Matthewlock
I was called a 'noob'. Is this offensive? Should I report this player? Calling other players a 'noob' is quite common in most online games. It's not something to worry about as it means 'new player'. Every player has to be a 'noob' at some point. The best thing to do is to ignore them. If you suffer serious abuse such as receiving racist remarks, harassment or obscene and vulgar language, please report them to us using the in-game Report Abuse button which can be found at the bottom of the game window. Not everyone were noobs (like me), just newbs. Siggie needs work.
PkMARIO
For them noob means new player... They may want to make people think noob isn't as bad as people make it look, but it's not that way PkmarioPorygon 64Black Charlizard
Nul_Oblivion
The players were the ones that differentiated 'noob' from 'newb'. I honestly don't see the difference other than the spelling. Both of them ultimately give off the same effect to me anyway. Bottom line, just ignore it. Be happy and play the game. :D Retired Member

Iantiger
The players were the ones that differentiated 'noob' from 'newb'. Exactly. Noob used to mean exactly the same as newb, but it was developed to mean something different, mainly through the overuse and misuse of the term. Much like the term 'literally' in real life today - it is now wrongly used as another word for 'actually', when in fact 'literally' means 'to be written down in literature'. For example, someone might say 'I literally got up and punched him' which is misuse of the word. ~Ian Retired Tip It Moderator | Zybez Radio DJ - Listen Here

Lord_Serene
I get called a noob, when I am mining and don't have time to share the rocks... Now what I would call a noob is someone who does something like this: I got another good story myself... I was on f2p for a few months. At this point in time I was combat 103. Some ignorant player called me a hacker, I obviously answered, "how do I hack?" After no response for a minute, I asked again, "I'm still wondering how I hack"...turns out he thought the highest possible combat level was 99. Anyways, last month I logged onto rs and I just happened to have some mail. I thought to myself, what in the world could they want with me? So I log out, go to the home page and check my message to find what? Three messages from jagex...one telling me I've been reported for "encouraging others to break rules" and the other two telling me I have recieved TWO black marks. I was so confused at this. So of course I read over the evidence and sent in my appeal telling them the exact thing I stated above, that he called me a hacker cause he thought the highest possible combat level was 99 and that I was simply asking for that answer... Anyway, my appeal got denied FIVE MINUTES LATER...kind of quick to get to my appeal (if you ask me I think something they got up there at Jagex automatically denied my appeal or something)...want to know the reason??? "We have conclusive evidence that you were in control of your account at the time of the report." ...uhm...thanks for denying my appeal......even though I never said I didn't have control of the account... And that is my story...still got my marks...kind of upsets me that I only got one chance to get them taken off and it was ruined by someone or something that can't comprehend my side of the story, my defense. *EDIT* Whatever happened to the rule that you get banned for falsely reporting, hmm? stingkid
is it just me or is everyone spelling n00b wrong...Yep, definetely you. But yes, I never get called a "noob" for not doing things right. Just when someone offers me something, they accept, I accept, they deny. Varriations of the word ensue. -.- Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, your commodity drops in value. Varriations of the word ensue. -.- i've noticed this too, it's kind of sad that people have nothing better to do with their lives but offer rune stuff to low levels and deny at the last screen, and then barrage them with insults. I'm in the "The two words mean different things" camp, simply because many people act childish and immature, and in the case of FPSes and the like, act like they don't know what they are doing, but pretend to know exactly what they are doing, and new players don't know what they are doing because they are unused to the game, but seek help and do not generally act like an idiot. Besides the different spellings deserve different pronounciations. \ (for noob, stress the oo part. and for newb, the ew should sound similar to ewe. at least that's how i say it :P) RAVE BREAK! bionicl00
I'm serious, when it first happened it was spelled n00b with two zeroes, not o's. It originated way way waaaay before runescape was conceived in the late 90's. (Yes runescape development began before 2000) The first time I heard it was in Evercrack-I mean Everquest but I know it's older and it was spelled with the zeros there :-k Rs name: bionicl00 (00 is 2 zeros)F2P forever!
