This is an outrage! Too many people have been banned for something that doesn't break the rules. This "thing": wireless router players. People with the routers that use rs have more than one computer and probably more than one scaper in the house. Say a brother and sister want to get on at the same time for a pk trip or training session...together as bro and sis. They are on a wireless network using, oh let's say, BellSouth FastAccess DSL Extreme. They logon, do their trip, and go eat dinner. When they get back, they've been banned for multiple logging in just because it's the same IP address! It's not fair! If you agree, click on the url to tell Jagex to lighten up a bit. http:// http://runescape.com/lang/en/aff/runesc ... le_is=2509

If you believe you came from monkeys, you probably did.

Your link doesn't work. But they do need better ways of finding out if ppl are multi-logging... :? They really do.

Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.

Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well.

And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.

[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Makes for a good life.

Not even close. What you might be thinking of is a proxy, or perhaps a dialup modem?

Probably I guess. I was told by some friend that it changed Ip's. Guess I should check around first.

proxy server could be alternative for playing from same connection, althoug they are not secure, well not all of them, also adds lag, and it's hard to get one.

other than that i agree that this banning rampage jagex going thru no is bs :)

It is called reconnecting to your ISP

which if you are on dialup means just redial, for dsl you just disconnect and reconnect. Cable same thing.

Unless ofcourse you got yourself a static ip address.

As far as having jagex not able to see the ip, I used to be able to pull that off last year, I kept getting msg of last log on as from what domain I was on which was the name of my comp and later on I only kept seeing the msg that I was last logged on on some ip.

Just have one of you use unassigned applet using default Java and they can't detect the IP. You can do multiple logs on a single computer that way.
true i do it when i am on with my sisters so i don't get banned...........

hmm... i believe jagex is really stupid sometimes with this banning.. i feel sry for the players that get banned and dont do nething...

Well, Andrew / JaGex reacted to the "Biased banning" Tipit Times article...

Not with any real apology for the mistakes and over zealous (probably automated) banning, and the low chance of getting anything that doesn't look like an auto-reply, but with threats against the author.

I know, you only ever see the worst, the (hopefully) few who are wrongly banned, but the difficulty seems to be in getting any explaination, for the summary judgement agianst those they claim are mules, drop traders, multi-logons, autoers, real world traders etc.

There is now open suspicion that JaGex's "detection methods" do not properly allow for those who are behind a router, and are likely to unjustly punish as real world traders, those who give/recieve large gifts or lend items for safe keeping.

Is this problem only with wireless routers?

20a7yhg.jpg

At least, I think that.

it's a problem with any home network.

wireless or wired, it still have same IP address going from router to ISP and to jagex.

simply don't trade while both at same time. or simply start making nice appeal that fits into 400 words, and explains everything. u will need it for latter :)

You guys should try a bit in the military. Let me tell you a common occurance. Lance Corporal Schmuckatelly likes to say how he got punished for only being 10 minutes late to formation. What he forgets to say is, that while he was punished for being late 10 minutes, he had been late a number of times in the past, been beligerant to the Sargeant and uniform never meets regulation.

Basicly, the command got tired and finally decide to take official action the next time Schmuckatelly messed up. Of course, the schmuck can't get pity from his fellow privates and lance corporals if he tells them that. It sounds like he's the victim if he was fined 500 dollars and put on restriction for 14 days for being 10 minutes late. That he had warning, after warning and chance after chance to clean up his act would make it look like it was his fault.

Goto to any job, and there'll be a worker that's a complete dirtbag yet all the bad things the management does to him (lack of promotion, demotion, lousy work hours) are obviously not his fault. He's the paragon of virtue.

Moral, be wary about these players saying they got banned for such and such action. First, Jagex does not tell you the full details of why you were caught. If the player can't know definate, they can only guess at what activity Jagex caught them violating. So yes, MAYBE a player was giving his kid rare items cause they looked pretty, but MAYBE Jagex noticed this guy later took the items back and sold them. MAYBE Jagex banned a character for saying Tip.It or MAYBE Jagex noticed this guy was also talking about known cheat sites that like to give trojans up for downloads.

PS: I think Jagex can tell the difference between using an account as a mule and an account used by another player on a different computer on the same LAN.
