WRITE FOR THE TIMES - SUBMIT A GUEST ARTICLE:

Remember, YOU can write an article for the Tip.It Times! You can apply to write full time, or just submit a "one-off" guest article any time you want! Our editors will work with you to ensure that your article is ready for publication. All guest articles can be submitted to @tripsis or any other Editorial Panel member. For more information, including details on how to apply full time, read this forum thread: http://forum.tip.it/topic/209138-how-to-write-for-the-tipit-times/

I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads:

[hide=Read these rules before posting in this thread]

Rampant flame wars have taken control of virtually every week's times discussion topics. The following guidelines must be followed when posting on this topic. Posts that ignore these guidelines will be removed.

1. You are invited and welcome to express like or dislike on articles and a particular author's writing style. It is not acceptable, however, to flame or personally insult an author. Posts that aren't anything but an attack will be removed from the topic.

2. Spelling and grammar errors can be reported to tripsis by PMing her and they will be fixed promptly. It is not necessary to post them on the discussion topic.

3. Off topic posts that do not discuss the content of that week's articles will be removed. This is not the place to discuss the direction of the times, how much you love or hate the times, etc. Off topic posts will be removed.

By keeping within these guidelines, Times discussion topics will mean more for the Panel and Administration than just a place for flame wars. Flame wars do not provide any useful feedback to the Times, which is mainly what we're aiming for with these topics: feedback.

This policy is effective as of now, November 17, 2010. Any posts prior to the creation of this policy may or may not be removed according to the new guidelines.

[/hide]

[hide=Submitting Crossword Puzzles]If you want to submit your own crossword puzzle, it's quite simple.

Simply provide a word list (about 10-20 words) with their corresponding clues. Then, message @The Floating Pen with the word list and it will eventually be published in the Tip.it Times![/hide]

When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks!

If you spot any typos or mistakes in an article then please PM them to @tripsis. :)

Enjoy the articles!

Nice, well written articles.

I myself have not volunteered to write an article about this, since beyond my higher regard of the average RS player then the numbers by AJgex suggest I should have i don't actually have a fully formed opinion.  The Subject is too complicated. Reading the articles did help a bit.

Like the first I do not believe at all this will stop goldsellers.. and since I do not believe Jagex is ran by idiots they know that.

I also do not believe Jagex numbers, not only the one disproven by the author, but the others. No way does 40+ % of players buy gold. I do not believe Jagex can actually know the true number that exactly either. If they could actually track these things they should have taken the iligal money bought + a fine. That would quickly make goldselling undoable, without bannign the players and losing revenue.

An other if.. if I am wrong and over 40% of players did buy gold, then there is something else seriously wrong: that means Jagex can NOT detect jack doo doo.. because  that big a part of the RS populous would not take a risk with their account.  Maybe I am naive, also because I make my feelings about cheating quite clear.. I might not get told about it much..

Whatever the case.. it is a mess!

Almost as big as the mess of words I am making rambling on here..

Where I do not believe the problem addressed by the second article will likely become as urgent as written there, I do totally agree Jagex is borrowing against the future..again.. I must admit, I had not thought of that part yet, but it makes sense.  And yes, its is 'again' they already sold a load of long term subscriptions to many of us, including  me that were payed in advance.  It is logical they need money to operate, but I keep having this nagging thought in the back of my mind that this is more about paying large dividends to investors then about improving and running the game.  Not something unprecedented in modern business, is it?

Like several of my earlier articles have claimed I believe this game of ours is not altogether healthy, since it is topheavy, lacking a big enough influx of new players. These kinds of developments and drawing a lot of money out of the game will not help!

Desperate times bring desperate measures.

Runefest next year, a couple of hundred spins and a lifetime membership are indeed sitting in my bank.

The worst part about it is they put the game on the Grand Exchange, home of the Ponzi scheme and short-sellers galore.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

@Ts_Stormrage and @sees_all1, your articles this time get two thumbs up from me.

Jagex has definitely taken a shotgun to their foot, and they haven't felt the pain from it yet. :twss:
