Religion bashing. I hear it way to often. If all are right... then who̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s wrong... if someone is actually wrong... then not everyone is right... so who do you listen to? Why the hell is anyone trying to convert someone anyway? "You have to believe as I do because I believe it?" What a load... people tend to be emotional hate filled creatures who lash out at anything different... lack of honor and respect for one another̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s existence and right to believe what they want to believe is a sign of immaturity / youth... why the hell does everyone have to be the same? Got news for you... as long as there are humans with our current anthropological development no one is going to ever totally agree and if by some freak of nature the planets all align and we all agree for a moment, that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s all it will ever be̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ just a moment (assuming people survive another 5000 years or so).

Live your life̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ life is short̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ do something productive and bring pleasure to the life of others and your time spent here (and I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t mean by converting people to your way of thinking) will bring more joy to those you care about and yourself as well. Unless your just an immature moron hell bent on satisfying an aggressive hateful emotional response because of an inability to grow emotionally and or intellectually. Quit trying to change those in the world to your ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åimage̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

When you have something people have such an attachment to, they tend to act that way. They believe their religion is right - and they're betting all their energies they put into it that it's the right one to get them into heaven. And everyone thinks they're right, so basically the only thing they'll believe that their religion is the only path to salvation or whatever. Just another example of the harm associated with religion that's caused. It has it's good sides but when people are tied to such extremes to a religion, you can bet they'll get overly passionate about it and do stupid irrational emotionally charged things.

Interestingly enough, even though you're sick of religious bashing, you feel free to bash those religions which teach evangelism. What an interesting paradox.

Keeping your thoughts amongst yourself and amongst people who share your thoughts is one thing, but promoting your thoughts- by going door to door and bashing other religions is another.

If you truely (sp) believe your religion is right, then everyone will run to you on their knees. Other than that, I dont apperciate people coming to my door trying to press their beliefs on me... It leaves me very uncomfortable.

You can argue that those religions who do go out to convert people are actually trying to help them. You see, they actually believe that their religion is going to get them into heave so what they want to do it help other people get into heaven too. It's the meaning behind the action, not the action itself. If you were to bash the religions who are just trying to increase their members so that they can gain more money, then you might have a case.

^^ I guess it could be seen that way. But I am too a firm believer of my religion. I have my own morals and beliefs. I feel it as an invasion when Im subjected to someone like that.

I see it your way though. I guess Im too analytical. :-k

Not everyone is right.

Example: I religiously believe that eating nails is good for me.

In this case there IS a right and a wrong. Obvisiouly if I believed that I would be wrong.

This reminds me of something. Recently the pope of Catholicism refered to an ancient quote saying that Muslism are prone to violence and reacting violently. Muslims were so upset by this quote that they . . . reacted violently . . .

. . .

*cough*

. . .

*COUGH!*

Anyway, my belief is that there kinda sorta maybe a God out there or whatever, but that you can't really prove or disprove that he exists. I mean, if you could really prove that God exists or disprove it, then God's handiwork would have to be pretty shoddy.

I also live by a code of non-violence (RS doesn't count) and a respect for life. I don't need a religion to tell me to do those things. They are my own. I've sorta always followed that. To me it's just common sense, I've never do any intentional physical harm to blah blah blah I'm boring you so I'll stop typing now.

We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.

I know, right? What a great way to prove you're NOT actually a violent religion...Shooting, rioting, burning things and making death threats! If I remember correctly, some people over there in Iraq or something executed some Catholic nun's and then had their little riots and whatnot. Violent? Uh, yea. Good show, Muhammed.

I just get bugged by people trying to convert you...I don't understand WHY they want/care about converting you...Like they think they're getting extra points with God for every person they convert, lol.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

Didn't you know tigra? God keeps a scoreboard up :). Every bad thing you do you get -1 point, every good thing you do (recruiting people :D) you get +1 point.

I don't get it why do threads like this always have to attract flaming.

What does it hurt you to accept other people's beliefs and instead of mocking them, bringing them joy? I don't belong to a religion. Still I study a lot of them out of curiosity. I never told anybody his/her religion is wrong.

If you think your religion is right, then keep it to yourself, or if you want to debate it, tell other people why you think so. "I just do" is not a solid basis of belief, but then again, if it really is for you, I won't make fun of you. You made up your mind because of many variables in your life, and that's your life.

people tend to be emotional hate filled creatures who lash out at anything different... lack of honor and respect for one another̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s existence and right to believe what they want to believe is a sign of immaturity / youth

That's so true. Sadly a huge amount of people never get past the immature stage emotionally, and fail to show any signs of honor or respect during their lives. Look, it doesn't HURT YOU to respect other people. If their beliefs are so strong and it means the world to them, stop mocking them or telling "my religion is the right one". There's no such thing as of yet.

I dont think I knocked on your door. You decided to enter my post and reply. I am not pressing anything on you. You dont have to read anything I type, you made the choice to do that.

And whats wrong in saying "be productive, bring pleasure"? Isn't that a civil duty? Are you strongly against bringing joy to those you care about and yourself aswell?! I dont understand.. Am I in the wrong here?

I now see the paradox I presented, but promoting happiness isn't nessicarily promoting my beliefs, because its a common goal.

Instead of pressing your beliefs on a stranger, keep it with yourself and dont come to my door.

Can anyone tell that I had a really bad experience with a door to door religion pusher? Really bad.

I'm glad you see your paradox. But you aren't just promoting happiness, you're promoting how you think we should achieve happiness - which is what a door to door religion salesman is doing. I think Christianity is the way to achieve happiness, what's wrong with me trying to promote that? I think true Christianity will bring joy and happiness, shouldn't it be my civil duty to promote that?

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, I've had them too. But just get over it.

I didn't mock you; by your words I mocked Muslims, Jews, Jehovah's witnesses, Buddhists, Taoists, The church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and countless others.

I really didn't. I was just presenting you with my opinion: There is no right religion. You don't have to accept it, but other than on an emotional basis, there can be no "true" belief of anything which can't be proven to exist.

Go tell a Buddhist or Muslim your religion is right. They will have a differing opinion; Nobody can be right in this argument because all 3 parties only have opinions and beliefs, not black on white hard evidence. Thus all 3 should respect each other.

But I have no problem with you being a christian (or if you are a member of some other religion and you were just using an example) and I strongly think you are entitled to believing whatever you want especially if it makes you happier. 8-)

I didn't say you mocked me - I said that you told me I was wrong without me ever mocking you. You want me to quit telling people that my religion is right (as said in your first post) but you are allowed tell me that my religion isn't right? That's the problem I'm having.
