting ascension crossbows, but the price on that shouldn't be 460m, should be closer to 330m, you don't wield 2 mainhand crossbows). Virtus wand and book yes. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Samaster
Im getting the prices from '90 weaps pc' they said something like 240m / 220m (mh/oh). If I where to get them, what bolts should I use? Is there any reason for using their gloves and boots?
chenw
Ascension Bolts for Asc crossbows, otherwise Royal bolts for all other crossbows. Boots and gloves have damage with them, and defense on Glacor boots and Automaton gloves are far too small to matter (if it did matter, since nex armor defenses are mostly good enough unless you are bossing). The set 'effects' of Nex armor, IIRC, was just simply added damage when the entire set was worn, which made it worse than what they are now (they spread the damage on the effect onto the pieces themselves). 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. There is no longer a set bonus on Nex gears, the use of Glacor boots, Automaton gloves & a different style helmet is good for changing/ adjusting your weakness (which is what gives a noticeable defence boost), so if your not in any immediate competition for maximum dps then the Nex boots & gloves aren't really that necessary, they cost way more than there worth too imo. Btw ascensions are a great buy, shame about the price but doubt that will ever change given how there made :P Trimmed Completionist 8th October 2014 | Check out my blog Here. chenw
I'd somewhat agree with you on Glacor boots, but Automaton gloves cost almost as much as or more than Nex gloves, so Nex gloves are better buy in those cases. If i were really to be blunt though, I'd use PoP armor legs over Nex armor legs, and use Nex gloves and boots instead, the stat difference on the gloves and boots added together is nowhere near the stat difference between nex bottom and PoP bottom. Long Story short, from Damage point of view, Nex gloves are better than Auto/Glacors. From economics point of view, PoP bottom with Nex Gloves and Boots are better buys than Nex bottoms and Auto/Glacors. Edit: All mentions of the PoP armors mentioned above assume Superior Versions, Normal versions are not worth using over nex armor. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Samaster
How bad are the defencive capabilitys of the nex sets? Would solo bandos be too short a trip in full torva?
Quyneax
Ports is level 85 defence.Nex is level 75 defence and has a damage boost. It's simply damage equal to 10% of a fastest-speed main-hand weapon of that level (chaotic claw @ 768 damage, torva @ 74 probably due to rounding). You should be able to kill Graar wearing Torva no problem. PolarBearBlue
Sorry to jump in but I thought Nex armor had a defense rating of 80, not 75? In what update did this recently change? Quyneax
Ever since the armour differentiation, you have roughly this: 1. Armour bonus from defence level (30% to all styles).2. Armour bonus from armour (distribution depends on armour).3. Distribution of armour bonus across the three combat styles. Armour has three types:1. Tank: full defence and lp boost for their level. 100% to strong style, ~60% to same style, ~30% to weak style.2. Power: defence and lp equal to tank armour five levels lower, damage bonus equal to 10% of a fastest-speed main-hand weapon of the same level. Same def distribution as tank.3. Hybrid: def and hp equal to tank armour 15 levels lower, no attack penalties for any style, 60% defence to all styles. Distribution is pretty simple:1. If unarmoured, you get the base 30% to all styles. So unarmoured and 1000 armour bonus gives you 300 armour bonus vs. each style.2. If armoured, take the average distribution and multiply that into the armour value. So having a 100/60/30 distribution and 1000 armour, you get 1000/600/300 armour vs. appropriate styles. If you have one piece 100/60/30 and one piece 30/100/60 with 1000 armour you'll get 65/80/45 average, which works out to 650/800/450. If you have one piece 100/60/30 and one piece hybrid 60/60/60 at 1000 armour, you get 80/70/45, or 800/700/450 armour bonus. Of course, with the low stats that hybrid armour typically has, getting that 1000 armour will be pretty tough.
