Here on tip.it there should be a topic of the day...

 

Every day the staff at tip.it find a good topic and they Global Anounce it in every forum...Then by a persons post count there should be a count of how many good topics that person has. So instead of working hard for post count they could work hard for good topics and there would be less spam here.

 

What do you think about this idea?

I like the idea - it could use some perfecting (for example, maybe topic of the week rather than of the day?) and it may be worth implementing. I've always liked the idea of showing off topics that are more popular than others. I'm a member of other gaming communities that have weekly "newsletters" of sorts that consist of links to threads that were popular that week. It was nice because I didn't have to visit the forum daily to find the "juicy stuff" but rather wait for the thread with all the links. :)

I'd say no to a global announcement though for them though. Boards like off topic, m&m or tech don't need them. Plus I think there are way too many stickies in many boards as it is.

i think its quite a good idea..but picking them could cause alot of people to get sad hoping that it would get picked :cry:. it would possibly turn into like a competition....

Hmm, this idea seems pretty good. You could even mail out lightweight versions of the tip.it times too with every tip.it newsletter... :)

Yeah me and Mullein made some rants that were good 'rant of the week' There wasn't one given that title every week, more like once every couple months when a good rant was made.

 

 

 

Also some authors didn't like their topic being stickied there as it seems stickies get overlooked by the users.

I doubt anyone would get sad. But competitiveness for making the best thread would be a great thing. To what someone else said, I think tying the topic of the week to each new tip it times would be a great thing. A little forum advertisement in each tip it times to draw in more users, reading an interesting title and delving into it.

Sounds good.. Maybe if it was weekly that'd be better. :P

Maybe make it similar to wikipedia's "Featured Article" thing they do?
