Changing Names??? possible

I was just wondering whether it is possible to change ur RS name...

 

Since some of us have spent soo much time on this game it should at leats be fare to give us a second chance to chose a different name.

 

 

 

For some people who did not know how far they would get into the game and made names Dca91 or macewindu438 (By the way, numbers in a name especially at the end is completely unoriginal and pointless, unless its for a specific reason) there should be a second chance....

 

 

 

 

 

Again this is not to be made for all Jagex would have too much trouble for everyone. But chose people with 1500 lvls or higher, because they game would be more injoyable with a name they actually like this time..

No, it's not possible to change your Runescape name. If it was, imagine the chaos that would create.

JAGeX has been working on it for a while... it should be out with the next incarnation of RuneScape in '08..

I dont think that they should let you change your name as many times as you want, but maybe just once. If you were only allowed to change it once I dont think it would cause to much chaos.

I don't think numbers at the end of a name is pointless. If you think about how many names there are in the world, chances are someone else has yours ;)

 

I even checked first... and the character "Narakia" has no high scores, so I presume they quit the game very early, so I tacked on a "_1"

 

 

 

Allowing people to change their names at will would be annoying because...

 

1. Friends could change names and you wouldn't be able to reach them

 

2. Enemies could change names to pester you pointlessly

 

3. Spies could change names

I think you should, but only once for the whole game, like soembody mentioned earlier. And you should at least have 60+ combat,

I don't think it would be unreasonable to allow players with offensive names to change their name on a one-time basis only.

I would love to get rid of my runescape name (shyguy22297). I made the account a long time ago when I was into the mario games.(Shyguy is a character on Mario) It would be nice to change my name into something that I want to be called by, and something more meaningful. But as for now, I don't see any name changing happening soon.

this would be a great idea for people with abusive names to change them without affecting their hard work. however allowing everyone to change it at will would be hectic. however high lvl players that were very unsatisfied could give a reason to jagex and then have it changed perhaps, although they probably don't have the time

I really, really wish I could. Most people don't realize that my name isn't a reference to the king black dragon. In fact, when I was a lower level, people were always coming up to me saying things like "OMG, u can't kill a kbd!!!!1 lol!" At first, I didn't even know what people were talking about, it just so happens that my initials are very similar to kbd. And given my lack of originality when selecting screen names, I ended up picking my initials. And probably 2/3 of the people who talk to me in-game say "kbd." It's incredibly annoying and completely unintentional on my part that my name is so similar, and how was I supposed to know when I first signed up? All I did was follow a link from a website that posts all kinds of free games.

why? because there name MEMENTH is taken..

 

 

 

making the account for billing only numbers means that there is a INFINATE capasity for accounts

 

 

 

now.. you might not like this but for a "fee" in game or real life jagex could change your GAME NAME

 

 

 

this would be seperate from your billing account..

 

 

 

everyone would be given say 1 free change.. and from that point forward you pay a nominal 1 month fee for rs to change (this would be avilable for f2p as well)

 

 

 

for a time your "username" would be used to login to RS.. for the old players..

 

 

 

the NEW players would use there account number (we could come up with a Diablo style login where you could have X characters per account (paying individually for members?) and make it so you login to your account then select your character)

 

 

 

and current members could switch over to a numbers type account on there FIRST change of name..

 

 

 

this way you could have your name in game (yes you could have 500 mementh's lined up for a pic) and this woudl make reporting slightly harder.. but there are solutions for that...

There would be a problem with name changing.

 

Your friends on RS would have the wrong

 

account name on their friends list.

 

It would just make life easier to stick with the current name system.

it would work simalar to the msn chat system.. you add the account and chat is controlled by the account level and the accounts use the same friends list.

 

 

 

 

 

this way you could keep your friends :) (names could be set to show numbers or names

 

 

 

(you possably could still have the mementh012371 accounts but the in game name would be diffrent still)
