Rune_User
Well, no one's ever addressed it saying it was against the rules or not, so just posting so everyone knows.

revblonde
Wow, I guess Jagex should be sending me a ban e-mail. When I'm fishing or woodcutting I just click a tree or fishing spot and walk off to grab a drink or something. Does that mean I can't do paperwork while I play either??? *Note: I think that it mainly is directed toward macroers who set up to train via their programs at night then go to bed and wake up in the morning. simran
Okay the bottom line is that you must pay 100% attention to runescape when you log in. You you are gonna get a drink, then you must log out, and when you come back, you can log back on. Of course many people do it, I dont but many other people do. Which is why there are random events in this game. So pay attention! Iantiger
While afk training has never been as such legal, there has always been a sensible line which people shouldn't cross due to common sense. Jagex have stated that it is perfectly acceptable to browse the official forums whilst playing Runescape but excessive browsing of the forums without paying too much attention to the game may result in death-by-random-event. So you would think it's ok to browse Tip It whilst playing the game, and ok to run off and pour yourself a quick glass of water. The point where you would be crossing the line might be, for example, training on aggressive monsters (i.e. bandits whilst wearing an item of Zamorak or Saradomin) and not actually checking the screen for 60 seconds. revblonde
Well, I can personally atest to coming close to such death by random events while browsing forums and such. However, that is why I became smart and have a smaller window for the forums and so I can still see my character and what is happening around him. puddin_tane
...and here I was.. so happily ignorant.. thinking I'd never broken a rule. :? Note to all my friends: should I suddenly log out unexpectedly.. 'twas the call of nature.  As difficult {boring?} as it is to do repetitive tasks to train, who doesn't need to hop AFK for a few seconds? Takes longer to log out and back in than to grab a drink or whatever.

Then, at the rate I play RS, if i follow those rules, I'm gonna go blind at the age of 20  What do you think these people do while posting on the forums? THEY AFK SOMEHOW IN RS. No matter whatever you do, be it harpooning a fishing rod, standing there idly, or slashing at your yew logs, YOU'RE GOING AWAY FROM RUNESCAPE! They leave their char to do something while they post. What were YOU doing while you typed that up? Maybe you were AFKing in RuneScape. I AFK, do I give? Everyone AFKs.
Guest
There probably just sick of hearing the whines of people who have left there computer and then fallen victim to a random event. Its not somthing they can enforce considering that no one can be 100% positive that another person is AFK'ing.

Doomster
Just reminded me, I should be on "half attention" training while browsing.
imaerehw14
i've been training on lessers for such a long time, that with my skills at their levels, i can pretty much set a mental clock for when they die and i need to pick up my drop *checks rs for kill... 60 fire runes. attack another lesser. i dont think its the fact that people browse forums, i think its for people who set up marcos or something like that. *checks rs for kill...120 coins. attack another lesser. as i've shown, its easy to afk, and i know everyone does it. its just the fact that people set up autoers to go afk for them. i dont think getting a glass of water is a big deal. i dont think doing a few math problems is a big deal. its just the fact that people will cheat with autoers if this rule (and the help from the "no marco" rule) is not in use. *checks rs for kill... pfft, 10 coins. attack another lesser -imaerehw14
lavirylime
AFK = away from keyboard. When you're checking forums, you're definitely not away from keyboard. *not going to repeat what's already been said 19283712 times* EDIT: Hahah, I was mining silver while I was replying and then I didn't realize I clicked on a hot rock -_- hate teleporting back to fally with half a load of silver and a stupid broken axe. hazardmaster
Jagex have such crazy rules. Look at Rule 15, which they added secretly!! Basically, "You must not block out the ads on the F2P RuneScape client with an adblocker or any other programs."

I was just looking at the rules after the news about "breaking rule 7 and rule 12" (do they expect to know which rule is which number by heart?) and I saw that, and I was like "wtf how long has this been here?" I am a tree.
gonzlar
Kind of a silly rule really. I suppose they would detect this by taking a look at how often and when a player disconnects due to inactivity. If I was ever banned for this (not bloody likely) i'd sure be mad. The self-proclaimed king of bronze.
revblonde
I have sometimes wondered who the mastermind behind Jagex is and also how they can expect such a strict adherence to their rules. I often think I'll find Adolf Hitler himself running my beloved Runescape. (now some1 quote me and add me to ur sig)
