April 8, 200620 yr Range is far superior to magic in F2p. With 99 range, you can kill people in full rune frequently, and mages don't stand a chance. Arrows may not hit extremely hard, but they hit so fast, it's like a barrage of death. My vote is for range any day of the week.

April 9, 200620 yr As a former RSC player, I have a love for all three types. Back in the old game, you could actually be all three. You could go up to someone in the wilderness and feel free to thwack at them any number of ways. Now adays, its so specialized... I'd have to go with mage. What can I say? It ain't called RUNEscape for nothing.

April 9, 200620 yr I'll say mage, since I don't really like magic too well. I like to stick to good ol' fanisoned Medieval warfare. (meele and range). The Ranger beats the Mage because of the weapons triangle. The Ranger beats the Warrior if he hides behind stuff and keeps moving. Magic is slow. 3 arrows to one fire wave. And on rapid? About 9. April 9, 200620 yr Magic is just so more versatile, I like range but I sometimes I feel its only purpose is to be the destroyer of magic. many people only train it to 40 so they can get some basic magic protection.
April 9, 200620 yr At lower levels mages are more reliable in pking (higher hits). But at higher levels (say about 38+) a ranger would win anyday. Rangers are still able to use mage spells without altering their stats...just got to plan right. April 9, 200620 yr well tb and tangle vs 20 20 spec with potted 85 range (i love my msb ) Magic is a more rewarding skill which i am in the process of getting to 85, but id say range every time. CANE Just to be different. Think about it. A freaking Dragon Cane with a Dragonstone gem.The spec will simply your character equiping a glove and beachslapping the enemy, who will break down and do the Cry emote for 10 seconds straight.
April 9, 200620 yr my pick is range. mage has some really cool stuff in it (alchin, teleing) but its just way too expensive for me. I'd rather pay like 4 gp a shot with range than 150 with mage. and who else is disturbed by the cost of mistic? green d hide is way cheaper :D
April 9, 200620 yr Ranged all the way! Why? Because for anyone who has good ranged, they can easily shoot some high numbers at a higher rate than magic. Even though magic can hit the upper-teens, it doesn't fire quite as rapid as ranged does. Go ranged! ^ Blog.
