I believe this would fall under the last category.

Falls under item scamming, under misleading.

Only people stupid enough would go to the wilderness and fall for that scam.

 

 

 

I mean, the wilderness is good place to get access to some stuff, it isn't good for trading since people would just kill them.

How is it not misinformation?

 

In the scenario described by the original poster, Guy 1 is saying that his friend wants to give Guy 2 a dragon med in the wild when there is no intention of giving Guy 2 a dragon med at all. If that isnt misinformation i dont know what is. Same with in your scenario, Guy 2 has no true intention of buying the yew longs.

Tyrant, it's a reportable offence, it's classed as item scamming. There was a post about it on the official forums. It is similar to comvincing people to drop things in their house, and then booting them.

 

 

 

If it ever happens to you, you should report the person immediatly.

Well, I think that it probably is item scamming because you are tricking the guy into losing his items. A bannable offence.

I wouldn't ever use these tactics but they shouldn't be bannable offenses. Jagex can't be expected to protect the entire Runescape population from their own gullibility and lack of forethought. The third term of that offense definition, regarding "misinformation", most likely applies the same way it would in a real world legal sense. For example:

 

 

 

"Selling yew longbows 1k each"

 

"How much do they alch for?"

 

"1536 gp!"

 

 

 

In this case, a purchase would be made based on misinformation from the seller. This is the reportable offense. And like real world law, all people are expected to have some common sense of their own. The victim in this case showed responsibility in seeking information, and did nothing foolish, but still suffered. If you waltz into wild with your valuables expecting a deal, that is pure negligence and your own fault.

Luckily most peeps are smart enuf not to get scammed ths way.

Like the rest of them said, "Bannable!" I think anyone can fall for scams, although most people know the current ones but are fooled by new ones. When the edge lruing scam came out, no one knew about it and tonnes of people were falling for it. As it became common knowledge not as many people fall for it now.

Sum peeps USe the Entran. Scam....Its pitiful how a game can turn into Greed For Petty Pixels On a computer Screen. :evil:
