banned for drop trading?

shade_bandyt

Recommended Posts

its against one of the rules if you drop items, then log in with your other accounts to pick them up. and most likely its very easy for jagex to detect one character logging out and then another character logging in at the same location on the same world immediately after

yet i never hear about people who got banned for drop trading for their other accounts. how often does this happen? is there anybody who had this happen to them or know of somebody that got banned for this?

My secondary character "leaux pont" was banned for 3 days (temporarily disabled) after I accidentally drop traded in front of a jmod. lol. But I, aswell, have never heard of anyone being competely banned for it.

i interuppted a drop trade, i could tell if it was drop trading so i waited there for the stuff to appear.....i got 40k, emeralds, sapphires, mith ls, mith square and bbones. It was great at the time because the pseron shouted at me for taking the stuff and threatened to report me.....i said "go ahead, you will get banned though". It left the room.....

that leads to another rule breaking. Jagex will surely suspect that you are attempting to sell your account properties or something.

Rule 12, from the updates

I quote from their site:

Secondly we cannot see the half of the transaction which occurs outside the game, and if players swap items for external benefits we can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see, to us it looks like an unbalanced suspicious trade.

If you're transfering a mask for example through a friend and then back to your pure, you'd surely be caught... It's that simple

I'm not saying I've done it but...

I think the drop trading rule is retarted. I mean YOU'VE worked for that money on your main, so you have the right to transfer it to a new char.

Every other MMORPG such as WoW allows you to transfer stuff from one character to another, why should RuneScape be any different?

I think they need to remove that rule...

you shouldn't trust mods as they arent the first and real source of information. They don't make the rules themselves. It's like me skipping a math lesson and telling the teacher afterwards, saying that another good student said that we didnt have to go to it. It's the Jagex staff who can give you a correct answer.

And as a lot of people have said already, Mods dont have to know all the rules, they dont fill in a test about the rules before they become one. All they have to do is to report the people that break the rules that they know of

btw, you only said that ONE mod said that, it makes it even more untrustworthy.

Either remove the rule or make some way of acceptable transfer. Now that is a double edged sword. Firstly it's good for those who want to start a new account or a pure but don't want to earn money with a weakling of a character. The bad side is that any and every scammer/hacker/jerk will be able to swipe all of your items to another account and then from that account transfer it to their main (less conspicuous).

So it's both good and bad.

apparently the only people (well, person, aus_fighter) that got banned for drop trading are the ones actually caught in the act, and got directly reported, maybe by a mod. it is extremely easy to drop trade in locations where you wont be seen by other players, like in a remote building during off-peak hours in a quiet f2p world. in fact, its almost a given that jagex mods or player mods never monitor whats going on in f2p, and at the same time f2p is where 99% or new pures and pkers train

how difficult is it for jagex to, say, monitor the weight carried on one of your chars has decreased by a certain amount, then a second character that is owned by the same person logs into the same world, stands on the same spot a minute after, and that character gains exactly the weight that the first character lost. of course if its notes then the weight doesnt change, but i'm surprised there arent more automatic bans for drop trading accounts.

its not that i'd like to see jagex ban indiscriminately, its bad enough already as it is, and i dont care about the drop trading rule either. i think its stupid. but its still wierd to me that even tho jagex is banning people left right and center for other things that are not directly breaking the rules, its strange that you hardly hear about this rule being enforced that much, if ever...

Guys! you are so ignorant and stupid! 80% of runescapers have at least once drop traded in their life, and every day, around 20k people drop trade (out of 2mil that logg in). I personally drop trade almost every week, if not day, since i own 11 pures. If jagex would ban all the people who did it, only lvl 3 noobs or zezima would be left in the game, rest of the people banned. Bah. So, rethink the critisizm you are putting into this, and enjoy the game the way it is. Or do you want to see around 10k people left in Runescape. I bet you drop traded at least once too. :)

But, some people post "i drop traded on the official forums". what stupid noobs--no wonder they the ones that are banned. And there are tons of better ways to trick Jagex, I will not Expand on it.

we know LOTS of people drop trade all the time or at least once in a while. but we hardly hear about people getting banned for this. if you read what we said, its a stupid rule, and even more stupid in that its not even being enforced. my question is not whether more people should be banned for drop trading, but how come people arent being banned?

I guess Runescape made that rule to stop all the "I hate Runescape!!! Someone stole my stole while I drop traded!", or "OMFG!!! My friend was gonna help me trade stuff to my pure but he stole them instead!!"

Everytime you drop trade, no matter what area you're in, there's a chance that someone will appear and steal your stuff, and when you do it through a friend, there is a chance that "your friend may be a monster", as Jagex puts it.

Jagex have an item tracking system, you think an account with hardly any money making stats and a load of gp isn't going to get them to check exactly where those items have come from and check those accounts against your ip?

you drop trade and you will get caught, and when you get banned I'll laugh at you, possibly even point and laugh for further emphasis of your noobishness.

did you know that lots of people are doing exactly this and not getting banned? its happening all the time, everyday, by probably the majority of players with multiple accounts. and jagex are not banning them. any clues as to why?

i think maybe there are 2 factors involved. 1 is the size of the transfer. loading up an account with lots of rares, millions of gp or large ammounts of valuable items might be a cause for jagex to enforce this rule. 2 is the location. if you are drop trading in a members world in a busy location, or in a way that somebody can catch you and report you, then that might cause jagex to take action. of course this is just my speculation

the fact is, lots of people are still drop trading and not being banned. maybe its ok to drop trade within a certain moderate limit, and as long as it cant be seen by others. thats my guess, but i dont know

any item from one of your accounts cannot be giving to another one of ur accounts, since its illegal, and if drop trading is illegal so is giving it do your friends, to give it to you
