How2PK
Summer is comming again, and summer includes long and warm nights. And as summer brings along long warm nights, warm long nights bring along friends, drinks, BBQ's and of course music to relax too! As each season brings along specific music, what music do you want during the summer? What do you play at these hot afternoons and long sweaty nights! Or doesn't the season affect your playlist? During the summer I take it a bit easy on the rock records, clean up the colder and distancial pshycedlia and I'm more going for the funky, jazzy, worldmusic and blues to set the mood. I've already armed myself with the new Kraak & Smaak, some work from the Hed Kandi series, Tom Waits, Talking Heads, [bleep]en, Jack Johnson, Buena Vista Social Club etc. But I want more! And I bet there are other people who want more as well! So: music and BBQ tips, experiences and questions here! And try to keep it friendly. Oh, and try to name albums, not just songs. But if you want to name a specific song that's welcome too. :) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! How2PK
As Tim was too lazy to put everything in here, and I'm too lazy to filter the chat; here's everything. [10] The sunclub - Fiesta [10] it's general and you can name everything you want. If you got a death metal record with a summer feeling name it. I bet there's somebody who can do something with it [10] that's a golden oldie :P [10] The stranglers - Golden brown [10] put it into the topic~, not here. :P And albums are appreciated. :P [10] I pwn at making hamburgers. [10] Mmm. [10] Azvy [10] it's 10:55 [10] wth are you doing with burgers? [10] Eating. [10] Off to school soon. [10] Breakfast. :D [10] Oh, and Azvy. You should download Taling Heads - Stop Making Sense. One of the best live recordings I've ever heard [10] or buy it, that's even better [10] * Tim points to channel topic [10] Taling Heads? [10] Not Talking? [10] talking heads :P [10] What, Azvy? [10] Not Talking? [10] Isn't talking heads [10] ... [10] *isn't it [10] + question mark [10] Let me think of other tracks for you Daan [10] Oh [10] Sunny Trumpets [10] by however that was [10] Azy, it's Talking Heads [10] MDC or something iirc [10] You'll absolutely love PSYCHO KILLER [10] Alright [10] Btw, I listened to the Vai album [10] I fell asleep. [10] :b... [10] Talking Heads married punk rock sensibilities with poppy sounds, clipped funk, art school intellectualism, and later, world music. In David Byrne, they had one of the most distinctive front men of the period; they remained popular during their lifetime, and their concert film Stop Making Sense (which was made at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, and directed by Jonathan Demme) is widely acclaimed as one of the finest examples of the genre [1]. [10] Azvy [10] how can you fall asleep during that album? :| [10] Punk? Me no like punk. [10] It was boring. :D [11] Hmm [11] Jordan & Baker - Explode [11] Azvy, you'll like it [11] and the album isn't boring [11] freaking hobop [11] Hahah. [11] hobo* [11] London beat - I've been thinking about you [11] You piss me off :D [11] ;D [11] You're not taking me serious :P [11] with your freaking hamburgers 11 in the morning [11] Blur - Song 2 [11] put it in the thread, Tim! :P [11] Read it hear [11] You'd eat hamburgers 11 in the morning if you could make them as tasty as I do. [11] cba to go post everytime I have an idea, nor to keep the reply thingy open all the time [11] other people won't see it if yu only put it here [11] Punjabi MC - Mundian to bach ke [11] ooh, that song makes me so nervous :P [11] Doesn't punjabi mean vagina? [11] LMC vs U2 - Take me to the clouds above [11] punjabi is a language [11] spoken are Pakistan iirc [11] Oh? [11] punani means vagina [11] I think [11] I thought it was a word in a language [11] Yeah. [11] K-otic - Damn I think I love you [11] err [11] K's Choice - Breakfast [11] GET THAT [11] hilarious lyrics [11] Elton John - Tiny Dancer is a pretty summery song. [11] Daan - Housewife [11] Daan - Swedish designer drugs [11] Hahah. [11] swedish designer drugs is so cool [11] [11] K-otic - Damn I think I love you .... [11] Tim [11] you suck [11] Was just spilling ideas lol [11] at the time it wasn't even K-otic but starmaker :P [11] im browsing through 8k tracks [11] I know [11] I renamed my tracks [11] :P [11] Sita isnt too bad actually ;) [11] Marc Cohn - Walking in memphis [11] Dr. Hook - Baby makes her blue jeans talk [11] Judith - You [11] Judith - Scared [11] Sha-na - Eviva espana [11] (ahem. Not really.) [11] Judith, ugh. [11] She makes me feel depressed [11] Ashley simpson - Boyfriend? :D [11] Ashley, she makes me cry [11] The scorpions - Still loving you [11] The scorpions - Winds of change [11] Geen assertive womanrock. [11] which bassicly rules out every pop/rock music made by woman :P [11] Nik Kershaw - The riddle [11] Nickleback - Photograph [11] Flip Kowlier - In de fik [11] Ram Jam - Black betty [11] Nickleback, they make summery music? I thought they only made 13 in a dozen songs about how you feel when your girlfriend dumps you [11] scrap that suggestion then ;) [11] I'll just copy paste everything you named into the topic saying you said it. [11] (Unknown artist) - Wij willen tieten zien [11] :D [11] Not all of it is summery [11] but a fair bit is ;) [11] Warning: Flip kowlier = my dialect Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Bubsa
I'm gonna have to say Will Smith - Summer time. It's not in the genres you listed, but it is relaxing and makes me think of summer everytime I hear it :) This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. assassin_696
The Isley Brothers and Mungo Jerry are the two artists that bring back memories of summer to me. Other than that Jack Johnson is ideal for chilled out listening, and maybe some chilled out jazz. You can't go wrong with a bit of Simon & Garfunkel as well. The odd power ballad is nice, and even some country music, like Willie Nelson. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
