Merchanting...a True Skill?

if you play runescape to make as much money as possible then that is pathetic.

 

 

 

money making and business is for real life. we play games because its not meant to be real life.

 

 

 

if games are the same as real life then why would i waste my time on a game which represents real life?

Merchating skill or not:

 

Do you get experience from it?

 

-in a direct way: no, you do not.

 

-in a indirect way, yes, you do if you spend the money made in skills.

 

--> you always earn direct and lots of times indirect experience from real skills!

 

 

 

Is merchanting a hard skill:

 

-no, it is not a hard 'skill' at all. For myself, I am a very stubbern person, so if I don't 100% like somebodys offer, I ignore him so I make sure I don't make any losses. Also I always use a calculator :twisted:

 

 

 

Is merchanting worth the time in fun/money?

 

-not at all. I find lots more fun in training combat, training real skills and chatting to others while doing this, then continuing to press: selling/buying x-product! [name]

 

 

 

Merchanting.. it's effect.

 

Merchanting is adding value to an item by buying certain items and selling them more expensive. In my opinion, if you are not a 'collecting-merchanter' who buys lots of small amounts and sells a huge bulk, then you are a 'abusing-trader'. You are ripping people, because you got the same 1 item for a cheaper price and asking others to pay more. In a certain way, you are stealing from others. But hey, that is my opinion. I did it to once, traded for 3 days, making 2mill out of my own 300k.. But it didn't feel right.. :x

ofcourse its a skill, if it dosent take any skill, then why dosent everyone do it? even in real life some people make many millions merchanting, why dosent everyone do it?

Merchanting is merely a easier way for players to make money without having to build up skills in the game, because it takes more time and effort to build up a skill than it does to merchant.

 

 

 

Basically its for all those people who see the only important thing in the game is money.

- there is a very simple way to determine ur merchanting ability. sure theres not nice little numbers like the other skill but give 2 people same amount of money and let them mercahnt better one will have more/ more experinece.

- it may not be hard but its the hardest thing to do in runescape and NOT everyone can do it... sure u can make a few gps here and there and say mercahnting but were talking about real mercahnts who dont just hold rares or make a few k here and there.

 

- Anyone can come into this game and get all 99 skills just clicking away and alot of patience... .merchanting is a very risky skill especially dealing with rares and takes a knowledge of the market, knowing when to buy and sell items, knowing places to buy items... extra

- all depends on the person i find it much more boring sitting in one spot clicking a rock, moster, or whatever for hours. Mercahnting is risky and keeps u on edge if u know how to do it right... and i talk to friends while mercahnting as well... u dont have to spend every second merchanting typing... fourms help :wink:

- i think u forgot about the biggest merchanting market... rares. a person played last year could buy a party hat from 30-90mill where they can sell it now 100-300mill. and there are the merchants that spend an hour or two searching for a person to sell at a lower cost then most people buy. its not stealing if the person does not want to sell then thats his right... but good mercahnts can find desperate people willing to sell items fast which means not a price so high.

A little ironic how merchanting isn't really a skill, yet it takes more skill to do than the "normal skills" such as mining.

 

 

 

I think anyone that is against merchants or whatever are either jealous their "skills" can't make them that much money, or they have never tried merchanting before.

 

 

 

I'm jealous of successful merchants because i [bleep]ing suck at merchanting.

As ive said, for everyone here, start out with 5k and dont use any in game skills. by tomarrow tell how much money you have made.... then prove that it doesnt take skill to merchant.
