Remove the buying limit from the grand exchange.

(EDIT: Disregard what I said here, I made a big deal out of nothing and made myself a moron.)

You know what I find very annoying? When I buy a shit ton of items, but have to wait often at least a day until I can get all the items I bought.

I remember one time I bought 500K air runes but I had to wait over 2 days.

Is any good reason for this? Nope, not at all.

If I have the money to buy a large amount of items I should be able to do that.

I'm tired of only being able to buy some amount of the items I'm buying at a time. The buy limit on the grand exchange needs to be eliminated as soon as possible.

You used 500k air runes in 2 days? Blimey that's a lot of spells cast. Congratulations on that xp. /s

The limits are to prevent the gaming of the system by individuals sucking up all of a particular resource all at once.

Nope, I didn't use them all at once, in fact I still have a lot of leftovers out of these that I bought over two years ago.

Alright how would that even be possible? People are selling items like runite ores, air runes and coals all the time, there is never a time no one is selling these commonly used items.

It's to stop people from buying out the entire market of an item themselves. In the first few weeks of the GE, there was one person (I think he/she is/was a member of TIF) who essentially held the entire fire rune market. If a single person can control one of the most traded items in the game, something's wrong. Do you remember the days when clans could make items unbuyable for weeks? It wouldn't be that bad because the price limits are gone, but imagine having to pay 200gp for an air rune because I decided I wanted to buy out the entire stock, which would be incredibly easy.

Yes, it's a minor inconvenience to only get 25k runes per 4 hours, but most limits are higher than the rate at which you can use them, especially when you factor in buys which occur while offline.

Alright, I am willing to admit you do make a very good point.

I still find having to wait to be pretty annoying, but I can live with that.

Place an offer in the GE for 1 billion air runes at 200gp each. Every air rune in the GE under that price, say 500 million, will go to fulfill your offer. Then your offer sits there, sucking up the next 500 million air runes sold to the GE for less than 200gp, which at current trade volumes would be about 2 weeks. Now if people want to buy air runes, they have to pay over 200gp. You just single handedly made air runes for up 700% in a matter of seconds.

As long as you have enough GP to buy up all the unsold stock of an item you can pretty much control that item.

Oh my god, I'm a moron. I made a rant at the top of my head without even knowing what the hell I'm talking about.

I don't make stupid posts intentionally, there is no excuse for this thread.

But at the same time I'm glad I made it, because the replies did give me some useful information. Doesn't change the fact that making this thread made me a moron.

Don't worry about it. Very few people understand just how easy it was/is to manipulate prices on the GE given absurd amount of money. Just think of it as a learning experience. That's why we're here.

Yeah that's true.

It's all to easy to forget there are a good number of players rich enough in raw gp that they can afford to buy like 100+ of even the very top end items like drygores for merching.

Plus if you weren't around pre-buy limits to experience the market manipulations first hand that saw very common goods impossible to buy until they went up like 800% value its easy to not really think of it happening.

While I don't believe in getting rid of the limits completely, as they are meant as safeguards, I can think of a number of cases where adjusting the limits a bit might make things more reasonable. It doesn't seem like that kind of a rework is in Jagex's plans, though.

Some limits are pretty dumb. Remove the boxed armour sets from G.E. listing while keeping a 2/4hour limit on treasure trail equipment?

Well, I no longer feel like a moron for making this thread, I'm glad I brought some interesting discussion by making this thread.

I too would like the GE limits to be removed.

Because there are people in the game who have the amassed wealth to monopolize certain resources. If that honestly happened in what is supposed to be a fun game, then Runescape would be dead in a matter of months.

The reason for this buying limit is to prevent players from substantially affecting the price of any1 object to prevent them from essentially becoming billionaires over night...

But i agree it does suck when you need to buy a large supply of something.

exactly, if somebody buys all of the things, it might change the price of the items, and there has to be some way how to control supply and demand in the game.
