Mercifull
IE is needed for windowsupdate.com and for the odd few websites which are badly coded. Useful to keep, and yeah you cant really uninstall it anyway Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Pete_the_Viscous
I'd certainly keep it anyway: it's useful for checking if the inevitable problems are with firefox or the internet. deviantart account
dwarfie76
IE is pretty much tied to the windows operating system (after the big antitrust case where Netscape tried to sue Microsoft for bundling IE with Windows, Microsoft said "no wait, it's really part of the operating system" - and so they made it such that the IE control is now pretty much an integral part) That said, for web browsing you can easily set Firefox to be your default browser and hide the IE shortcuts. I use Firefox for all my web browsing, but I develop applications that run using IE because that's what most corporates have on their desktop SOE. weezcake
I use firefox for everything except for those pesky websites that don't work with anything except for IE (the FAFSA website, for example). There's also an extension you can download to open the current page from FF in IE. :) ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring. Oh and if im supposed to put this in a different forum a mod can lock this. Firefox crashes ALL THE FREAKING TIME when I'm on Myspace. So frustrating :x :x Other than that, it's pretty cool. I guess it has more "security" than IE from what I've heard. Also the ocasional times I use tabs is kind of cool. weezcake
If you click a link with the mouse wheel, it opens up the link in a tab. Vape
Well everything's prettymuch been covered here but I just have to post anyway :D I was just wondering if I would still have internet explorer if i did download it.I'm unsure if you meant can you still use Firefox and IE at the same time, in which case the answer is most certainly yes. You don't have to worry about Firefox taking over your operating system - Mozilla are the good guys :) You gotta keep IE for windows updates but regardless, it's very difficult to remove it from your Windows operating system - I wouldn't reccomend attempting it. Also, is Firefox good?Of course Firefox is good! :D It's teh awesome ^_^ As in does it crash a lot/ a little or never?I get very few crashes with Firefox. The occasional crash I've experienced is usually caused by a 3rd party extension - and most people find Firefox to be quite fine without any extensions at all. As far as crashes go, I find windows crashes more often when I'm doing other stuff, not browsing the web. And help is appreciated, thanks.Any Firefox related questions you've got - feel free to ask :) The tech & comptuers board is probably the best place, or just drop me a pm. What about security tho? Speed is only a minor pro to using FF over IE Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Schwarzenegger
Personally, I have no idea why everyone tealks of firefox's speed. I've never noticed a noticeable difference between the two :? s4nder
Opera is supposed to be the fastest browser iirc. Firefox has great extensibility though and is much more secure than IE.
db26
Opera is supposed to be the fastest browser iirc. Firefox has great extensibility though and is much more secure than IE. I can vouch for Opera's speed. I've used both and ultimately prefer Opera. I do like that anyone can create an extension for it. A pretty nice feature. I wouldn't really say Firefox is more secure than Opera though. Mainly because many more people are using Firefox than Opera, thus most attacks will be directed towards Firefox or IE users. Maybe in theory it is more secure, but not in practice.
