NEW UPDATE (#4) Christian WIP

dark_shadow

Recommended Posts

This is something new Ive decided to do. Jesus on the cross. It has taken me hours to get this far, but I think the overall product will be worth it. (going to do a PS brushed version, and a ms paint pixel version) any comments on the linework would be accepted. I will probably post updates here later.

as i said in the original post, this is just a WIP. i just did the basic shape of the cross. as soon as i start detailing, i will make the cross like grainy old wood, with chips missing.

thanks for the comments so far

are you a christian then? if so cool!

with the nails have them geoing through the ankles and the wrists, in the hands theres no bones, the body would just rip away from the cross.

imo the chest looks weird, not quite sure how tho, its asif its folding inwards :?

i agree with what was said about the cross, but as you said, its still a wip.

good work!

Anyway any picture of Jesus being killed for preaching his lies is good enough for me (y)

hey! i find that offensive, keep your low-life opinions to yourself.

and what i ment was theres no big bones in his hands, that would suport a person via a nail, it would simply rip open the hand. in the wrist theres the large bones for all up your arm, and they would be able to suport a body.

^ Wow PJB, I just realise I was being quoted in your sig. ROFL.

Anyway, HEY dark, it's been a longgggg time since you last posted! Where were you anyway? I missed your pixel! :) Nice WIP, really, but it need some more works like what PJB said, totally agreed with him! And being a christian is cool. :)

And it might be good if THOSE who are posting bad comment regarding offensive religious stuffs, I suggest you to back off, it's against the rules! :)

And meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the finished work! I might wanna use it as desktop wallpaper if it's turned out real cool. :D

Personally, I think the proportions are great, linework awesome - but I would never sum of the courage to act on a project like that.

What inspired you to do this?

But... It's true?

But....go away because you are breaking the rules, offending people and doing nothing for humanity wheras these "lies" have inspired millions around the world?

(No flame wars on that last part people)

Anyways, I'm christian but even if I weren't I would still like the piece for its cleanness. Good work so far. Only thing I don't like is that the ribs are too much like this \ /. Take the angles down a bit more.

If you don't believe in Jesus and God, please do not post your theories and opinions on here. I did not post this thread to ask whether you were a believer or not, and I definately did not ask for you to insult and offend me and the others browsing these forums who do believe. I made the title 'Christian WIP' so that people knew what it was about to start with, before they even entered the thread. So if you were just going to insult me and everyone else, why did you even come into this topic? I would appreciate it if you left this thread and didnt post again, so that this dosn't get locked, because all I am asking for is advice on my work.

No, I havn't been on these forums for a while. Ive just hit grade 12 (last year) and the workload has increased. I need top scores to get the university course I want.... but thats off topic. Ive returned temporarily :)

And yes, im a christian. The reason that I decided to do this picture is because of some things that happened at my Youth group on friday night, and its related to the things that our main leader said.

ok.. ive had some ideas on what Im going to do. The part that you've seen so far will be in the center of the overall picture. On the left I will be doing another cross (sillouetted) and another on the right. All three will be on a wide bit of 'cliff' (the top of the cliff) and in the background the sun will be setting/almost dark.. i didnt explain that very well but i know what i mean

Ill also add that ive got to add the advice that you all gave me :D such as put the nails through the ankle and wrists, the ribs... I coloured this part before I had the chance to check back here. thanks for all teh advice so far!

update: *note- i havnt done the face etc. still working on it.

Coloursample.png

*edit:which do you prefer? light version or dark?

JesuscrosslCOLOUR3copy.jpg

and when ive finished this, if anyone actually likes it, they can feel free to use it for wallpapers or whatever. but i would not appreciate it if you went around saying you made it...

Also, this is pretty much the first time ive used PS to make brushed pictures... so yeah... if its bad, i cant help it. dont have much practice

I like it very much and i do agree with the person who was talking about the nails going through his ankles and wrists, but it still looks very good. About one main thing stopping it from looking more realistic: blood. Lots and lots of it if your going for the realistic effect, just like the Passion of the Christ. And the dark one looks better, he would have gotten a lot of sun in his time, and he would have had a fairly dark complexion to begin with. But i like it anyways, and i like the reasons behind it. I'll be watching the progress of this for sure. Keep up the good work, and God bless.

yeah  im going to move the nails to go through the wrists, and ill fix up the ribs.. as you said, ill leave the colour as the darker version...

lol... I was going to add blood. I just havnt gotten around to it yet. I was going to leave it till last (like, after ive done the nails) so yeah  but believe it or not id actually forgoten that at this stage, so thanks for reminding me :)

thanks again for the comments, theyre really helpful :D
