Shraps
What dfo you think is the most useful combat skill? 1. Attack, Str, Def. 2. Magic 3. Ranged post what one and why you think so CLICK my sig to join the best runescape Fan/Tip SiteMagic 85/94 | Range 73/85 | Defense 71/
Kill_Life
Everything is handy! Melee at close combat. Range at a distance, hard to pick up arrows. Magic is stratigy (binding etc) and good if you can't pick up anything. I choose all 3. Melee most tough. Darkdan990
I think that the most cost-effective and therfore useful skil woud be range...even with the loss of random arrows and the fact that the best armour is green d hide (for F2P) sucks....overall the amout gained versus the amount lost is better than mageing...and of course in terms of range vs melee, out of every 10 times a ranger and a warrior fight for a kill the ranger will get it 8-9 times....enough said
tintmangbpack
I would say ranger but I am biased because that is my highest combat stat. With the three melee ones, I think they all have their unique attribute, and I try to keep them all fairly equal. Your true character is what you are like when you believe there are no repercussions. Satenza
Def, Attack, Strength, Mage, Range With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
dorkvader
Def, Attack, Strength, Mage, Range in what order though ascending or descending? are you saying "Def> Attack> Strength> Mage> Range" or Def< Attack< Strength< Mage< Range for f2p mage is the most expensive becasue you cant retrieve used runes. range is like mage (both far away) but you can pick up arrows. it doesn't do much damage though and more monsters drop runes than arrows. melee is cheapest -1 time investment really. but i believe range is the best becasue the dh may have low def all around but it protects a little agains everything, which is good. out of that i pick range becasue its cool! (i need to get mroe arrows though)
bacab
Ok, so I bet you can use arrows to tele then? ' Mage by far. It's useful for combat and it has many wonderful uses out side of combat. Like turning 500 earth b staves I labored to craft into lovely one million coins. Anyway... I'd also say attack and defense are pretty useful. I'm not saying that strength is worthless, i'm just comfortable with the amount that I can hit max. And I would like to hit more often and be hit less often. [already you can see the blossoming hypocrisy. I have a promising career in politics.:)] And i'd rather hit consistent 5's and 4's and such than consitent 0's and 1's with the occasion 14 strewn about randomly. And range is pretty awesome too. I use it for almost all of my slay tasks. But mage still wins out over the rest. By Far. I use it for 5/7 barrows bros. Can't beat that. We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
Lord_Gromit
I use it for 5/7 barrows bros. There are only 6 barrows bros. But I prefer melee. Its cheapest, and has highest max hit.
Hardcore_Pk5
I personally like the melee stats.

lokisilath
f2p: mellee is a good skill to train up as its cheap and you can do lots of damage (25s with rune baxe w00t!) and by wearing g dhide you can beast on mages to your hearts content (splash splash) have to say though in order to do this you need 40 range to wear dhide...so it aint for pures. members:range and mage have a lot of better items (better armour, better arrows, better bows, better spells and you cant forget ancients) ancients is harsh on members so i would say mage is the best thing to train up for members. RockyMaivia
It's a tough call, but it's melee. You CAN do pretty much anything in the game without magic magic, but you CAN'T without melee with hits included (you'd die just about anywhere you need to go to get things for quests, etc.). I don't want to hear "so and so is only level 3 with level 99 fishing and he has 200 billion dollars" because i don't call sitting and only fishing all day being a functional character. revblonde
I would have to agree with melee as well, though as several have said before mage is very useful as well. I haven't really seen much need or had the slightest desire to consentrate on my ranging skills... as you can see, *points downward* besides being able to complete quests that require leveling that skill.
