September 18, 200619 yr well in England they have enforced new car seat rules as of today, and in my opinion they are ridiculous! they state that anybody under the heigt of 4'5" or the age of 12, whicever they reach first, muct sit in a child seat, the kind that you used to sit in.when you were 5. i think this is absolutely ridiculous as i know that a lot of year 7 students and even year 8's would have to wear one! how stupid is that! Sig by me....
September 18, 200619 yr !! The only law in America about that is that no person under 5' tall or 12 years old can ride in the front seat of a car. That's absolute . My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race. However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.
September 18, 200619 yr Right, to protect people. Next they'll be saying that anyone under the age of 21 will be forced to use plastic forks. You might stab your tonsils!! Ahaha! You can't bathe alone if you're younger than 18 years old. You might bump your head and drown. And from now on anyone under the age of 15 will have someone else chew their food for them because of the choking hazard. "Mom, can you open my window for me? It might implode and shatter glass into my retinas." My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race. However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.

So you would rather children suffered serious internal and neck injuries and possibly slip out from their seatbelt in a crash because they were using an adult seatbelt that is designed for, well, adults?
September 18, 200619 yr It isn't as ridiculous as it sounds, by 'car seat' they mean 'booster seat' - not like a baby seat. A booster seat just makes sure the seatbelt is passing over the right parts of the body, not cutting into the neck which can kill you in a crash. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
September 18, 200619 yr ...i know that a lot of year 7 students and even year 8's would have to wear one!.... uhhh fully fledged persons than can think for themselves...lol get some years on your shoulders and then complain about a thing that you might understand. *** [ END ]: You gained 1,671,000 thieving exp in 9mins 44secs. September 18, 200619 yr !! The only law in America about that is that no person under 5' tall or 12 years old can ride in the front seat of a car. Sorry but you are horribly misinformed , the laws vary by state http://www.inventiveparent.com/state-laws.htm Take my state Massachusetts for instance , Children under 40lbs or 5 years of age must be in a child seat , children up to 12 must be fastened in a seat belt IN THE BACK SEAT , everyone else , including adults must wear a seat belt at all times. And reading about the uk laws (new and old) as found here. The original poster is also misinterpeting the new law . The law states that children undren the age of 12 OR under 1.35meters tall must be secured in the "proper" child seat. It does not say that they have to be in an upright seat that straps around their body like an infant. There are many types of child restraints for all sizes/weights/heights . The size they are refering to is also known as a "booster" seat , which only raises the child off the actual car seatto technically make them "taller" . This allows the seatbelt to properly cross their shoulder and collar bone and prevent injury FROM the seatbelt. I'm not sure if you have kids , or if you are just whining because you are a kid yourself , but they dont make safety laws to piss kids off , or make them look stupid/embarrass them , whatever , they make them to save lives and prevent injury. I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theatersArd Choille says (11:41 PM):I wouldn't dare tell you what to do m'dear
September 18, 200619 yr People complained about how stupid passenger seatbelts were when they were made law. Now look at how many lives they have saved... Sorry but you are horribly misinformed , the laws vary by state Yeah well in MY state, Texas, I'm correct. Oh wait no, actually!! It says you only need a special car sear if you are under 5 years old or 3 feet tall. Apparently I was misinformed, but the actual truth only serves to prove my point further. Sorry if I lumped the laws of the country together. But isn't that what's great about the US? Would I go to Japan and there'd be different laws depending on what prefecture I was in? Probably not. Maybe I'm wrong .. prove me wrong. People complained about how stupid passenger seatbelts were when they were made law. Now look at how many lives they have saved... And do you think that saving lives is an honorable endeavour? No! In fact, the best way to combat over-population would be to reverse the law and make it illegal to wear a seatbelt when riding in a car. Are you aware that humanity doubles its population every generation, without fail? (excepting, of course, the exceptional [i.e. Black Plague]) In 20-30 years we'll be looking at a world population of 15 billion people. In 50 years we'll be looking at 30 billion people! Hahaha!! Can you imagine the effect on the environment?! 30 billion people spewing CO2 into the Troposphere! Average global temperature will skyroc*squirrel* I'm sorry I seem to have gotten a bit off subject. My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race. However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.
September 18, 200619 yr Whats your point Kashi, you appear to have no clue what you are talking about? Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. September 18, 200619 yr Whats your point Kashi, you appear to have no clue what you are talking about? Kashi, failed ramble. Either way I thought that rather strange myself when I heard that recommendation when I was like seven. My parents always told me to loop the belt under my arm instead of across my "shoulder" so that I wouldn't die in an accident, and then when I was tall enough I used the belt the normal way. handed me TWO tissues to clear up. I was like "i'm going to need a few more paper towels than that luv"
September 18, 200619 yr It's a rather bad idea to stick a shoulder belt under your arm, doing so can cause life threatening injuries in a crash. In that position it can damage your heart, lungs or other organs and break ribs. It also doesn't provide any upper body restraint so a crash can damage the spinal cord. Wearing it under the arm is against the law in some places. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
September 18, 200619 yr I don't know about you people, but if I was 5, I'd resist my parents trying to tie me to something that looks extremely stupid. If your friend saw you, at that age it can have big impact on your self esteem. If I or anybody else drives and there's a kid, I see no problem with the kid sitting in the back seat with a normal seatbelt. 'booster seat', not baby seat Well that solves the problem IMO. At first I thought 'baby seat' too, and for a first grader, that's [ahem] total humiliation. Thanks for the info :)
September 18, 200619 yr Kashi's weird :? Didn't he/she claim to have killed someone lol? Anyway I don't see the problem with it, it's just to help protect you :P
September 18, 200619 yr The exemptions are also confusing, unclear if it covers journeys which are short OR occasional, short AND occasional, and how such things would be defined. People should be allowed to take responsibility for their safety, and for those in their care. After all, smoking is know to be harmful, so if "big brother" is going to dictate our safety, smoking and all smoking materials should be banned immediately.

After all, smoking is know to be harmful, so if "big brother" is going to dictate our safety, smoking and all smoking materials should be banned immediately. The point is that if you are unrestrained and you are in a car crash you are virtually a organic projectile, you could shoot straight through your windscreen and through someone elses that is following the law and kill them. I agree, smoking should be banned. To kashi, your idea on banning wearing seatbelts is just plain stupid, so don't even bother continuing it, ok?
September 18, 200619 yr If you are sat in the back seat with no seatbelt you can crush the person sat infront of you between the chair and the dash. so while you might survive the impact, your friend or family member might not be so well off Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. September 18, 200619 yr If you are sat in the back seat with no seatbelt you can crush the person sat infront of you between the chair and the dash. so while you might survive the impact, your friend or family member might not be so well off That's a good point. I was going to come in here saying that I don't think there should be seatbelt laws, and that they should just become strictly recomended, but Merc brought up a good of enough point for me to change my mind. Btw, they will never ban smoking. There still isn't good enough evidence that it can hurt others. Plus, it's too large of an industry to just ban, and would just show up on the streets and be sold all the same, just without any profit from the US/whatever.
September 18, 200619 yr Author actually if you read what somebody said, most people find that a booster seat is worse, and that it still cuts into your neck, meaning most parents say to tuck it under your arm...in a high speed crash chances are that could range problems from being winded, to ribs collapsing into lungs, how is that good? Anybody from England watch Dragons Den last week? somebody fixed that problem, he'll get rich now! lol Sig by me....
September 18, 200619 yr smoking while driving is forbidden in my country because it distracts you. same with talking on a cell phone without a head set or even just dialing a number
