Runescape best online game ever???

I like Runescape a lot. I've never played WoW or other online RPGs, but they cost too much and I have a not too bad graphics card. RS is cheap too.

Runescape's success has alot to do with low system requirements, a robust trial which is Free to Play, numerous skills to train, and decent clan following.

Go into any public library in the USA and you will see 2 out of 3 computers logged on to runescape.

It is fun and can be accessed from anywhere.

As long as the game is supported or we are allowed to transfer our characters to the new version of runescape, I think it will remain one of the top MMORPGS.

Yes, it is very popular. But that's because it is free or was once free and got people addicted to it.

About the clan following, that is the one aspect of that game that this actually lacks. I was once a clan leader myself, 4 years ago, a very big one and the lack of clan support in this game is it's major problem.

halo 2 is kinda lame because ide say about 40% of the players are racist 14 year olds. i swear almost every game i play i hear a racist comment but then again it gives me more of a reason to slaughter them and drop my ballsack in their face

Runescape is the best free-to-play MMORPG over the long term.

I have tried others which are more fun in terms of combat types and graphics and clan events -- the one that stands out to me is called "Astonia" but you can only play it free for one month before you have to start paying. The price is 5 bucks a month - same as runescape; but since it allows you to try out almost all the aspects of game play as a free player, I never felt the need to become a member to try out new things.

If you like good graphics and pking, you will easily like Astonia. At the same time, you have the option (similar to WoW) of being a non-pker and still enjoying the game. It too has skills like mining, thieving, herblore and such which improve with levels.

It even has merchanting as a skill so that better merchants can make more profit per trade. And these merchants there are actually a sought-after entity because they are quite useful for everyone.

For pkers, it has runescape-like features where you get the items of the player you kill and the best part is it keeps a count of how many players you killed and shows it in your description to other players.

For mages, it has the option of keyboard shortcuts for spells which is very useful. Also, it has the option to train different aspects of skills so that one can be a "pure" similar to what you find on RS. Since pkers are limited to attacking those within 5 levels of themselves, pures are the best pkers there as well.

Best of all was the community. Everyone is very helpful and since the chat is worldwide and even across multiple servers if needed, the rude players get blocked by ever-present moderators. One player that had helped me with getting a high level item at the time I played is now the leader of the biggest clan in the game as well as the highest level player in it.

1) That sounded like an advertisement for the game.

2) Games like that are a dime a dozen, really it sounds exactly like ragnarok.

Now on to runescape: The thing about games these days is that they get bogged down in graphics and stuff (read penny arcades "the sucking" for the greatest comments ever on gaming today) when what we really need is games that are fun to play. We live in a world right now where halo won best game of the year (or something, didn't it? Or maybe halo 2 or something, my point is still valid) when, and you guys are going to hate me for this, it sucks... halo is an absoloutely horrific game. So that is just an example on how our gaming culture works. On the MMORPG level my point still applies; WOW is fun, but only for awhile, you can't do as much, the quests are awful, leveling takes forever (and you thought fishing for 3 hours was boring, trust me, killing orcs is so annoying) and all of it is jammed in a more exclusive envioroment that only the people with sweet computers can get into.

Runescape on the other hand has a nice feel to it, everything about it is simple and comforting. In runescape you never really ever have to kill anything (sure people say that about other games but it isn't true) you could spend all your time growing corn, or fishing, or just robbing random people. Or on the other spectrum you can train your fighting talents to the point where no one can take you down. Really if you think about it runescape has something for everything and that really can't be denied.

So yeah, I seem to have rambled a bit (I apolagize; I am tired and going to sleep in a couple minutes) but my point is that runescape is the best game for your computer because everyone else is just trying too damn hard.

I can see that some people like to ramble a bit  so I'll get right to the point.

Runscape is the best online RPG game I've played. Pushing 4 years of playing, I can't put it down. With a constantly dynamic game play runescape always leaves you wanting to play more. Finish just one more quest, get just one more level... Also some skills can get a bit boring but with many skills to train it is easy to change pase to keep things fresh.

"Oh but every skill is the same repetitive crep". The way I see it, the 21 skills are grouped into 3 main game play styles:

Fighting where it is a must to pay keep your screen up which causes this skills to be the most intense.

Collecting, which allows you to level up while doing other things such as replying to a forums topic  .

Creating which involves a ton of clicking and which allows for the fastest leveling depending on how fast you can click (sometimes).

Also if training skills or doing quests isn't your style, there are also plenty of side mini games to play, Castle Wars is my favorite.

With over 1 million registared players and growing (according the highscores bottom) runescape is growing stronger every day and with constant updates every 2 weeks or so and further evolution of the game, runescape will be around for a long, long time.

Runescape is the laughing stock of all other MMORPG's. Once u play World of Warcraft, you will understand.

runescape was good a few years ago but now i prefer games with actual graphics. Runescape suited old, low end PC's. However, with my new x1900xt graphics card i can play F.E.A.R on highest settings with over 50 FPS muhahahaha.

which one would u wanna play?

Dont get me wrong...i think runescape was an awsome game. The basic idea is there, if only they made a proper game out of it ...

what do u guys think, is runescape the best online game??

i certainly think so, its got something other online games dont... u can keep playing it, not like u play once and then keeps on going over

I that case... you must be playing the game for like a day or something...

Runescape is far from being the best. Infact, I would go as far as saying that there is no BEST game out there. They all have their down sides. Whether it be hacks, bots (macroers), scammers, bad customer support, bugs, and whatever else you can think of.

And well... Runescape basically has all of the above that I just mentioned. Nothing against Jagex, other games have the same problems. But those problems take away from the game. Therefore they can't even be considered "the best".

EDIT: I still say Knight online is a lot better, even if it isn't nearly as big as RS.

Ive played WoW, RS (of course) and guild wars. I got bored of WoW really easy it's just pointless being able to play as lots of different races as some races shouldn't be picked to be an NPC's hero. hmm.. Guild Wars beats RS on graphics and plot but what RS has better than them is replayability. GW is just fight, fight and fight. Sure it's fun for a while but i don't want to fight all the time i want to be able to become wealthy and do lots of different skills. I do like guild wars of course and i will be getting the second chapter but i'll always keep coming back to RS.

fine by me, i dont see myself as a true gamer anyway. I enjoy playing games with awsome graphics because they are so realistic.

Just ignore him, he has no clue what he is talking about.

If gaming wouldn't be about graphics, we would still be playing games on the 16-bit systems (like NES).

Anyone who says gaming has absolutely nothing to do with graphics doesn't know what gaming is.

I'm most definitly not a gamer and personally don't really care about graphics for the most part (as long as they're decent), but I at least know what a true gamer is. A true gamer is someone who will go the distance and invest their money into the best system they can possibly get. Whether that be a Next Gen console or a custom made Gaming PC.

And by no means am I saying its all about graphics, but it most definitly is one of the biggest factors.
