Ok here we go, basically im f2p, and looking to increase my crafting and hopefully make a profit or at least break even. 1st of all, i dont really want to do leather os its down to silver or ammys.

so with the silver 1st) is it possible to sell tiaras to players, is there even a market? or is it general stores for me?

2) and this is the big one, where o where can i get my hands on gems in decent amounts? do i really have to only use the gems i stumble on in mining? is buying from players profitable? if so what prices? and apart from mining/players is there another reliable source?

thanks a lot for any help given :D

when buying in mass amounts these are the prices i typically see...bear in mind there are some people who will be trying to buy for ridiculously low prices (i once saw someone trying to buy diamonds 150 each  ) and some people who will be trying to sell for high prices

sapphs 200-500 each

emmys 500-2000 each

rubies 1-3K each

diamonds 3-5K each

uncut gems typically sell for more than cut gems (when buying from players), since they offer additional xp

get your picaxe, mine, if you get any gems, well done, now bank your ore and sell it, use that cash to buy more gems

Ok here we go, basically im f2p, and looking to increase my

crafting and hopefully make a profit or at least break even.

I have level 75 crafting in F2P and I can craft everything that a F2Per

can make, and, IMHO, crafting in F2P is a money losing occupation.

"Money losing" in that it will take a very long time to

earn back the money that you will spend raising it.

1st of all, i dont really want to do leather os its down to silver or ammys.

You could try Clay bowls.

Everything that you need is in the crafting guild so

there's not much walking or buying required.

Clay bowls give 33 exp.

Hard leather gives 35, Tiaras give 52.5

so with the silver

1st) is it possible to sell tiaras to players, is there even a market?

or is it general stores for me?

General store.

A player only needs 1 tiara for each altar so there's not much of a market.

(I have about 15000 tiaras sitting in the bank lol )

2) and this is the big one, where o where can i get my hands on gems in decent amounts?

do i really have to only use the gems i stumble on in mining?

is buying from players profitable? if so what prices?

and apart from mining/players is there another reliable source?

Check the "Crafting" market forum.

Even then, I don't think that you will get enough gems fast enough.

Your best choice is to probably do silver if you have a lot cash,

or leather if you have less, or clay bowls if you have very little.

Hope this helps

yup that would have been me 8-) and hey, it worked.

i got a lot of gems from the mos giants or randoms. my mining lvl isnt that good, never bothered to get it up. always have some money on you so you can get the gems of gem traders before someone else does.

players although sell them in general stores. why? i dont know, but try the one in varrock. you might have to wait a little bit.

i went through the same dilema

it depends on if u wanna make a profit or not

here are the 2 ways

trading cuts for uncuts but u dont make a profite u break even

then u can buy gems for these prices and no higher!! or else u wont make a profit

saphires 100 ea

emeralds 200 ea

rubys 500ea

and dont buy diamonds if u do 2k

then u make all the gems into necklaces!

sell them to the bandit general store

ull get more money

or u can make tiaras but noone buys

for some reason general stores pay more for necklaces than they do for ammies (be they unstrung, strung, or enchanted)

also, all ammies sell for the same price as a ring made with the same gem for some reason...

i researched all this stuff, the quickest way to get crafting xp by yourself is to kill cows at crafting guild, and tan and craft the hides.. then drop them =P (it'll cost 3gp per hide though)

i didn't keep my stats, but making the clay in the guild wasn't far behind the cow hides... maybe 7 minutes for the clay and 5 minutes for the cow hides?

i ended up buying cow hides and using them to get to lvl 70 crafting =P
