After school you are chatting up some girls. "So, are you free next sat..." you are cut up my your mum yelling 'Jimmy, come on! I need to strap you into your booster seat!" Everyone is the school hears it, including the hot girl you finally plucked up the challenge to ask out. Your life becomes hell. :shock:

If you are sat in the back seat with no seatbelt you can crush the person sat infront of you between the chair and the dash. so while you might survive the impact, your friend or family member might not be so well off

I was going to come in here saying that I don't think there should be seatbelt laws, and that they should just become strictly recomended, but Merc brought up a good of enough point for me to change my mind.

 

 

 

 

 

Btw, they will never ban smoking. There still isn't good enough evidence that it can hurt others. Plus, it's too large of an industry to just ban, and would just show up on the streets and be sold all the same, just without any profit from the US/whatever.

 

 

 

There is masses of evidence about passive smoking being even more dangerous than smoking yourself, hence for example in Nordic countries they banned smoking in restaurants altogether because among the staff there would be a certain amount of cancer cases even though the employee did not smoke him/herself.

 

 

 

The financial thing is true though... Why would you want to give up a "legalized cocaine" business? Just as the government gets a round 0% (directly) from drug sales, it gets billions and BILLIONS of dollars in tax-income from cigarettes that are already one of the most if not *the* most heavily taxed products.

Wow...I just found out that Albosky lives in my state...Anyways, I don't really know if it's good or bad. I's obviously good because it could save lives, but i don't really understand how they came up with those measurements. I'm kind of short, probably 4'6" or something. I don't use a booster seat, yet I can see through the window without looking upwards. I gues I'll have o agree on what they're doing, as it could save a few lives. Like the airport security issue...Many people complain about it, but if you think about, it could save a lot of people.

So yeah, when you get past a certain age you most likely wont like a booster seat, but if you could get into the trouble with the cops because of it, I'd tell the kid to suck it up 8-) I don't doubt it's safety either.

ok first i dont live in the UK so i dont know 2 in my state(GA) you dont have to wear a seat belt in a truck so and so hight and i'm 10 and i sit in the frount seat(sorry bout the spelling)

we also have the same law, but it never effected me since the didnt enfore it asmuch as the do now

 

when i was under 4'9", i was in like 6th or 7th grade, but now im 5'11", so it dosnt effect me

 

its good that there enforcing it now, it to save lives, if i need to use one to save my life i would use it

 

 

 

the law in america is 4'9" so if your 4'10" your safe

Yeah i've heard a lot of different things about second hand smoke. I do agree with banning it in restaraunts / public buildings. Outdoors however I don't see a problem.

Do I really have to answer that? You seem to view yourself far too highly, your earlier posts were nonsensical, insensitive and poorly thought out. You can come down off your high horse now.

 

 

 

Anyway, I think that these new laws may seem nanny-stateish at first, but god knows how many lives they could save. It's just one of those changes which may seem ridiculous but really, is for the good of the children.
