September 6, 200619 yr First of all mods, if I put this in the wrong forum, I apologise, move it for me please :) . I was searching the web, and I came up upon a virus site- googkle.com.DO NOT GO TO IT!!! Once you visit it, your computer will become infected, all because of a mistype. So everyone, be careful next time when you type google, because the damage could be costly. If you want more info go to these websites that describe the damages in more detail. http://www.xpforum.co.uk/forums/windows ... #post37131 http://www.xpforum.co.uk/forums/windows ... #post37131 http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art31213.asp You welcome guys! : Any hockey fans out there who wants to chat, just send me a PM!!!
September 6, 200619 yr Interesting. Gotta say it's a good idea to give people virus's, lame though >_<... Thanks for the heads up.
September 6, 200619 yr I advise you to change the title, right away. People who don't read what you said will go to the site. Tell people that the site contains virusses and spyware, then mention the name. If you guys have any spyware; I recommend you to install 'Hitman Pro'. A great program with the best free anti-spyware all in one. It does everything by itself as well, you only have to click once or twice to do the entire scanning and deleting process from the several anti spyware programs. It even rid me of virusses that bugged me. Bill Hicks[/url]":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. September 6, 200619 yr I still can't figure out why people make and distribute viruses and spyware. I extremely dislike those who prey on innocent people misspelling a website URL.. horrible. Thanks for the heads up though. Slayer500 / 23M+ Prayer XP / 126 Combat in Spring '06

September 6, 200619 yr I still can't figure out why people make and distribute viruses and spyware. I extremely dislike those who prey on innocent people misspelling a website URL.. horrible. Thanks for the heads up though. Distributing a computer virus is a very overt way of making it widely known that certain developers have been careless with their code and security measures, and as such have allowed certain exploits to be used to detrimentally affect systems. A lot of virii that have gone around could actually have been far worse, but what the people who code and distribute them really want to do is alert the public as well as developers that the OS or other product in question has glaring security problems. In this way, a virus can actually be better for the product at large. That doesn't really excuse the practice, though, as it is pretty much intended as a defamatory attack on the developers through destroying users' systems. Of course, there are some people who will create and distribute a virus for kicks. Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers
September 6, 200619 yr There is ONE browser to take to a site that you don't trust... http://offbyone.com/offbyone/ob1_overview.htm No script, no applets, no flash. There are places this browser will not work (playing runescape through it would be a no-no), but it is probably the most invulnerable browser. Of course, Opera and Firefox tend to be safer than Internet exploder and considerably more functional than OB1.
September 6, 200619 yr I still can't figure out why people make and distribute viruses and spyware. Me either.. What do you get from destroying someone's computer? Other than them thinking of you as a total a*.. Yeah, I was tempted to go to the link my self at first, LOL. Me too, but I thought better of it before hitting enter.. :-$ Internet Marketing For Newbies
September 6, 200619 yr The site doesn't work... Can't... :? hold it... :-X ...in!  ...sorry if that was in bad taste. Anyway, fitzztif, you need to get some sort of anti-virus program going pronto.
September 6, 200619 yr I still can't figure out why people make and distribute viruses and spyware. I extremely dislike those who prey on innocent people misspelling a website URL.. horrible. Thanks for the heads up though. Spyware can and has made people literally millionaires. In 99% of the cases this is illegal, I can suggest you to research what spyware really does but I can't suggest anybody to try it for making a quick buck. :( You can get in trouble for distributing unsolicited spyware. What spyware does is that it for example loads a banner or text ad every time you write something related to.. Well, anything in your browser. Write "car", you get tons of ads related to "Buy your car insurance now!". Sounds cheesy, no? But when millions of people are shown these ads daily and some even buy the products, they don't know how to remove the spyware, the guy upkeeping the affiliate advertisements rakes in cash.

What site doesnt work? googlke or the XP forums talking about the various ports? According to the threads posted, googlke is fully active (if the site doesnt work, you have still downloaded 50 pieces of spyware through activex) as well as other fake sites similar to msn, lycos, and passport.
