Giordano
Grounded for not finding a job. Wow. I would stay in Arizona like Bubsa said. :) "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." Tigra00
Dude, when I was 15, getting a job was one of the last things I cared about. Your parents are douche bags. When you're 16 or 17 you should have a job, but at 15 you're still a child. At least at 16 you can drive, thus you have something to look forward to...Around here, you can't get hired ANYWHERE unless you're 16+. Well, you could probably walk beans or de-tassel corn or something. Or do what I did: Mow lawn! Wooohooo! I mowed 4 lawns (mine and my neighbors) one summer when I was like 12 or 13 and made about $400. :P Was hardly any work and I went out and bought a Playstation with it (PS1 omg oldsk00lz!)...It was awesomeness. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
Kwisatz
Someday you will thank them. You will be successful and able to cope with virtually whatever life throws at you, unlike some of the spoiled morons I know who sit around doing absolutely nothing and get cars, insurance, scholarships, computers and spring break trips handed to them by their parents. I take pride in the fact that I have a job and work 30 hours a week at it. It simply demonstrates how you are more equipped than others. My dad is the same way and makes me work pretty hard but I'd say that it's worth it because consequently I'm much less of a [Richard] than many of my contemporaries. My parents can afford to give me pretty much anything I'd want short of something drastically unrealistic, but at this point I wouldn't want that because then I'm at their mercy and don't feel very much accomplishment. For instance, the computer I'm typing this on I bought and built myself with money I earned from hours and hours of labor, not something my parents gave me for an Easter present. I value it much more because of this, as well as many of my other possessions: web site, MP3 player, speaker system, other computer, etc. Every big-ticket item I own was paid for my me, and I'm damn proud that I put in a bit of elbow grease to get it rather than get it handed to me for getting a 3.5 average on my report card. Once you get out into the real world, you'll be thinking "The bar has just been lowered, baby!" and you'll be so much happier that you're able to work smarter, harder and reap more benefits from it than people who are utterly confused as to what to do with their lives. Granted I don't necessarily believe that you should be grounded for not finding a job, but I think that you should make a good effort to get and keep one. I'm really glad I have somebody to identify with. I work a 40-hour week all said and done. I mop floors, do accounting, fix computers, weed, mow the lawn and do a bit of consulting (but I don't get paid for yardwork or certain consulting things, since they're rather informal). In short, more power to ya. Although it may seem harsh, keep at it and remember - no matter what anybody tells you with regard to their status, unless they got there by doing it themselves it means nothing, and their fortune is anybody's but their own. You, on the other hand, are making your future and are better than them, and don't let any two-bit lazy [puncture] tell you otherwise. handed me TWO tissues to clear up. I was like "i'm going to need a few more paper towels than that luv"
deloriagod
I really doubt we're getting the whole story. What happened in Arizona exactly? I doubt a 15 year old was shipped off and told to get a job without any kind of support on the other end of the flight, a relative to stay with or something. That relative could back him up if he actually tried to get a job, but since he's grounded, I'm guessing there's a legit reason for it. If I remember correctly he told us about his time in Arizona a month or so ago... He went to stay with his aunt and uncle. He got into an agruement with his uncle and one of their cats got really sick so they sent him home.. But that's about all the info I have.. :-k Internet Marketing For Newbies
indy500fan
Cost of Raising a Child says average "$161,580 to raise a child born in 1996 to age 18." obviously you were born before that, but its only a little lower. parents help you out more than you think. if you dont want to look at it from a "how much parents help you out" perspective, read what BTTF said. youll be much better prepared for the outside world, which pretty much sucks (worked 8:00AM to 9:00PM 3 days this week, along with my other 2 8 hour days). and i think alkatmsu is right also, we are only seeing one view of the story, there is probably something we are missing. My Aunt sent me home like 3 days after my b-day. My dad called on my b-day and asked if I had a job. All of them you had to be like 16. Also, my Uncle and I got in a fight about God. But that's the story. I understand the working part, but the grounding is stupid. I got grounded 4 days after my b-day because I didn't get a job. Edit: I have a job. I just couldn't get one in Arizona because I was in the middle of no where and the age is for 16. I have one in my hometown and it is awesome. I fix peoples computers and my boss is awesome, but my boss boss is like the lady from "The Devil Wears Prada" and he's from the military. I'm an intern as of now. I <3 Gears of War 2.
