imhomer Posted April 23, 2006 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Cmon Aussie, cut him some slack. Personally I give it a 4/10. The proportions on the person are pretty good and the road isn't too bad. The bamboo (is that bamboo?) needs a bigger color gradient so you can see the sections better. The grass needs a little work but otherwise is ok. The thing he's riding.........well I haven't done the quest so I have no idea what it's supposed to be, I would reccommend you try to get more detail on it. Your biggest problem is the sky. The sky is utterly dull. The sun looks half-assed, wither make the lines out of it thicker or get rid of them. The transition between the horizon and sky is hard too. Try putting a few more trees in the way to break up the skyline. Clouds do a great job at filling up and empty sky too. Next shade the sky, make sure it's lighter around the sun than away from it. The final thing you need to work on is shading. A little shading goes a long way at making your pictures look 3D My advice: Work on details, the sky, and shading. Also consult at least one if not more of the tutorials on this forum. There is a great one by Terley that I would highly suggest. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's not bad overall, but can I know what is he ridding? An elephant, a gorilla, a butt or a un-named monster you invented? And I will start rating from left to right, the tree, it look like yellow prison cells with dusts all over! I mean, is that bamboo? I didn't know bamboo had so much leaves! Or is that a tree? Then it must be some "sprayed" leaves tree. The sun looks alright to me, cause I drew it the same way. :oops: Lmao. As for that man, when I first lay my eyes on it, I thought he was pregnant! What is that hat he's wearing? A straw hat? Look ain't bad either, at least he look more to "Asia" people. The road is alright, the sky is... Average, but I believe it's slightly plain IMO. Other then that, what did I miss out? Oh, rating. 4/10, the efforts and courages. 0/10 to tittle, I still wish to know in what way does it related to the mini game, Pest Control? --dowsysarch-- Posted April 24, 2006 Share Posted April 24, 2006 umm, i think its decent, 5/10. the main reason that i think people are criticising is that it looks "rushed", just because of the spray painted trees. The things i thin you should concentrate on are: - THE TREES AND LEAVES - the sun, looks a bit weird with them lines - the monster thing (make it more recognisable, maybe a diff monster, and also it kinda looks as if its floating) - add detail to the sky the other few things that you could change (not desperate) - shade so the horizon gets "faded", so its not a sharp line - the path looks like it slants off on too steep of a slant (if i make sense) i really like the character :) i think its a really good try (much better then most, including me, could do) dowsysarch Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For instence: The thing hes riding is on an angle, and theres a sword strapped to it thats not at an angle. I want to but alot of cartoon images have no shading.. maybe 2 shades .. 3.make the resemblance to a figure relatively close 4.work on sun..cuz i know its ugly :oops: 5.
