A pretty effective punishment as a mid-teen when it is important to keep up appearances. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. I was spanked as a child and I resent my dad for it because he was always the one to punish me. It means that physical abuse is more tolerated in my family than it should be, the other week my dad sat there while my older brother beat me, really beat me, because I wouldn't move to a different space on the sofa. I can't wait until I have enough money to get out and have my own place because I hate it at home, a family isn't supposed to be like this. Physical abuse should never be allowed and spanking IS physical abuse, its a form of domestic violence. Children should never have toi feel afraid of their parents if they are brought up in a lovbing and caring environment. I work in a nursery, by law we aren't allowed to subject the children to any forms of physical or psychological abuse, but we still manage to get the points across to the children that what they did is wrong and they rarely repeat the offense, why can we do that and not parents?
