March 11, 200620 yr Here's a brain teaser that I found on a different forum. I don't really believe that Einstein made it...But I donno. I don't think it's been posted in the last while, since I frequent this place daily and I can't recall it. It's a pretty interesting puzzle. It's DEFINATELY doable, I did it. It took a while, and it's kinda tricky, but you can definately do it. Lastly, don't google, and don't post a visible answer (veryvery small type if you post answers please). Good luck! This brainteaser, reportedly written by Einstein is difficult and Einstein said that 98% of the people in the world could not figure it out. Which percentage are you in? There are five houses in a row in different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The five owners drink a different drink, smoke a different brand of cigar and keep a different pet, one of which is a Walleye Pike. The question is-- who owns the fish? Hints: 1. The Brit lives in the red house. 2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets. 3. The Dane drinks tea. 4. The green house is on the left of the white house. 5. The green house owner drinks coffee. 6. The person who smokes Pall Malls keeps birds. 7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills. 8. The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk. 9. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats. 10. The Norwegian lives in the first house. 11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who smokes Dunhills. 12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer. 13. The German smokes Princes. 14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house. 15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water. There are no tricks, pure logic will get you the correct answer. And yes, there is enough information to arrive at the one and only correct answer. If you get the correct answer, congratulations, you are one of the exclusive group of 121,348,731 people in the world who can. Hmmm, I'm just now realising that I did it where Bluemasters was replaced with Camel, and Princes was replaced with Marlboro...But that doesn't change the puzzle anyway.
March 11, 200620 yr I wonder why they'd claim a Physicist came up with a logic puzzle like that? Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
March 11, 200620 yr Highlite for answer: -------------------------------------- =Hahah you nooblet!= -------------------------------------- ...... ..... .... ... .. . .. ... .... ..... ...... no but really: -------------------------------------- mod edit: you ruined the puzzle for me :P --------------------------------------
March 11, 200620 yr Author I said small type, not white type...People have different forum setups and they can see white type..Wouldn't want to ruin the fun would you?
March 11, 200620 yr Highlite for answer: -------------------------------------- =Hahah you nooblet!= -------------------------------------- ...... ..... .... ... .. . .. ... .... ..... ...... no but really: -------------------------------------- == -------------------------------------- you ruined it for me way to go!! :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: i was all ready to do it, got a piece a paper out, decided to read the comments and while scrolling down caught the answer. Way to go. Visit my DeviantArt Page at http://vladmoney.deviantart.com
March 11, 200620 yr Yeah. I'd been working on this for about twenty minutes, and I was just coming to that deduction. :D
March 11, 200620 yr That wasn't that difficult... Only took a couple minutes. I doubt that only 2% of the general population could figure that out. As others have said, it is the German who has the fish... He also lives in the green house, smokes Princes, and drinks coffee.
March 11, 200620 yr so putter, was google right?? [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]
March 11, 200620 yr That wasn't that difficult... Only took a couple minutes. I doubt that only 2% of the general population could figure that out.Agreed. Seems like a normal brainteaser to me. And it really didn't tease my brain that much. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
March 11, 200620 yr assuming that my answer was right...that wasn't terribly hard. the trouble that most people are going to have with this is eliminating possibilities. most people dont know how to do that (GO SUDOKU :D ), so yea, it was a good logic thingummy, but that 2% of the world who can get this dont have anything special really. all they can do is process of elimination, assuming that they can keep track of their work :wink: R.I.P. March 11, 200620 yr People said someone gave the awnser, but all I can see in the post of who gave is "HAHA you nooblet" I solved it... Norwegian ->yellow - water - Dunhill - cats Dane -> blue - tea - Blend - horses Brit -> red - milk - Pall Mall - birds German -> green - coffee - Prince - fish Swede -> white - beer - Master - dogs ~komodo
March 11, 200620 yr If you're even a little bit good at problem solving, this is easy. If you make a table you can do it in about 5 minutes. (Nationality vs cigarette brands etc) Dreaming of that face againIt's bright, and blue, and shimmeringGrinning wideAnd comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes
March 12, 200620 yr If you're even a little bit good at problem solving, this is easy. If you make a table you can do it in about 5 minutes. (Nationality vs cigarette brands etc) Basicaly what I did! :P ~komodo
March 12, 200620 yr I did this about a year ago! (well, something similar to this...with a little less information given) It took me 45 minutes to do the whole thing...took my best friend 20 minutes...the same amount of time that JFK took. He's a genious, hehe. But yeah it's a good challenge if you're up for it. Runescape Name: "unbug07"Expand your mind.
March 13, 200620 yr 12. The owner, who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer. This threw me off. Is it the owner of the house or the owner of the fish? Seeing as it dosn't say there are 2 possible answers. If it means the owner of the fish, the owner of the fish is british. If it means owner of the house the owner of the fish is german. Seeing as the subject is fish 'the' referes to the fish. So it means that the owner of the fish is red house brits.
