October 1, 200619 yr It's a lovely sunday evening here. Ready to go to school tomorrow.. I was just wondering. Happens to more more often, but this time I found it worth posting. Members have a few skills. And lots of extras. BUT! .. 2 members skills are often to be unused by players. I'm talking about construction and farming. Farming especially on products besides trees and herbs. There is simply not enough production of fruits etc. In last article, the discussion started about the influance of cooking actually being a skill, which requires gathering of ingredients and effort to cook it. Or that it's holding a raw fish over a fire and be done. If Jagex is ever to get cooking that way, shouldn't there be an increase in fruits and other products made by farming or something. Butter is always been a problem. It is quite a task to gather milk and create butter. Quite a time consuming task. If certain ingredients were to be made F2P or partial of farming: -the skill would be increasivly more popular, farming that is. -You would make the F2P community so much happier. -Members would now be able to buy ingredients, so they can more easily create higher level, complex food. With boosts and nice amounts of healing In my eyes, this should be a win-win situation for jagex .. F2P and members. Although there should be considered taht members do not like F2P updates. And I fully respect that. Also note: Partial of farming means only fruits and less usefull items of farming which can be used in cooking. Most members don't plant potatoes and other fruits as they are time consuming etc. For those who say that most items can also be gathered from fields. The ingredients have the requirement to be player farmed and not picked.
October 1, 200619 yr The only reason I don't farm that often is the lack of ways to gather seeds. It's a nice skill, but I don't feel like thieving for hours just so I get the seeds I need and farm again. :-k "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. October 1, 200619 yr I think farming is a great skill, however, how will f2p get the seeds? monster drops? think about it a bit more..
October 1, 200619 yr Author I think farming is a great skill, however, how will f2p get the seeds? monster drops? think about it a bit more.. Hmm, good point you have there. Thieving from the master farmer is not an option. I guess monster drops is the best way. You won't get a huge amount of seeds that way in the game as you would have gotten with shops. Also the seeds should be medium drops. Not high as members fight moss giants and lesser demons aswell. But skeletons and zombies are nice monsters for these kind of drops. And I repeat it once again: Only certain, lower level products can be produced with farming. Not herbs or trees. They remain members object's.
October 1, 200619 yr :D Now thats a good idea, after Jagex took away the rune essence commerce between P2P and F2P, they're has pretty much been one way trades from P2P to F2P, with very little going the other way. And F2P could really use another skill, they have been pretty starved for updates for years (the stronghold of security and related items are horrible, the tutors are ok) and I think it would be nice of Jagex to give them more items. However, I doubt it will happen since Jagex has a strict no good new F2P stuff policy.
October 1, 200619 yr We need new produce. Jagex hasn't released any since they released farming. 99 Crafting Blog
October 2, 200619 yr I think we should be able to grow cocoa beans and make our own chocolate. This would be on a special farm somewhere, and involve growing plant, picking beans (similar to fruit), leaving beans to ripen (takes 30 mins), and then making the chocolate. I can't remember how it's made 'cos the last time I went to Cadbury World was ages ago. Anyway, you could put these farms in Karamja, where it's hot. Maybe in the middle of the banana plantation or close to the volcano. There's loads of wasted space in Karamja. I helped on the Black Knight's Fortress Quest Guide. Stop messaging me in game! All I did was say BKs are lvl 33, not 31! All skills to level 30!

Like Izzy suggested, cocoa would make a nice addition as well as flax, wheat, peppers, carrots, turnips, leeks, radishes and more. The bolded produce is in the game already; we just can't grow it. :notalk: "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. October 2, 200619 yr i would defiantely farm more often and use the items for cooking if the items to be grown just didnt take so long. i dont get alot of time to play the game, so i can can only be on a for about an hour a day if im lucky. i dont have the time to sit around for, what, like 370ish minutes waiting for a tree to grow. i dont have time to stand next to my patch, watering it and feeding it plant cure for 35 minutes waiting for an allotment to grow, when that is half of my play time, all for abou half a dozen cabbages that i could pick in 10 seconds. why should i wait so long when instead i could be out questing, killing things, thieving, hanging out with friends, or doing whatever else i have to do. thats basically my only complaint on the subject. that and that the farm stores dont ever buy any vegetable that ive tried to sell them for any reasonable price. I couldn't care less if he was Andrew Gower himself, I just don't like arrogant smegheads. *in the voice of the comic book guy from the simpsons* best. quote. EVER!

Exactly my point! Lots of members are to 'lazy' (excuse me for my choice of words) to harvest the in general known rubish crops. While these rubbish crops could be used in farming. Let F2P do it, so we get a more healthy economic and the most important part. Let Jagex make steps towards the new form of cooking which is based on collection ingredients and recipes, instead of cooking fish. F2P is used of doing the less fun work for P2P, see chopping yews, mining coal and iron and air runes. You name it.. we make it (If we can) My intention about this is not to give F2P new updates. It is creating an economic situation and community in which the new form of cooking should be capable of holding itself up, instead of collapsing as construction or farming.
October 2, 200619 yr why dont they make farming a half f2p skill like runecrafting? runecrafting is good and all as a member, but for free world it pretty much dries up after lvl 20-25 i dont care if free world gets updates, because, free world gets updates means we get updates. and if theirs more free world stuff, guess what? puts a demand on members to introduce these items into f2p maple bows became f2p some time ago, until then only members could make them and i dont think they could be bought from a shop.
October 2, 200619 yr maple bows became f2p some time ago, until then only members could make them and i dont think they could be bought from a shop. You can buy them from the range shop in varrock :| Respect- Oy_the_Great, Lode, Bubsa, Weezcake, Thrash111, Gloric, Vmser, Pianofrieak2, Runemetsa Sigs Made By - Pink

October 2, 200619 yr Sounds good to me.. the only thing that I can think of farming being useful for is Summer Pies.. but you can buy them from a shop anyway I think - and even if you cant.. a lot of people dont have the right level to make them. Jagex needs something along the lines of summer pies, but mid level, as well as higher level end of the table. That way there would actually be a reason to keep things like sweetcorn (I know there's potatoe's.. but theyr're a major hassel to make), tomato's, and strawberries etc. 92/99 Fishing | 119/120 Combat | 92/99 Firemaking | 94/99 Fletching | 1878/1900 Total | 85/85 Slayer | 80/80 Prayer
October 2, 200619 yr I'll support more produce in farming and some f2p involvement! New updates should focus more on making underrated skills more popular!

You said that Jagex needs something along the lines of summer pie. And that is what the possible introduction of ' The new cooking' should bring in. Along with this, farming could be made partial F2P. So the first thing, before we continue to discuss the possibilties of giving F2P a little bit of farming, how should the new cooking skill be worked out. A few possibilities that came to my mind: - Decrease the healing capabilities of fish. All fish gets -2 HP healing. Shrimps should still be healing 2 or still 3 and anchovie shouldn't be made eatable. This creates room for high level food that does heal 20-22 and requires ingredients and high level in 'A new cooking skill.' -Simply introduce 'The new cooking skill' and divide the excisting forms of food between Fish cooking and Chef cooking. (as I like to call it for now). Fish cooking has all the fish you catch. And Chef cooking all the pies, stews etc. Ofcourse, a tuna potatoe requires a tuna to be cooked, aswell as the chef cooking skill to actually finish it. A high level food which requires 2 skills to be leveled up. Also new foods should be made into the game and levels at which you can cook them are altered. Any more thought are always welcome :) Ideas and opinions please
