July 18, 200619 yr ok, my question is why do you buy rares. I buy rares, not so much to show off, but to invest and merchant. I rarely wear my partyhats because i get sick of people trying to follow me around and trying to scam me because my combat level isnt that high. *Another reason is that i once died with santa (killed by evil chicken when forgetting to use protect magic and using pro melee instead :wall: 99 Ranged F2P achieved 21 November (2961st)
July 18, 200619 yr To show off... but sometimes people have all they want/need and they go ahead and buy extras -War Elixir- -Igor 10-Good old pking...
July 18, 200619 yr Investment,Show off,Symbol of Wealth,Merchant. It's also a goal to work towards. Thanks to WithTheQuickness for the sig!

July 18, 200619 yr because its RARE and to show off  [Admin edit: you need to upload your picture if you want it displayed]
July 18, 200619 yr i merch rares so i can use the profits to help improve my skills like smithing, magic and ranged, for which u need money to buy runes, arrows and bars...
July 18, 200619 yr So that I finally can meet Gold Diggers and enjoy them. Visit my Runescape comedy website, based on in-game screenshots.
July 18, 200619 yr they are rare and they are a symbol of wealth or how long you have been playing. shops buy phats for about 2gp but you can sell them to players for 100 mill.
July 18, 200619 yr To accomplish a long-time goal, showing off (I'll wear it like 24/7, exept of course combat, wildy, duh) That is, IF I ever get a phat. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
July 18, 200619 yr I bought my mask for a few reasons: I don't intend on ever selling it, but seeing it rise in price always brings a smile to my face  It looks really cool with green dhide. it gives me a sense of...identity. Though that may sound a little wierd. There will only ever be more and more high lvled players, people who hit 99 in whatever skill, but there is a maximum number of rares, one that will only ever go down. Esentially there are 2 things that, if lost, would make me quit runescape. The first is my mining level, the second my mask. They are the 2 biggest achievements of my runescape account, and 2 things that I probably couldn't get back if I lost. I'm an f2per, so any sign of wealth is nice. Members have more ways to make money then I can count, and there's a lot more to merchant with... Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )
July 18, 200619 yr Its status.... Its like driving in a brand new convertable with 20" rims - that spinn - you also have that huge amp sitting in the trunk with the music vibrating the whole neighbourhood. Something like that. In Khazakstan we say God, Man, Horse, Dog, then Woman, Rat and small cockroach..M.A.D 4 Lyfe
July 18, 200619 yr I have blue mask. I've always thought (besides white phat) it was the nicest rare to have. I worked really hard back then and bought it for 800k which was a lot at cb 42 and F2P. But I'm very proud of it and no matter what my skills are now I know I did alot for it and I earned it without ever scamming others or using autoers... Now I just wear coz I know people fancy it and it looks so d*** good on blue mystic :P SOJ 2016 goals: all skills +30mil xp - Completed this goal 11th December 2016 2017 goals: get at least 3 more master capes (start xp: invention done@21st Jan, mining done@2nd April & ranged 76/104mil done@June 20th) & all skills +40mil xp (done 24th August)
July 18, 200619 yr Agh, I seriously don't know why people like the way masks look now. I was so mad when Jagex changed what they looked like in the RS2 switch. Not to offend anyone who likes them or has one (I owned a red mask), but I think they just look dumb, on anything. But the only reason I buy rares is for the investment. Even if they are decreasing in value at one point, it's still going to go up. If only I bought 13 Easters at 3M each... I'd have a phat, not 3 santas...
July 18, 200619 yr I got a purple phat when they were 25m. Was my biggest goal ever. Got it and sold it back for 25m 2 days later cuz i didn't feel like having it. I thought its dumb after i found out its worth 1 gp in the store

Its just a fact that in f2p, after you have gained a certain amount of money, its too much (well not really, but i semi quit and if i would spend all my money on skills, i would be busy for months using these resources) to spend so you start looking for rares. First you get a santa or mask, but then you want to get higher and look for the phats. That is the ultimate thing to achieve for a f2per IMO (itemwise). Ever since i owned a green phat and sold it, i wanted one back and eventually got it. It makes me feel proud that I have achieved something that very few people have  A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!
