It's wrong, it's disgusting, it's SELFISH. Ok, the story is 99% likely not to be true. I'm not saying it is, but can you say it's doesn't matter? Of course it does. You live in a different part of the world, you live in a place where you can go to school and everything is different. You think it's ok because its not going to happen to you. Just imagine going through complete torture as I'm sure those poor bears would have done if the story was true. No, go ahead and don't care. So I googled for "bear gallbladder bile" and I did get a LOT more hits than I ever expected, from various sources. Checking some of those hits out, at least to me it seems to be true that bear bile is in fact used in Chineese medicine, and that bear farms do excist, in addition to hunting of wild bears for bladders and other parts - and that the black bear is an endangered species due to this. If the cruelty described is true or not I dont know. Please think before you ask a question. If you cant accept that then your an ignorant fool (and believe me alot of people I talk to can't). Therefore other animals should not be treated with disrespect. Would you say, "That bear was wrong for eating that salmon who only wanted to swim upstream so he could breed! He doesn't deserve to live!"? Animals don't treat each other with respect, so if humans are merely animals, we don't have any reason to treat them with respect either. But, it doesn't excuse the fact that we control most of this earth, not bears or fish or whatever. Since people make assumptions about my beliefs fairly often on this board, I'm going to preface this with a disclaimer saying that I'm not taking a stand on animals testing with this post. With that said... Here's my problem with your point. You imply that you only support animal testing for something is critical to humans, aka, saving a human life. But there are plenty of things that I'm sure you support that aren't critical to your life, but you like - and animals were slighted in order to make them. Let's take belts for instance. Belts aren't critical at all and I guarantee that making a belt you have worn affected an animal in some way. I think it's absolutely absurd when people say they only support animal testing for things that are "critical" because in almost every case, things that aren't critical (like scented lotion) are only pointed out if the person making the statement doesn't use the product. My bet is you don't use a lot of scented lotion and so in your opinion, we shouldn't be hurting animals to make more. But I bet you do like hamburgers, and the different ways you can get a hamburger made probably went through a lot of tests before the company found one that tasted good. Dolphins do it to sharks and then eat their livers (killing them) if a shark messes with them. Couldn't tell you why a cat slaps around a mouse, but I've never seen a cat slap around a live mouse. I've never seen them actually even EAT a mouse either, but *shrug*. My cat I had used to just kill them then slap them around for a while.
