Sly_Wizard
No offence to any of you people but i doubt that you can see the change.. you haven't been playing long enough I've been playing since around 2002, thank you very much : The bottom line is that we don't need higher level equipment, as the majority of Runescape can't even wield the (Current) best items available to them. The only reason why you think we need better equipment is because you can already wield the best. Practically speaking, there's no need for better equipment. Ngorge
I love this idea, and I think I would look rather snazzy in silver dhide armor or some such thing. That said, Jagex has a responsibility to ensure the game is somewhat balanced. Silver dhide, which needs 90 range to wield, would basically guarantee that any mage below lvl 90 wouldn't stand a chance. At this point the armor or the weapon, in a sense, overpowers stats. Yes, I know the stats are necessary to wield said item(s). Currently weapons and armor stratify players up until lvl 70 within range, melee, mage. Beyond that stats and luck decide who wins a battle. These new superweapons and armor nullify some of the luck and stats. A lvl 70 ranger in black dhide would stand virtually no chance against a lvl 90 ranger in silver dhide (or whatever that armor would be). Not only would the lvl 90 have the benefit of higher stats (and probably hitpoints), but added bonuses accrued to the lvl 90 armor. Currently a lvl 70 range would lose most of the time, but not all. Games cease being fun when the chance is completely removed and one can almost 100% of the time foretell outcomes. Whether these new higher level items would do that is hard to say, but it certainly is and should be a concern of Jagex's. I know Jagex is probably concerned about the vast amount of gp in the game, and the repairs on Barrow's armor and the great money vortex of construction were an attempt to siphon some of that from the game. Higher level armors or weapons, in the same vein as barrows, could be a further opportunity to remove gp from the game. If the cost was high enough it might mitigate some of the aforementioned problems.

malo2
This is why high leveled items aren't and never will be a jagex priority: The goal of jagex, as with any company, is to make so much money they start wiping their wagons with hundred-pound bills. To do so, they need to continue to attract NEW players to Runescape, which means they need to be constantly coming out with updates that almost everyone can utilize. High-leveled players are still a VAST minority in Runescape- the majority of players are a much lower level. So what do they really have to gain from putting out a superweapon? 3 less elite players quitting? Or can they put out a lower leveled update and attract 6 new memberships? And frankly, the number of people that QUIT due to a lack of uber-stuff you can probably count on your hands and toes. So quit complaining, and if they do come out with something elite, well, that's just gravy. Oh, and Chubb_Master's arbitrary judgement on whether or not lower leveled players have enough is just that- arbitrary.Youre quite wrong there, majority of players are free players that dont have anything, and most members can weild most of the best stuff, and alot of them can wield anything. Players who get bored due to the lack of good goals, quit by large amounts, so adding a super weapon would prevent a large amount of people from quitting. bedman
The idea is not bad... However it isnt original AT ALL. This has been suggested 100s of times before, and now because "famous" 3 hit U asks it, it should become reality. Hell no. I mean, this guy is pathetic. He's claiming that everyone who voted was positive for the idea, yet on the top of page two there are already two people saying the idea is bad. What does mr 3 Hit U say: "i'm not counting your vote, because you're not high lvled". PATHETIC. Haha, a few pages further: "your vote is not counted, simply because you are wrong" Two posts further: "vote not counted, because of no legit reason" What the hell? This way EVERYONE likes his idea. He seems like a dictator or something, cheating with the vote results... Sorry but I cant agree with such a selfish piece of scum, who cant look further than his own nose. Pretzel
heres a suggestion. what about a super armour, one that requires 80 or 90 in every combat skill (attack, strength, defence, range, mage and prayer) and offers very high defense in all areas and also gives strength and prayer bonuses. Think the best stats taken from every piece of armour and mixed into one. This could also be applied to a weapon also. Being able to be used with a controlled melee attack, an autocast spell and one of the two range option as well as a defensive style that could be added onto the mage or range to change it to focus or longranged respectively. It would be fairly overpowered, but it would give players a huge incentive and a great ability in fighting both monsters and players. These armours and weapons would have to be dropped by a majorly overpowered monster to make obtaining it extremely difficult. Maybe they would be attained like the fire cape, after defeating a huge onslaught of extremely powerful enemies. The huge problem with this is that is would break the combat triangle. Free to Player fo' life!99/99 skateboarding :pwhy dont you use this awesome thing i like to call common sense. Its done wonders for me, ive never been hacked, scammed or anything like that.
