Little guy in the big city... (exceptionally short post :^0)

Featured Replies

I know that this is an awkward title, but I find it befitting. Tonight, I found out the true meaning of "over my head".

I was wrapping up cutting 12.2k willows (finally!) and was preparing to fletch and burn them all when a friend of mine (let's call him Free Willy :)) pm's me asking if I want to join him to kill the chaos elemental. Normally, my reason would've screamed thyat it was a stupid idea for a level 89 with 66 ranged and a level 92 with 72 ranged to try to duo this behemoth, but the boredom of spending 8 straight hours with those willows rendered my feeble mind unable to work properly. I agreed, and we were off.

From a previous experience, I knew that melee'ing the Chaos Elemental was a BAD idea. So we decided to range him, as magic just wouldn't fly. So, after the always annoying process of preparing and meeting up in South Ardougne Bank, me and Free Willy were off. We agreed to split any loot we got in half, and pulled that ominous switch. Keeping quiet, we dashed to the Elemental, him with high hopes and with me secretly writing my character's eulogy. The first run went alright, with both of us still protected from mage and with food in our inventory. He damaged the monster more, so I was crossing my fingers as he told me the drop...dragon bones. Yes, dragon bones...how can a tentacle infested cloud drop that?! Cursing our luck, we re-stock and go again..this time, things weren't so good.

It seemed alright at first, but he began to cast more unarming and teleother spells than usual, leaving us vulnerable. We got him down to about 3 hp when we both ran out of food. He fled, and I soon followed. And then I made one of the stupidest decision of my life...with only 50 hp remaining, I go back. Yes, I run towards a monster that could 2-hit me, thinking I could still do it. Seeing two spells heading my way, I chickened out (how noble of me ) and ran for my ever-loving life. The first one comes...BAM!...hit for 24. I thought I was dead, since I swear I have seen this thing hit me with a 26+. 26 hp left, come on...don't hit me high...BAM!...25! Me wondering if I had miscalculated and was in fact dead, found myself with 1 hp and accidently entering a wolf-infested area. One turns to attack me, but I'm running fast enough to get away from him before he does (I had just gotten 70 agility a few days before). My energy almost to 0%, I see the hut with the lever and a web that has already been cut open. Hoping my friend did that, I manage to teleport back to Ardougne. Collecting my calm, I pm'ed my friend...he had absolutely no problem escaping (since I took all the blows :D) and was who-knows-where doing who-knows-what. So what did we do? Try again!

This time, however, I persuaded Free Willy that it would be a good idea to kill the KBD instead. Although neither of us had killed him before, it was supposedly easy to kill him. Why not? Having no idea what to bring, I carried full initiate, a d scimmy, some pray pots, a anti-fire pot, and some food. And we were off...again. Pulling the switch, we took the ice plateau route again and tried to find the lair. We went down a ladder near the lava maze and found ourselves on a small strip of land infested with a bunch of aggressive poison spiders. This couldn't be it...there was no ladder in sight. So we go back, traverse through the lava maze, and go down that ladder. Looking all around, we were pummeled by poison spiders and the anti-social black dragons, still not finding the ladder. So, getting in a safe spot, I look at tip.it's map to the lava maze(underground), finding out that that strip of land we visited over had a switch that sent us to the KBD! A switch! So we go back to the small strip of land (which I will forever dub Poison Isle) and pulled the switch. What did we find?! A level 124 with a fire cape beating up the kdb. We tried to keep up, but to no avail....although I did get to see a 40 done on the dragon (). Free Willy, as usual, logged out, found an open world, and called me there. Because the KBD had just respawned, he started to pummel me with his dragonfire. I finally get away and log out, breathing the typical sigh of relief. Go time!

I logged in, only to find my friend without prayer, trying to duel the KBD with a combo of monk's robes and black dhide armor. He was out of food by the time I got to him, and I tried to finish the dragon off. Because of previous damage I had taken and my inexperience, I took far more damage than I had hoped. I drank a anti-fire potion, but it did practically nothing. Why do people recommend it?! Somebody's got to clue me in on it sometime. Anyways, Free Willy flees, only to be unable to find the lever to leave the area. He, after being under fire for nearly 30 seconds, dies, losing all his stuff because he was skulled eariler on (apperantly he accidently attacked me when I was going down the ladder instead of clicking on the ladder itself...go figure ). Noticing I'm running out food and realizing I'm certainly not going to survive much longer, I wrap up the KBD, dash for his stuff, and grab everything I can, even eating food in order to hit it all. After some trouble, I find the lever and pull it. I'm becoming frantic now, thinking that I'm going to die in the wildy with only 25 hp, resulting in both the loss of my items and my friend's hope in my abilities. Once I reach Poison Isle, I quickly climb up the ladder, and realizing I have no items that can tele, I make the journey from 55 wildy to Edgeville.

I make it there safely, giving Free Willy his orginal items, the 15 bloods the KBD dropped, and a couple of sharks (I had accidently used up the last remaining dose of prayer potion Free Willy had, so this was my way of repaying him). I logged off for the night...or so I thought. I soon found myself logging back in. Instead of fletching and wrapping up the night with a couple of levels, I pm'ed Free Willy. "Want to do it again?" "Sure." We prepped again, with me looking in the Archive of Wisdom for a good guide. More knowledgeable this time, we set out, this time taking a slightly different path to the KBD. When we found a door in the gate that seperates Member and Non-Member wildy, we found a vicious looking player with mystic, splitbark, and a d scimmy. We were about to log out, but the white dot disappeared before we had a chance. I guessed he thought we were pk'ers or something. I was wrong. A few seconds later, the green dot of Free Willy was replaced with a white dot, which belonged to the person who had just logged out. Running towards me at deadly speed, I log out when he was about an inch away of me. A couple of minutes later, me and Free Willy manage to meet up near the ladder that leads to Poison Isle. To battle!

Things almost work like clockwork now, with both of us doing things almost perfectly. We kill the KBD, recharge at altar, and go back for more. The third trip, however, was a mistake. Left with only a few tuna potatoes each, we took a risk...and almost lost everything. Free Willy ran out of food early on in the battle, but decided to go on until he died, leaving me to pick up his remains again. I, on the other hand, forgot to turn off strength and attack boosting prayers, leaving me with 12 pray points left by the time I realized. He dies, and I try to finish the KBD. I could've done it, but I forget to check my remaining prayer points. Woo-woo-woo...I was out of prayer. Great. Just Great. And to top it off, I was hit a 23 before I could re-activate it. Using my last tuna potato, I run for Free Willy's stuff, grab it all, and again try to find that lever (how about a giant portal, jadex?! How about a portal that shines brightly and has a neon sign that says "Exit"!). And when I finally reach it, I remembered I had an ectophial and that it would work because I was not technically in the wildy.

Port Phantasma (or whatever it's called...Jadex derives pleasure from odd names, I tell ya) greeted me as I checked my status. 17 hp left. That wasn't so bad, was it? Better than 1 hp, anyways. I pm'ed Free Willy, only to find that I could keep the junk he left behind.

Through all of that, we only ended up with a rune large, which Free Willy gave to me (after 5 minutes of "you keep it" and "no, you keep it"), which alchs for about 19.5k. It was one "wild" night, though, and certainly one I won't forget anytime soon.

Maybe I should've just stuck with fletching the willows...

Thanks for reading, guys! Anyways, I want to clear up a coupple fo things:

1) I intentionally used jadex, as Bubsa accidently said it once and it has become an official way to refer to the company when you complain about the details of their handiwork.

2) I did bring both anti-fire pots and an anti-fire shield.

3) I looked it up in the Blogscape stickies, Jwrm; the forum is for diaries and for recording day-to-day events, not for stories.

This is easily one of the best stories i've read on the tip.it forums. Well written and detailed, I almost felt like I was there myself. Great job. =D>
