Boogie
It's hard for me to describe how the vocals sound. The only words I can find to describe them are "pushed" or "forced." The vocalist will often have a red face after a line. It is singing, not screaming or yelling, and it sounds good. If you know any bands that have vocals that fit my description, please post. :) Thank you.

insane
I'm not exactly sure if this is what you're looking for, but there's a couple songs in Origin of Symmetry by Muse where their singer is just guuuulping for breath (Micro Cuts for instance)

Necromagus
If you can't describe it properly, maybe you could name a few bands you have that match what you're looking for so that we would have a little more to go by... Anyway, from the top of my head I would say Iced Earth, not sure if that's what you mean though. EDIT: Can't post You Send It links? Love to help you out, but the file expired. And I'm assuming you know already, but I'm flat out disagreeing with the suggestions of Linkin Park and AFI. They are both awful vocalists. Insane took my suggestion just based on what you've said since I can't listen to the file. You could always listen to Five Iron Frenzy - On Distant Shores some more :D. Granted Reese sings with so much emotion in their songs so if you want me to suggest some more of that type.

While I agree that Linkin Park is only a mediocre band, Chester's vocals are far from awful. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! apinagez
I don't know if it fits your description, but AC/DC vocalist Dave Evans forces a lot his voice while singing.
