Globez
Im sure most people who have played a multiplayer game has heard "older" players cop flack from younger ones about their age, but what is too old to play games? Is there infact a socially acceptable age to play computer games, period? Or is it the genre of the game you are playing that determines it? Its very common to have a lot of 20+ year olds playing fps (first person shooters), and there wouldnt be as many younger kids and the older players would never get a bad word thrown at them about their age. But in a game like RuneScape, where it is dominated by younger kids and teens you often hear about/see older players getting told they should get a job or grow a life instead of playing a "kids game". How do you guys feel on the matter? Personally, I dont think there should be an age limit on fun, and if you're 30 or 40 or 50 and playing computer games is your idea of having fun and relaxing, then I say go for it. Would you feel odd knowing that one of your in game friends was 30 or older? Since you are both there for the same thing (playing the game.. I'd hope so anyway), does it really matter? For the record, i'm 15 (just incase anyone was wondering). Post your opinions.
Bubsa
I think as we move further into this new millenium, we will see the age 'limit' get older and older. I base this on the history of video games. Remember, they haven't been out that long. More and more people, as generations go by, will grow up playing video games and see it as common a pastime as watching the T.V. Therefore, I think more and more 'older' people will be playing games, because they've got older in recreation. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. logic-is-overrated
Being too old to play games is like being too old to trick or treat. And nobody is ever too old for free candy. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack. Scruffy5389
I am becoming more and more against role playing games as I grow older. I played runescape for a while before deciding that it was a pretty cheap substitute for real life. When someone goes online for social interaction and has digital goals that they take as seriously as real-life pursuits, I think that's pretty sad. For an adolescent going through a typical identity crisis, I can understand it, but for an older person, I would think it sad if someone who is supposed to have a mature life is just living an online life. That said, that's not why everyone plays. Many adults have fine jobs, fine families, and they play runescape (or other MMORPGs) purely recreationally. Runescape is not their life; it's a relaxation. I have absolutely no problem with that. It's just another hobby for their free time, like fishing or model building or something. Sounds good to me. And of course, I plan on playing first person shooters or N64 super smash brothers well into middle age. :P Bottom line: no age limit, as long as the game you play is not your life. That's okay as a teenager, not as a functioning adult.

deloriagod
I can honestly say I'm comforable having old friends... I tend to play higher end MMORPG's and I've gotten fairly tight with a group.. Most of them are in college or married and have jobs. It's actually more fun listening to some of their stories than listening to a bunch of kids go on about how uber their character is. IMO there is no age limit for anything. i read 'childrens' fiction because it is a series i loved as a young teen, and is still going. i will play this into adulthood i believe. Yeah, the second paragraph describes most adult rs players, and that's why I don't make fun of adult rs players, and I don't think there's any age limit. No_OnE
I know I won't ever quit playing. I'll be 90 years old and I'll be playing first person shooters on the newest system with my grandchildren. The limit is getting higher and higher as the first generation of gamers are getting older and older. Sooner or later, video games will be something like baseball and television. On a side note, wouldn't it be awesome to have a highschool gaming team...? hehehe

mrscrounger
I think when your older more important things in life like jobs, work, supporting a family should be the number 1 priorty. If you like to spend a couple minutes a night play a game fine with me. But if your 40 years old and spend all day playing game than you need to get a life. No offence :-w

It's aimed at teenagers and to a lesser extent people ranging from 18-24. That's also why it's so popular. PC gaming has a lot more older people playing, since alot of the games take more strategy/patience. PS2 also has a lot of older people, just because it has a lot of people playing in general.
