NOTE! This was on rants but I figured it fit better here. I don't really think I'm complaining, just educating)

 

 

 

It all started at seers bank. somone was selling torag hammers for 245k. thinking this was a good deal and that I could sell them later I bought them if not only to help him out. Well I tried equipping them and realized. I needed 70 str! Woah me. so I co train for a day or 2 to 70 str and equip them. I was proud of myself. then I discovered that they blow. so I sold them for 300k and decided to sink All my money into a flail. I get it and discover that on its own.. it too blows. So I sell it and begin to earn some more money. after about 2 weeks I manage to have 2.7m. I buy a whip and am very happy for about a week or 2. then I realize... I wanted more. I sell my whip and buy full torags (dam hammers again) after like 3 days I decided to move on so I sold it for 3m and bought a bunch of dds for 50k each. I ended up selling them all for 60k each putting me at about 3.6m I do this again but this time sell at 55k each and end up with a little more money. I do this 3 or 4 more times untill i reached about 4.7m I decided to go for dharoks at that point. but no one was going to take 4.7m and a bunch of items for it. so I spent 20 mins looking and eventually found somone that would give a d2h for what I had. I swapped the d2h for full dharoks and was happy for about another 2 or 3 weeks. then I wanted more again.I sold my gharoks for 5m and bought more dds and began doing this thing again. but at one point, I saw somone selling full veracs no helm. I gave her 3.2m total in some dds and some cash for it then decided to go for the helm i invested my remaining 1 point somthing mill in more dds and eventually got the helm. I was happy for about 2 months, kqing, dueling, I felt like god. Then I really wanted more. I sold my veracs and basicly everything I had and bought a santa hat. I was enthralled. I wore it everywhere I went (which was not the wildy or anywhere dangerous) and I had it for about a week. Then it happened. About a week ago I was fishing at catherby getting lobbs (I was only wearing steel boots, white gloves, khazard pl8, camo pants, str ammy, dds, and my Santa at the time) and my friend sent me a PM. I started typing back and looked up 10 seconds later to find myself in lumbridge. everything gone except my str ammy steel boots and dds. I had been typekilled by a dam troll. I started to panic. I ran to the chest and grabbed a law and 5 airs and teleported. I ran to catherby as fast as I could and began franticly asking "Did anyone find a santa?!" and someone walks into the bank saying "selling santa 20m!" (they were only 8m at the time) I asked him for it back and of course he said no. Now me, personally, I would have given it back. But seeing as how 99% of the population of runescape is greedy, self concerned, and rude. I never got it back. I sent a PM asking for it back and he said "he was selling it" I then asked if I could at least have 3m to start over. No reply. 6 months of saving. Gone. All my work and effort. Gone. Now I am at wits end. Mining coal and mith and cutting yews and fishing lobbs all over again. Another 6 months for me to waste getting nowhere close to where I was probably.

 

 

 

I invested in that hat, thinking I could sell it when the price hit 12m+ and get guthans. That hat will never see me again. In my whole 2 years of playing runescape, I have only met about 15 honest and decent people, and half of them were my KQ partners. (always gave back verac helm and always split drops) and the rest are people that I know IRL.

 

 

 

Well that's the (true) sad story of a Santa hat. I hope it will make you think and hopefully become honest like me and return a fallen players items.

Now had I kept all that I could have easily bought guthans. but I'm an honest player. You all should be too.

well its your fault for not paying attention to the screen and i dont think santa's even apear on the ground so maby that guy was lying and "can i at least have 3 m to start over?" sounds like a begger to me.so its your own fault and i almost thought you were a lying begger the end.

Yea most ppl are greedy but remember, items kept go by general store price. (Santa's go for hardly anything at gen store) So 9 times out of ten, unless you're not holding anything but the santa and you die, sadly, the santa goes...

 

 

 

My tip: Don't put all your eggs in one basket, sure a santa is nice but if you have a full barrows set, you only lose half of it.

And as for the lying bit... why the hell would I make up somthing like.... wait what were you accusing me of lying about again? you never said.

I am sorry that the troll got you, but I wish you luck in getting yourself back together. The community is so horrible nowadays. I meet alot of good players out there so there are more than 16 (one is me :D ). So I hope you find some relief in this crazy runescape that we now play.

well my m8 just said him and his friend will try to buy me d long zammy pl8 d legs d med and obby shield. Which is really nice but I don't know if/when it will happen. At least it gives me hope.

 

 

 

Seriously I came this close () to quitting. I gave away everything in my bank and went on one final fun run (gnomeball games room, agillity course race ect) but at that point I realized that the game is about fun.

 

 

 

Not the power struggle high priced economy that everyone turned it in to.

 

 

 

So I regret giving away my bank but I'm glad I did at the same time. I'm starting fresh. I gained 2 fishing lvls yesterday putting me 3 lvls away from my first goal of 76.

Thats why i think rares are stupid. Waste of money and to wear and then die and lose it.

So wait a secoond, that guy is not honest for not giving back your santa? Did he FORCE you to wear your santa and then FORCE you to not pay attention? I don't think so. What you did was YOUR free will, and what he did was his free will. All in all you caused this to happened, not much different than just you pressing a button that took your santa from you and giving it too that guy. And you top it off you come and whine about how always give back other people's stuff and he didn't. Obviously if you gave stuff back then HE should give your santa back.

Don't feel bad... I just lost my best two friends in RS in 48 hours.

The worst I've ever lost is a black cav- but I was level 55 and it too was my proverbial Santa.

 

 

 

This is yet another reason I don't like merchanting.

 

 

 

Sure, you can make quick cash. But if you lose it, you have no skills to quickly rebound.

true but if he's having fun wearing that santa about i guess you could say it was kinda worth it, i have rares but i don't have the guys to even take em out of my bank :?... i really only take em out when i need it, otherwise it sits in my bank nice and secure... i dun want to sell it and i dun want to lose it....

Well now theres an interesting point. Had Jagex ment for a it to be when a person dies there are no consequences they would have made it that way. If a person dies from something bad i will yes i admit, keep it. Unless it is really horid and i dont want it anyways or if it was from a friend of mine. I think that there has to be some penalty for dying. A free trip to lumby is pointless.

You know what they really need then? To let you pick the 3 items you would like to keep. This would also eliminate the "4 mystic tops protect over whip" scam entirely.

A few things.

 

You merchant your way to 8m, dunno if it's only me but merchanting isn't that hard to do to be honest, nor the most honourable thing to do. Yet you want people to be very "honest" by giving stuff they legimately found on the ground. Sure, it would be a very nice thing to do but they don't have to.

 

Also the way you would wear your santa everywhere and even fish with it, it seems to me like you almost wanted to get rid of it. Almost everyone knows santa's not worth 8m in the general shop.

 

Sorry for your loss but you still made the mistake when wearing the santa hat while fishing and not pay attention.

It sucks that it happened but its unfair of you to call someone names just because they want to keep an item they found on the ground.
