1.) Is this happeneing each time you boot your computer?

 

2.) Do you have and extra keyboard to make sure that it is not the keyboard.

 

3.) Did you download anything when/just before the problem began?

 

4.) Can you pop the keys off or is it some other type of keyboard?

 

5.) Are you willing to send me a check for $150? Kidding. =p

I agree. I would not have put up with it that long. I've been through 3 keyboards these last two months. =( RedBull + KeyBoard + Sometimes tea = useless keyboard

You must have real cheapo keyboards ive had mine for years its never been cleaned and has had god knows what spilt in it over time.

 

 

 

Its also been victim to keyboard-rage a few times and still works fine.

What types of tests have you done to assure yourself it's not a keyboard hardware problem?

Hmmm. Is it possible that somehow the computer could have been configured to not recognise the certain keys?

have you got windows xp? if you have go to start -> Acessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.

 

 

 

Go through the menus about restoring to an earlier date and select a restore point a few days before when you went away and see if that helps.

I was gonna suggest a new keyboard, but seeing as how you already said that wouldn't work

 

 

 

I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that you buy a new computer...I mean, bro, your computer sounds pretty messed up if it can't read the space bar :P. Maybe scan it for virii? You may have picked up an interesting little virus there, that you could get checked out. But those are my two suggestions.

Boot to the recovery console from the CD.

 

 

 

It shouldn't inherit any settings from Windows, so if it still screws up, it's very deep, maybe the keyboard controller hardware.

 

 

 

 

 

Another thing, if using a PS/2 or AT format (small/large round connector) keyboard, try a USB one.

If you actually read, his problem is fixed from a System Restore.
