Does Runescape even know what's on their ~ Ads ~ ?

Featured Replies

Yesterday, I saw some ads (as usual and not popup ads) when playing Runescape. To my surprise, it was an umm inappropriate  magazine that appeared and you could see naked women. Don't any of you people think that's bad? I mean, there are a lot of young Runescape players around from 8...

Thats sad that they dont control it.

Near ad low right corner you find "?". click it. It says:

At Jagex, we strive to maintain a quality and consistency in the adverts shown on our website, and regularly maintain checks to ensure that those adverts we show are suitable for all of our players.

If for any reason you feel that an advert being shown is inappropriate, please contact us by clicking to comment on our service from the main home page. After you have logged in, please select to send us an Advert Complaint.

When asked to supply an Advert ID, you can find this by clicking the question mark next to the offending advert to display this message. The ID to be provided will then be shown next to the yellow text at the top. Thank you.

Seems Jagex counts on users to report bad ads. Though money runs into Jagex pocket.

There are not any naked ads, people have to mature a little bit about this.

It's not going to kill you. There's usually one or two where you can see some skin, wow I'm blind.

Yeah, no naked ads. And RuneScape has some control over who the ad is targeting but it would be hard to monitor the content of all the ads. Im p2p but if I remember correctly there is a question mark beside the ad you can click to report if for review by the Jagex staff.

Live by the sword, die by the sword...

As with most sites (tip.it included), the owners do not have full control over the ads. If you see an inappropriate ad, report it to them. If you see an inappropriate ad on tip.it, please report it to a mod/admin and we'll try to fix it :)

The most 'risque' ads I've seen on RS are the Cacique ones.

Um, doesnt bother me, and if ur not mature enough to handle a naked picture on a website, you need to grow up. Not to mention there is way worse stuff on the internet.

I could argue with you, pointing out the Univeral Studios theme park advertisement (featuring Spider-Man) I saw earlier.

Sometimes the ads are for kids, sometimes they aren't.

yea all the ads now for rs seem to be of half naked or naked women.

and having to find the id of each ad and submit it to them should not be our task. they have their own employee's and they can see all the ads just as easily as we can.

jagex has gone down hill in the advertising area

It's not that I cant handle them, I've handled loads of them already on purpose if you know what I mean 8)

It's because it's not appropriate showing them to lil kids, like a -10 year old. Yes I do thinks it rather irresponsible of Jagex to let us report bad ads, they should do it theirselves. And what's the point of reporting when they've already seen it? I can understand that websites need ads, but you definately should make them more suitable for your visitors. Anyways, Jagex is already making a lot of money through members, dont think it would hurt their economy so much if they took them away...

And honestly, I thought Jagex made Runescape with an age restriction of 13+, meaning that younger players should not be playing RS. Seems like the younger players are lying in the registration and should be well aware of anything that might appear on screen

Ya, so if someone sues them, they say "Whoa, we have a 13+ age limit, so it's not our fault if your little 9 year old saw the ads."

"The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
