February 26, 200620 yr Latelty, i see a lot of topics pro/anti the so called rare items. I started thinking about it, and i came to this conclusion. The question i asked myself is: Why do people buy rare items? The answer was simple, not only rares give a good view of the financial situation of your character (read: rich) but also it's a good investment. Since the prices are always rising, people become richer without doing anything. But still, why would somebody put 100+ million in a party hat instead of saving it up for later? Simple. The 100 million in the bank stays 100 mil, but the party hat bought for 100 mil will be worth 110 mil after a few months etc. Solution? JAGeX should make saving money in bank more profitable. Why not work with interest? Like 5 ÃÆÃâÃâà10 % on money. That way, if you invest a lot of money it'll become a big sum soon, and the rares would be useless. -Small comment, since RuneScape isn't real life, i'd suggest that every month you could get that interest or even every week. Comments?
February 26, 200620 yr Theres already too much money in RS without jagex making ways to add more, they need a money drain, not this.

Yep, this is only gonna make rares rise even faster. The reason why rares are a good investement is because they don't suffer from the inflation rate, while gp does. What you suggest only makes the inflation rate higher, thus making rares even more interesting as investement. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+.

February 26, 200620 yr Yeh Duke_Freedom is right, haven'tyou ever read about what happened to Germany in 1920? Hyper inflation! Money becomes worthless, you'd end up ruining the Runescape economy!
February 26, 200620 yr yeah lol, I remember my history book, there was a picture of German lil dudes playing with tons of 1000 mark notes. They made a mountain out of them lol Visit my Runescape comedy website, based on in-game screenshots.
February 26, 200620 yr You don't want to inflate the RS money that quickly. Pretty soon rares will be 10x the price. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.

February 26, 200620 yr It might not be such a bad idea, maybe 1% per week? However, you should not be able to leave your account for a year and come back to find a huge amount of gold.
February 26, 200620 yr Maybe taxes would be a good idea. You could pay a income tax on however much money you made that day (or month, whichever), and a sales tax on whatever you buy in a store. :) OoC Overseer Eet mor kabbig!

February 26, 200620 yr You're lucky you edited your post so fast scottdoggz88. I was about to call you an idiot and what not. :D Anyway, Duke (+ frizoid) is, like usual, right :) When i first read it i though: good idea, but then frizoid (and later duke) responded and, well you know. February 26, 200620 yr Or you could sell party hats in a specialty shop for 150 mil each...along with the rest of the rares at set prices.... Would piss off a lot of greedy people...but who cares?
February 26, 200620 yr Or you could sell party hats in a specialty shop for 150 mil each...along with the rest of the rares at set prices.... Would piss off a lot of greedy people...but who cares? What would be the point in that? they dont hurt the economy and if you cant afford rares you have no need to bother with them. I think the big problem now is more and more people want rares cause they see the raise in price

I think the big problem now is more and more people want rares cause they see the raise in price I like living in the past where the most expensive item cost 300 nature runes. Seeing party hats go for 150 million gp(which is more money than was in the entire GAME when I had started) kind of ruins it for me. I dunno, I've just never been a fan of overpriced items.
February 26, 200620 yr Maybe taxes would be a good idea. You could pay a income tax on however much money you made that day (or month, whichever), and a sales tax on whatever you buy in a store. :) Uh... Runescape is supposed to be fun and take your mind off real life. A lot of people would quit if they had to pay taxes. And to whoever said that people just want rares so they can sell them for a profit, that's not completely true. My dream is to own full zamorak armour and a red party hat, (Unrealistic, I know) and when (if) I get it, I am going to wear it everywhere! (Except the wildy, dungeons, etc.)
