February 28, 200620 yr This is really starting to annoy me, have you ever had a big company that you had to deal with that just completelely ignored you? Bellsouth has pushed me to the edge. I called about 2 years ago to complain about still having dial-up, and they told me that in 6 months I should have broadband...then 6 more..etc I only live around 1 mile from a town of 10,000 so I don't see the problem they are having. I've tried everything from calling the mayor to writing letters to Bellsouth, what would you do?
February 28, 200620 yr Author change ISP? Or is that the only one in the area... They own the lines...they have everything they need to provide broadband to my area except for an upgrade for the local box or something of that nature.

February 28, 200620 yr cable internet around here is slightly slower than my dsl (2megabit/sec compared to dsl's 3megabit/sec). ive also better service with my dsl than my friend did with his cable.
February 28, 200620 yr is there alot of ppl around were you live that would get the serivce? because were i live they wont put the cables up do to the area were i live and not so many ppl would actually get a better serivces so to the company that would put the cords up doesnt want to waste a ton of money for like 1 person to use it.

If so get some neighbors to add their phone numbers to the registry, even if they don't plan on getting DSL it would be nice to have that option for them in the future. In a couple of months a few ISPÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s are putting in non-government DSL equipment, which means uncapped DSL (currently you can only get 1.5MbitÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s, which isnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t super fast) :).

Maybe contact the Better Business Bureau of Canada :P if you have proof enough.

March 2, 200620 yr Thats the same with me. I live like 2 miles from town and bellsouth won't put it where I live. I think its because I live in a subdivision and the road isn't paved :( . My friend has it and he lives near me about 3 miles from me.

We have surewest and they have been prommising an upgade to highdef for almost 2 years also and every time they said just 6 more months. Well atleast on the 3rd we are getting the upgrade atlast, but knowing our luck a earthquake is gona hit or a massive solor flare is gona knock the whole west coast out. Sorry to nitpick, but your analogy is flawed :oops: It should either be an eight track player and the iPod or the eight track tape and the mp3 format I really don't see dialup as being horrible unless I want to play a game online, which isn't often. I'd say its more like a CD player to an iPod. The fact that it takes forum pages up to 1 minute to load sometimes and that simple 2 mb programs that are needed one time take around 20 minutes to download makes dial-up horrible.
March 3, 200620 yr When my family tried to get dsl we had some problems too... We live in the biggest city in Iowa and they were slow as hell getting out to hook it up. Then they hooked it up to our neighbors house! And again it took them forever to come back and hook it up right. I guess you just have to be patient...
