If you could vote again, what would you vote?
Wozza replied to Miner_Guy's topic in General Discussion
I'm fairly certain there is open source software available that can read Captchas with a fair deal of accuracy (at least 40%). I don't think it would take very long for bots to overcome Captcha. Sure, Jagex could make them more difficult to read, but at the end of the day a bot will always be able to read them albeit with a lower accuracy. Something like this would be difficult for a human to interpret and would not be feasible anyway. The task Jagex has is not to prevent botting, but I think they would have a better chance detecting botting. The latter is far more friendly to the honest player as well. -

I voted yes, and would keep my vote the same. The number of bots is causing a problem though and I think It's going to be difficult for Jagex to develop a systematic way of banning players. I was under the impression these bots were visually scanning the screen and looking for certain features/colours. Turns out, the botting programs are incredibly well made. They seem to be able to intercept the code used to create the game locally. -
Try buying unidentified herbs and then selling clean ones. Check out the prices, but usually ranarr and irit are best. It's not the fastest way, but you can see profits of around 200gp per herb. I think I worked it out at being close to 15k exp/hour though I'm not sure on this.

Iron dragons, unless you want to take range potions. Better prayer exp from Irons as well.

Is this true? surely 'short fuse' should imply a faster rate. Anyway, nice guide

What baffles me is that sometimes when selling an item you get more money than what you asked for, and sometimes when you buy something you get some of your money back. lol wut

New set-up for aviansie and a new pic for it too!

Finally someone with a bit of sense. I see so many guides and players saying sara gear is necessary when it's really not! -
Is there any non-expensive way to train Prayer?
Wozza replied to MstrMonopoly's topic in Help and Advice
An easy way is to play pest control. -
Last night I had a slayer assignment of 43 iron dragons. Eager to put my new black mask to good use I used the iron/steel dragon guide on the tip it homepage which seems to be a little outdated. I was pretty cheesed I was using melee, especially with the price of prayer pots these days. Most others were using range and killing dragons only slightly slower without prayer. Anyway, I managed to kill around 20 and luckily got a dragon plateskirt for my efforts. Not to be outdone I bought some anti fire potions and returned with my ranging gear. An hour later I had killed more dragons than my first trip and was rewarded with some dragon legs. I was a bit tired at this point so I took a 2 hour nap. When I got back 2nd kill I get a visage, good times. Quite a nice turn of events really. I can't really complain about my drop success any more. I've managed a Dchain, Dmed and D legs before, but one thing that was really bugging me is that I've never had a shield left half. I have just come back from almost a years break but I literally spent hundreds of hours trying for one. The visage was a welcome sight, especially for my second iron/steel dragon trip since I've returned. For those interested, both drops came from Iron dragons (and the dragon skirt as well). The funny thing is the first trip I did cost me almost 100k in potions and food and I killed 20 dragons which took a lot of effort. I returned with an inventory worth 10k and killed many more, much more easily! I left after using half my potions as well I'm curious as to why anti fire potions have dropped in price so dramatically seeing as their usage must have surely increased? they used to be 5-6k if I remember correctly, more than prayer potions at the time! Anyway, thanks for looking. I found 'shield left half' drop pictures used to give me motivation when I was hunting for one them many years ago

If someone decides that £3.50 is too much during these times, then that is when Jagex will suffer. Of all things which people may cut back on, Runescape, I feel would not be one of them. It's simply a very cheap form of entertainment. Besides, I'm pretty sure the number of players is still increasing which would offset any change. I've not played in a while, but can anyone point out the need for one of those USB devices when you can have a bank PIN?

Coincidence - New Jagex CEO/ Recent Updates?
Wozza replied to Truthteller's topic in General Discussion
Could be, Paypal is actually a fairly awful service. They have over ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400 pounds of my money and are doing everything they can to keep it that way. They will not let me withdraw it :) I can add funds though, if I was a [developmentally delayed] i might be satisfied by that. -
They have definately gone overboard to the point where they are causing large inconvenience to the normal, rule abiding player. I know what you mean, such mini games are infact ridiculuous and are far too of a common occurance. Though dont expect anything to change, jagex current have something up their [wagon] right now about real world trading and gold farmers.

Whats the huge problem with trading items for real life money. They are really taking it too far with [cabbage] like this. They should get over the fact that its almost impossible to stop it. As a customer there is no reason why i should have to explain giving some random lvl 3 over 100million gp. They can not prove anything Their attempts at stopping things usually go hand in hand with making the game worse. Let us not forget fatigue in RS classic. Great fun having to sleep every few minutes. Or how about the fact that im afraid of taking a piss whilst logged on, or even browsing the internet incase some stupid random event comes and kills me. One or two random events, when there is evidence to suggest you may be autoing, would be sufficient!

Its unlikely that rares will go onto the grand exchange. Im guessing that to stop everyone putting any item they like at ridiculuous prices, there is likely to be a comission. Either that or a limit to the number of items you can have on there. I would expect to see some sort of cost for using the grand exchange though. Even if its say 0.01% of the selling price, i still wouldn't really want to put an item worth 200m on there :) (for those who can't do math i would get 2 million less). 0.01% is a low estimation as well EDIT - I should have actually gone to the runescape site first lol. Didn't see the update and so what i said is wrong.

Thanks for the tips. I tried dt skeles. got almost exactly 50k attack exp in the first hour. I did have to use guthans quite a bit and so got about 6k exp in defence and str as well pretty good exp! and very easy to semi-afk like i did. Only problem is the drops, which are awful :P May i ask you what this line meant? 'Don't waste your time training with dh, since a scim or gs are much better.' I am unsure about the abbreviations. Thanks

Hello. So I havn't played in a while and am wondering where the best places to train combat at present. As stated, im combat 106 with 83 attack 92 str 80 def 88 hit points Another thing i would like to know is, what it the best way to level. By that i mean, is it correct to still use rune/dragon items or are there faster ways using those barrows sets? Thank you
-
members is no better. I apparently 'stole' some guys black dragon. He started throwing the usual insults, then logs off with a line. Goodbye, i know how to hack *cough* gonna take your items *cough* From a lvl 122, I find that quite shocking. Needless to say, I actually have a clue about computers and am not afraid in the slightest.

What i think the new update will be and why.

no. -
You should note that L = level. Therefore, its a series whereby: if you want, say level 60. then you want to put x=1 into the equation and get a result. then put x=2 into the equation and add the two together. Then add the result when x=3 etc....until you get to x=59. There is probably some formula that makes it a lot quicker, but I can't think of it. As it stands, its much easier to design a program to compute the XP needed.

In the grand scheme of things, and the probable desire for 126 combat, training defense is, in most cases, fairly stupid. Assuming you have a defense level to sufficiently wear the armor that you have, then training strength or attack will allow you to kill things faster and so providing you have the resources (food, pots etc) you will be able to level much faster. i.e. You would train defense from 70-99 with 99 str/attack much faster than you would train str from 70-99 with 99 defence. note: This is of course assuming you train on suitable monsters, and I'm not speaking about player v player combat either. However, that was a little off topic. I believe the main reason for being called a 'defense noob' relates back to the days of RS classic. The stats were unevenly balanced, with defense having very little value (hence the birth of 'pure' pkers). Old habits, I say.
