Problem with the way jagex updates the triangle?

this is NOT a rant.

 

 

 

 

 

As we all know people are always complining about certain skils being over or underpowered but when jagex decides to update one of the combat skills does anyone else think they seem to go a little over board and then make the skill to powerful (ex. ancients). Then they seem to be forced into making the other skills better to rebalance the triangle but then they go overboard again (this seems like it may occur wiht the new range update but im not sure yet). This worries me because with every update jagex makes to keep the skills balanced they seem to make it so people of lvl 60 for example can do much more damage then people who were lvl 60 a year ago could.

 

 

 

Does it concern anyone else that one day the amount of damage may catch up to hitpoints and we will have people hitting like 60's and 70's on a regualr basis causeing pking to become a joke?

 

 

 

just curious as to what u say. If u agree tell me so if u disagree tell me that but please tell me why.

Well it's ok for range to be overpowering. They've underpowered for years now. And besides, in real life, if you got shot by a crossbow, you would straight up die. Where as in runescape, if you get shot, you can just run and attack the person.

 

 

 

So consider the reality in that.

my point exactly and it seems liek jagex might keep digging its grave deeper by trying to add things beter than ancients to counteract them.

consider the reality? then i'll probably use a scimitar and slash at ppl's legs and see them crawling away instead of in rs, where hitting your head with my r2h can enable you to still run

I think they should add an antifreeze potion to help resist the ice spells. (not completely though)

 

 

 

Range seems fine as it is, after the update. Crossbows are the slowest ranged weapon, and the new effects aren't that common.

 

 

 

Melee gets poison daggers they can strike with before pulling out their bigger weapons.

 

 

 

Though I have never been a member, that's my opinion on how the triangle stands. On f2p, it seems magic my need slight boosting for very high levels, though.

~10 out of 10 cows agree. The greatest Runescape addition was the rubber chicken.

 

~Today, we watch Runescape's grass grow. Tomorrow, we watch it's pots boil!

F2p magic definetly need to be made better. 59 is the hightest attack spell level. The max hit is only 16.

ON-TOPIC: People have been ranting about range being Under-powered, then Jagex finally powers them up and people complain still. It's the same with magic. Mages complained that compaired to warriors rangers and magers were underpowered, so thus, Acients and Crossbows. So SHUTUP ranters!!!

So what they seem to do is release an update for one of them that slightly over powers the other 2, then release an update for one of the others and so on, that way over all they can try and keep it even. also it means that when they make magic too strong, (ancient magiks) then that encourages ppl to use magic, then when say the crossbow update comes encourages ppl to use ranged. They seem to do this wit most skills, means ppl r more likely to train all there skills which is good for jagex as ppl wont get bored and quit the game as quickly, as theres more to keep them here.

yes but if they keep this up like i said people will be hitting 60's and 70's and eventualy 99's and it will make pking a total joke no one will set foot in the wild. It has to end somewhere.

frankly the triangle debate is one that everyone rants at at some point.

 

 

 

there are however certain aspects tyou have to think about.

 

 

 

melee can hit highest yes. it needs to. you have to run up and connect witht he person to deal that damage.

 

 

 

mages only wear robes. therefore the fact they can bind and freeze people seems fair to me. otherwise meleers woudl just run up and ko in about 4 hits.

 

 

 

range has certain protection for meleers but not much and pretty good against mages. also if u swithc to longrange you can hit em if ur frozen

 

 

 

if the ice spells did less damage it may be a bit fairer but frankly im not too bothered by it,. i dont pk so the triangle has never ultiamtely affected my actions. i balance out so they really dont aply anyway. the triangle applys to pures more doesnt it?

I disagree with Jagex making these combat updates. As you said, 60s 70s will be a common sight. PKing already has no stragry, barely. The common lv 60 can PK. Snare/Entange, dds spec. Dead. No straigy. (sp)

 

Jagex should stop listening to players, since most who rant are little kids.

i think that they should raise the hitpoints max and make a food better than sharks. rangers hit ultra fast so they may not be able to hit really high but they hit fast as hell, yes ancients is powerful but those runes cost a whole lot of money. but i do agreee they need to stop listening to players because when they make an update everyone of the other class complains i think that people should try and keep balanced instead of trying to be one combat class. But i do fear for p2p pking because if people are hitting to high and they do not upgrade the hitpoints stat or make a better food then sharks then it will be hit hit dead. why do you think so many members pk in free to play because they can get kills with thier stats and in members they die.

definitely. and f2p magic armor/ robes need to be better. even with a amulet of magic, blue wizard robes, and a staff, the def bonus is less than 100....with the best range and melee armor for f2p, the def bonus at least 100. i think f2p mage armor should become better and have better weapons for mages, not just staffs :pray:

The best thing JAGeX can do is watch the metagame and rebalance existing equipment and skills.

 

 

 

However, you'd get people who will cry about their beloved overpowered abilities now being balanced, so it's hardly conducive to a good business plan considering the target audience. Hence, to "balance" things, they just add on more things that only provide a temporary fix before becoming overpowered themselves.

 

 

 

And of course, it would be far too hard to edit a few class variables in an object-oriented language like Java...

the problem is.. you can't just add hp.. to make it more the 99 hp is not possable for the game...

 

 

 

I think the problem is.. each skill blends somewhat with another.

 

 

 

Mage uses Dragon Daggers poisoned.... Range uses magic.. Melee uses magic...

 

 

 

What i would like to see is some sort of "life bag" that works simalar to essence pouches...

 

 

 

You take a food put it in this bag.. it "magically" becomes Health. When you get hurt it brings your health back up to the max available in the bag automatically. It woudl hold lets say equal to your current HP.

 

 

 

But while holding it in your inventory it makes all magic and range attacks unavilable.

 

 

 

It can't be refilled on the fly.. it would require a "converter" to transfer the healing ability of the food to a formt he bag understands.

 

This would take all the food possable so if it takes 3.4 sharks to fill it would use up 4 total and the wasted would be waste. Now it would take time to convert say 30 seconds for the animation.

 

 

 

This would be a way of giving a boost to pure meleers and not downgrade the others.. putting things back in a triangle to a degree
