First things first lets clear up rare definition:

 

The problem is everyone is thinking of rare in the runescape noun form, like "he has a rare." The idea was not saying that bronze armor is classified as a rare, but more describing it as rare, because it's not commonly seen, which perfectly fits the adjective, 'rare'.

I am using the true dictionary adjective:

Under the first definition of rare bronze is rare as it is uncommon and infrequently is seen.

 

 

 

If you don't understand this concept of rare please don't waste your time flaming the thread with "omg its not rare.it doesn't sell for loads....." You just come off as stupid and ruin the fun disscussionfor others.

 

 

 

I was just thinking and realised that rather ironically the most common metal, that most can make is actualy one of the rarest armours in a members world.

 

 

 

I mean think about it, guthans, dragon, phats you can wander around anywhere busy and see 3 or 4 of each within a day atleast.

 

 

 

But in a members world you can go for months or years without seeing a single bronze armour

 

 

 

Are there any other ironically common objects that have become 'rare' wiothin members I wonder?

rarest tradble item in game is bds - a super poisoned bronze dagger. i have never seen one. ever.

it is not rare it is just a rare sight bcoz most members r above lvl 40

it is a rare sight, but the armour is not rare itself. Rare implies that the item does not drop regularly or that it is extremelu hard to get.

Maybe because it's worthless and rubbish that people don't wear it?

I have a bronze dagger (+) and a bronze spear (+)...

I am not trying to make out like its some uber rare

Well, it isn't rare at all. There are some members that wear bronze, many if you ask me.

 

 

 

In Lumbridge I've seen a lot of people wearing bronze. That means it's not rare to see anyone wearing bronze.

 

 

 

Just because no monsters or few monsters drop high level bronze armour (KiteShield,FullHelmet,PlateLegs,PlateBody) doesn't make it rare.

i've seen a lvl 3 mod in the wilderness, had a bunch of people following HER. That was more rare...

atm my main [lvl 86] is wearing full bronze with cooking gauntlets, desert boots, glroy and a legends cape. looks the business 8-)

Actually rare means also hard to optain. Rare doesn't mean if you see anyone wearing it.

 

 

 

Since high-version full bronze can be smithed on low smithing level it's not rare.

Actually they are both right

 

 

 

Rare is something that is either hard to obtain or not something that is seen commonly

 

 

 

eg: (in real life) Having purple hair is rare as it is not common, but it is not hard to get you juts go to a salon

 

 

 

eg2: Diamonds are rare as they ahrd to get, but you see them everywhere in jewellery etc

 

 

 

In the sens of being hard to obtain bronze is not rare at all, but it is rare in the fact you is hardly ever seen within the game

Actually, it's somewhat rare to see bronze in f2p as well.

 

 

 

I see things like steel and frog masks a lot, but rarely bronze. Maybe it's just the places where I spend time...

Dragon Stone Necklace is rare too.

The scenario you're talking about would fit more with the word uncommon, not rare. Rare is too strong of a word to describe a bronze set :|
