February 26, 200620 yr I just think recent movie makers just make movies just to become insanely rich.. Theres no passion in most movies today, its just another chance to blow loads of money on special graphics advertising and high payed actors.. Of course there are still some great movies being made but most of the time are just shadowed by the likes of King Kong, Chronicals of Narnia, Fantastic four etc.. Initially looked like it could be pretty good, but I couldn't help thinking, what a waste of time, whilst walking out the cinema.. I think they should just start thinking up better scripting before they go wasting their cash.. But I do believe the animation side of filming today is really good, the likes of Pixar, Aardman Animations and Disney are really shining.. Though is being outdone by 3d films atm.. As I want to be a cartoonist animator when I leave university, is not good for me  .. Superman's said to be a new film coming out soon, and im not that convinced it'll be any good.. :? What are your views? Do you prefer amazing graphics? do you miss instant classics?
February 26, 200620 yr There are thousands of low-budget, art-house, and even not-as-big type of movies that you can see instead. Or rent some classics (there's thousands of them). It's not like their forcing it down you're throat. And they do it because that's what the masses want to see. The masses are happy, they make their money, and then you can go see some movie more to your taste, which there is probably no shortage of.
February 26, 200620 yr Author Well they tend to recreate old movies, and make new ones from comics, super heros etc.. You expect with such a good idea you'd get a good movie, they advertise em like hell tempting you to watch, then disappoint ya.. Im not saying im expecting every movie to be excellent, and no theyre not forcing them down my throat.. But say if they were to finally make a Dragon Ball z movie, it would be amazing news to me as I initially watched it from the first episodes on Dragonball, long before it became a fad.. I'd expect it to be a good film if they spend loads of money on it, there needs to be a balance.. And who are 'the masses'?? People don't beg to see crap expensive movies, they want good movies, with better graphics should have good or better scripting. Yes there are classics I can rent, and I do.. But im just sad seeing the future classics are getting dominated by basically, bad movies..

February 26, 200620 yr And who are 'the masses'?? People don't beg to see crap expensive movies, they want good moviesNo they don't... Look at the top 10 grossing movies of last year. Save for Revenge of the Sith, which deserves it (because it's good, and you have to consider it's roots), all those movies are big, high budget movies, many of which have questionable degrees of excellence...

February 27, 200620 yr And you realize why those are the top 10 grossing movies? Their hype. Yeah, maybe some of them were good, but they were incredibly hyped, so everyone went to see it.

And you realize why those are the top 10 grossing movies? Their hype. Yeah, maybe some of them were good, but they were incredibly hyped, so everyone went to see it. Brokeback Mountain had huge hype...It was on all the headlines, it had big lead roles, it stirred up controversy, there was lots of commercials for it...And its grosses were like a 5th what the bigger movies last year made. That's why people big, flashy movies. To make money. And while I can't say I'd do the same, I can definately see why movie execs want to live in mansions...
February 27, 200620 yr Yes...Because there are about 1000x more kids/young adults...And one that appeals to them will make that much more money. And we have better taste, for the most part. :P Brokeback Mountain had huge hype...It was on all the headlines, it had big lead roles, it stirred up controversy, there was lots of commercials for it...And its grosses were like a 5th what the bigger movies last year made. Er... All of my friends said that Brokeback was amazing. And I believed them because Jake Gyllenhaal is a fabulous actor. But that doesn't mean it will make more money than a bigger movie. Which it didn't...It did Not bad, but not as much as a humongous blockbuster...
February 27, 200620 yr i'll stick to my indie films.. and my old films that predate 1995' silent films are good too :P
February 27, 200620 yr Disney is going back to it's roots and is going to release a new animation movie using their old style of animating. What you also might find very interesting. A Scanner Darkly http://img12.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc ... anner1.jpg http://img21.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc ... anner3.jpg http://img13.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc ... anner4.jpg They also make movies outside of Hollywood, and even in between all those plastic movies made in Hollywood there are great movies still made. Movie making in Hollywood has always been done for the money, it has been like that in '42 with Casablanca, and in 2005 with The Chronicles of Narnia. Of course 'the masses' like easy Hollywood movies better than some kind of akward dialogueless movie from Korea, or any other 'complicating' way of translating feelings to the screen. 'The masses' want to see what they want. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
February 27, 200620 yr terley i dont see what you want, you say you are sick of super-hero movies and re-make movies, yet a dragon ball z movie would be both lol.... and there is heaps more movies then just re-makes and super hero's... Jarhead good movie...saw it the other night with my cousin, we took booze with us, we didnt get caught...but the movie didnt need it..we thought it was a classic war movie with lots of guns and blood and guts but it wasnt...it was deep man As: Dontknowyet -157 R.Rs: Dontknowyet - 38 Bigboybad - 104
February 27, 200620 yr Does anyone else think that A Scanner Darkly has an eerily similar plot to The Three, from Adaptation? lol Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. And all because of what? Because it challenges one of the few remaining American macho, alpha-male images: The Cowboy. If you actually sat down, watched the film and took the relationship out of context, you'd see that Brokeback Mountain was nothing more than Will & Grace...except funnier. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
