Some pictures

I got a new camera, a Sony Cybershot DSC-N1. I'm pretty impressed with it up to this point, and the photo quality is pretty good overall. All I did was resize, crop, and auto levels/color/contrast on them.

This is a map in with these pins in it. Just messing with the camera feature that you can point (on the touch screen) where you want it to focus.

Went golfing the other day, was really nice. Other than the lens flare I'm really happy about this one.

This is a view of nearby Lake Tahoe from the Sierras. Just got some fresh snow the other night so it's pretty cool around there :).

That's all for now, still messing around with it. I'm going to work on some night shots next once I get things more figured out.

Nice photos you have taken, I wish I could get a digital camera soon. Just simply love the focusing and the photos turns out to be from the camera.

First pic: Very nice! I love the color in it and I love the pins. The focal point seems odd how it is way off to the left side, but like you said you must have been experimenting with the touch-screen focusing.

Second pic: Very nice. I love the blurring of the flag in the background. Only real crit is the golf ball could be cleaner ;) :P

Third pic: Absolutely stunning. I would LOVE to visit Tahoe sometime. I know that it's know for it's breathtaking views. The tree just left of center kind of steals my attention from the rest of the pic, but I know you couldn't really help that much.

Great pictures, and awesome camera. I'm looking forward to some amazing new pictures.

This is what we call composition.

I didn't say it before, but, looking again, the first pic is really very nice compositionally. It may have not been intentional, but, It's good. The pins create a great and interesting movement..

My only qualm is that it's very slightly out of balance, but, for a random shot, it's still pretty sweet. :)

Thanks for the comments.

As for the first one, yes it was sort of intentional with the placing like that :P. I got a couple of others I liked too, but I liked how you can see up the map and see all of the other pins in the background.

The golf shot I liked with the flag in the background, otherwise I think the ball is a little overwhelming.

The landscape is very pretty, but I can't really take credit for anything on those, since all I did was take the picture and crop it, it could have been anyone :).

Personally i think there is normally more effort involved in travelling somewhere to take a good landscape shot than there is when taking a still life shot indoors, even if the landscape shot is easier to take. So unless those amazing mountains in your back garden, i wouldnt put that shot down so much. :P

Sorry about bumping this, I hope it isn't too old.

I like the first one the most. However, the focusing doesn't really seem to be on the pins, but on SOUTH in SOUTH AMERICA. If you can, I would use a manual focus for those shots. Otherwise it can get very tricky to get the correct area you want to focus on.

He did use manual focus, that, according to him, was the point of the shot, to play around with a manual focus method using a touch-screen.
