My Dad wanted me to come home early from Arizona because I couldn't find a job there, so now I'm home, grounded for 5 months, and have to pay my dad back for the airplane ticket while saving money for a car. Ugh.

I'm 15, as of a month ago, and for that reason of not finding a job in Arizona.

Yes he did, although he got off very lightly if I remember.

It is harsh. Yes, I tried to get a job as a lifeguard, but that didn't work out to well. If you knew my dad, you'd understand. He has his own company that is pretty successful after he was poor for 20 yrs. of the begginning of his life. He's also making me read 2 books and write a 3 page report on them. "The richest man in Babylon" and "Screw it, Let's do it". My sister is also grounded and having to do the same thing because she didn't give enough gratitude or something. I also have to work 30 hours a week for my dad, even if I have a job. The job working for him is pulling every weed in out canyon (About 3 acres), it goes down hill, and there is about 20 weeds in on square inch. Not Joking. Then we have to rip out all the sagebrush on that hill. About 50+.

EDIT: If you guys want a second opinion on my dad, PM Zeekyhbomb. He's my friend IRL and he will know what I'm talking about and give you a good view on my dad.

your parents seem to have some controll over you... cant remember being grounded but once (age 12). than i started telling them why it was unfair and so on. guess they never wanted to hear that again, but now im too old for that anyway :XD: ...

I would be a rebel and just do it anyways. They usually don't mean it or don't care.

I've never been grounded... Maybe because a few hours after, my parents are done being angry :P Besides, I would just laugh out loud if they told me to go into my room as a punishment #-o

That sounds ridiculous. You seriously need a chat with your parents because being grounded for that reason is nonsense. Either that or move out. Don't let your parents control you like that.

^ Totally agree. Tell him that you wont let him push you around. Not being able to get job aged 15 is not your fault. To ground you for 5 months based on that is bullying. Tell him that and if he doesn't let off, I think you'ed be better off going round to a friends.

My parents threaten to ground me from stuff that I 'love' (my computer, tv, ect..) but they never actually ground me.. Too bad though, I'd like to see the look on their face when I don't care that I'm not allowed to use my computer for a month.. :-k

 

 

 

And you should probably have a talk with your dad.. I'm 15 and I'm going to wait till I'm 16 (with a car) to try to get a job. I can imagine it would be hard to get a job at 15.. Btw, sophomores 4tw :thumbsup:

Do what I do. Pretend to love nothing. :P Then, they can't ground you from anything.

 

 

 

But, that is completely unfair. Your father shouldn't push you around like that. Sounds like he has no respect for you or your sister. Sounds like time for a rebellion to me.

Wow heaven forbid a parent should expect their children to be productive :roll: My sister got a job lined up for herself before she even turned 15, and we live in a small town.

 

 

 

I really doubt we're getting the whole story. What happened in Arizona exactly? I doubt a 15 year old was shipped off and told to get a job without any kind of support on the other end of the flight, a relative to stay with or something. That relative could back him up if he actually tried to get a job, but since he's grounded, I'm guessing there's a legit reason for it.

 

 

 

Five months is a long time for a grounding though, but if that time is to work to pay back the plane ticket, it seems fair in that case. Pay it back sooner, get ungrounded sooner?
