Is attack > strength or vice versa?

Well he picture above is one of my old stats, obviously you can see that there is a difference between the attack and strength levels as well as the between strength and defence. This was purposely done when this account was trained as i thought that more strength would give an advantage during P v P combat. But now that i think back to it wouldnt smarter to devolp more attack that would allow me to hit more often. So personally with the addition of barrows gloves is it now more benefital to train more attack then strength and defense?

I personally like to keep attack and strength around the same. What is the point of having a high max hit if you barely ever get it? I think that you should train attack as well as strength, but not really one over the other. Defense is all personal preference. I like all my combat stats around the same level though, so I train it as well.

Well if ur a 60at pure u have no choice really, but i do agree that now with all these extar bonuses we can aquire these days we can hit very hgih at a low str lvl and with high att and what i just said is a leathal combination.

att and str are equal..kinda

when im usually +3 att over my str, i hit high, alot.

yet i see people, with drastically lower attack (75 sometimes) and they obliterate me due to their str being so high.

so as much as i hate to admit it, str > att (although, i have made stats refletching off att > str)

For most people I think that strength would be better... then there's a small chunk of people that know how great defence is, and it would be better to train attack. People don't get that strength isn't all that great. It's not going to do anything if you can't hit.

While obviously both are important, it is best to train each of them. Personally I train both (although there is a perticularly large gap between them.)

Damage over time > Damage from a single hit

Although don't make the mistake of counting out def, it has a surprising effect on your dodging ability.

But DoT doesnt always beat D from one hit.

The way the combat system is set up, you could get lucky for 5 hits in a row and KO your opponant, which is why pkers want their str so much higher than their attack.

It all depends, str is better than attack in situations where the other player has low def or crappy armour, with a decent attack level the low def player will get owned.

If your against a player with high def then attack is better as you'll hit more often.

Against a balanced player it is good to have slightly higher attack IMO.

In conclusion as players in the wildy are likely to have low def it is better to have higher strength.

You are quite right, if your str is a considerable amount higher than your att then obviosly you will have the advantage since you can hit mich greater than sombody else at your level. Although remember that you can just as easily miss 5 times rather than hit, while a person with high att has a greater chance of their attacks connecting. There are advantages and dis-advantages for both.

In PvP you want the best [bleep]e damage you can get, while in PvM you want damage over time. Since I hate PK, I go for damage over time.

Exactally, therefore the best thing to do is to max att and str out and not worry about it XD

i say attack and str are equally important, over time both high atk or high str will result in more damage so train both.

i'm focusin on gettin str to 99 first so i vener have to look at a scimmy again but thats just me.

defence is to be balanced with what you have for food and what your fighting. i'm killin dusties and bones to peaches covers my food easy so i'm not worried about what my defence lvl is, its apparently high enough.

my site(not much on it yet :p)

the reason you need high str is to hit high and do more damage then they can heal with food. Your never going to kill anyone hitting 18s pretty often. but if u hit 25s and u hit two or three good numbers in a row then you kill them. But without high str your going to have to wait till they run out of food to kill them

Well right now my attack is 8 lvls lower than my str my max hit is 22, I consistanly hit 12-16s

Well i guess with 99 str, and 91 att you hit fine cuz you hit so much, but 80 att and 75 str is better than 75 att and 80 str.

but was this during pvp? Cuz you hit less in pvp :shame:

In my opinion strength is for the wildy and attack is for everywhere else. The wild is different than everywhere else in that your target can escape. You don't have the luxury of pounding constant 10-20s to drain their hp/food; you need to get a KO before they escape. High hits have a much better chance of fast kills. The opposite is true everywhere else. With 99 attack and 70 strength you will do more damage over time than you will get with 70 attack and 99 strength PROVIDED THAT YOUR TARGET IS NOT SOFT! If your target has no defense or low defense then attack is pointless. No amount of attack will make you hit higher than 100% and 90-95% is essentially pointless. So wild = strength, no/low def target = strength, all the rest = attack.

My stats have changed from normal since PC debued. I am raising my strength to 98-99 at PC and then using my whip to raise attack and then defense on slayer tasks. It is basically impossible to get that kind of strength xp anywhere else in the game and the speed and power of the whip for training is undeniable.

Defense is the tool you use to deal with those strength pures. Strength pures usually have low attack and, if they never hit due to your defense, can't use their best weapon effectively. Pures are the best anti-pure, lol. Other than that, you want your defense high enough to wear what you need and to survive what you are fighting long enough to make it worthwhile. Not taking pvp into account, there is no real reason to have a defense level over 70 until you get into the 90s for offense UNLESS you have your heart set on taking out the kbd, kq, dks, no-pray barrows consitantly, etc. Your normal monster can't really take 70 defense out that well. The big daddios, however, were MADE for 99 defense. :3>
