fgfuyfyuiuy0
It's a new episode of South Park that aired on Wednesday, October 19, 2006. Pretty good episode. If someone who's reading this haven't seen it, I'd recommend it. It's about Ike (Kyle's younger brother) has a relationship with his Kindergarden teacher. It's pretty funny. But on to the topic: I was wondering if any of you might of thought if something like this might ever happen. I know cops might take it more seriously (In real life), but think about if this was happening to a Kindergardner instead of a 13 yr. old, who might know what was going on. But it seems odd in today's society when teachers can do something bad, and blame it on alcohol. My 8th grade teacher once told a kid, during class, that he could beat the (Insert bad word here) out of him, and blame it on alcohol, and take a few classes, and go back to teaching. I was wondering, if any of you thought, that the law might let things pass just on the blame of alcohol. It doesn't seem fair to some extent, but maybe only if the person was actually under the influence, or really does have an alcoholic problem. The reason why I brought this up, for some who may not remember or know, is because in South Park, the teacher gets away with having sexual intercourse/relationship with her student, and blamed it on the use of alcohol, so she and the student could be together, and that she wouldn't have to go to jail. Please, write your thoughts below, but I say that it shouldn't be a "Get out of jail; Free-card" for blaming it on alcohol. They should get help, and spend their time in jail. I just really think that alcohol isn't the problem, it's the people. They could've had control, and if they couldn't, then they really do need help. But what they did is wrong, and just because they "might" be an addict doesn't give them the excuse. They hurt someone, and therefore, they need to be punished for what they did. They shouldn't just be let off the hook. Please, post your opinions below. I <3 Gears of War 2. Adam007
I haven't seen the episode, but it sounds great that South Park's making satire out of one of America's biggest problems. People don't take responsibility over anything, and if they have any excuse, they'll use it. That goes with courts primarily (people suing over spilling mcdonalds coffee on themselves, all of those kinds of trials). Just in general people tend to never take responsibility. Just like the episode made parody of, people will blame a problem on something, and often the case is they're not viewed responsible for it, when really they should be. In no case should someone be given a get out of jail free card like you mentioned. People with such psychological problems should be put into institutes to have their problems fixed before such events happen in the first place. If they don't get better, they stay, because they're a threat to society. If they do get better and get out of the institute, they're accountable. Easy as that. logic-is-overrated
I think you missed the main point of the show. It's a really long story so I'll just post the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/10/nyreg ... wanted=all In summary, Diane Cherchio West was a lady who worked in some school and she had a history of molesting children. Even after being caught and jailed she was still allowed to go back to work at the school and continued to molest children. They were criticizing the hipocrasy of a lot of peoples views on pedophiles. I don't know if that made sense or not but it's late so give me a break. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
Icingdeath
Niiiiiice. I took this episode as pure comedy, and thought it was pretty great how the police responded...most of my friends said the exact same thing when that kid told on his teacher. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways. I didn't miss the whole point of the show, I was just basing it off that one point. Teacher's are allowed to use the "Alcohol" excuse to get out of stuff. It's happened before and it will happen again. I wasn't basing it off the whole show, but off the point of what happened. I <3 Gears of War 2. That wasn't the point at all. The alcohol part was just to make fun of Mel Gibson. The point is that some teachers aren't found guilty because they are hot. Zonorhc
You know, everytime I read something like this, part of my esteem for the US dies. I know that if a teacher here tried to dodge responsibility by blaming alcohol, they'd get more than a scolding and a remedial class. The fact that they're under the influence of alcohol while still maintaining a duty of care to their charges is enough to remove them from the profession entirely. Some things simply shouldn't be allowed to happen, but I guess that no matter how much you think that there can only be so much stupid in the world, someone will prove you wrong. On the case of wanting to avoid responsibility, I give you the school that banned tag. "So many near misses," they say. Faux
They made fun of every person who use rehabs as a back up. And the recent controversies about female teachers having sex with their students. I think the one before that was much better though. The explanation Cartman gave was just gold. Cartman: So now, the inevitable question: if terrorists didn't cause 9/11, who did? [he begins to use his fingers to to show the numbers as he says them] Remember that there are in fact two towers. Two minus one is one; one one - 11; two minus one is one; one one, and there are nine members on Silverstein's board of directors. That's nine-one-one. Nine-eleven. And take 2 - 1 + 9/11 and you get 12, which leads us all to the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. [click. Kyle now appears superimposed on the 9/11 picture already onscreen].Kyle! Kyle: Me?? Cartman: Twelve contains the numbers one and two, just like the toilet yesterday where womebody went number two instead of number one! And one and two with 911 and you get 914! Drop the 4 and it's 91! Exactly the score Kyle got on his spelling test twelve days after 9/11! Who has the most to gain from 9/11?! Kyle! Who was nowhere to be found the morning the towers fell?! Kyle! Who dropped the deuce in the urinal?! Kyle! But probably the most damning of all is the evidence seen in this photo of Tower 2! [clicks, and another shot of the Twin Towers is shown] When I zoomed in I saw what first appeared to be a blur, [he zooms in on the picture, which just becomes pixilated] but when I computer-enhanced it, [the pixilation disappears as the picture sharpens - it's a drawing of an evil Kyle with a large, sharp knife in his right hand] You almost got away with it, you sneaky butthole. Not to mention Bush's Bush: Yes. Quite simple to pull off, really. All I had to do was have explosives planted in the base of the towers. Then on 9/11 we pretended like four planes were being hijacked.when really we just rerouted them to Pennsylvania, then flew two military jets into the World Trade Center filled with more explosives, then shot down all the witnesses of Flight 93 with an F-15 after blowing up the Pentagon with a Cruise missile. It was only the world's most intricate and flawlessly-executed ever, ever. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Anesthesia
My 8th grade teacher once told a kid, during class, that he could beat the (Insert bad word here) out of him, and blame it on alcohol, and take a few classes, and go back to teaching. In the UK there is no way that could be true. If you have any conviction for violence you can never be a teacher. As for the law here regarding alcohol - voluntary intoxication is no defence. Involuntary intoxication can be a defence. Voluntary intoxication involving soporific or prescribed drugs can also be a defence. As far as I can remember, it is several years since I did law. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
Faux
There's also this quote that made me laugh from the episode before the last one: Kyle: So wait, wait: Stan took a dump in the urinal and he contacted the conspiracy Web site? But the conspiracy site was run by the government? Stan: Yuh. Kyle: So then, who was responsible for 9/11? Stan: Whattaya mean? A bunch of pissed-off Muslims. Frank: Yeah. Nadril
Yeah this recent episode and the last one were great. Deffinitly much better than the stuff from the first half of season 10. :) . pro28
(people suing over spilling mcdonalds coffee on themselves, all of those kinds of trials) Bad example. That case is actually legitimate. The coffee was able to cause third degree burns in less than 5 seconds. But it's pretty much impossible to fire a teacher, no matter how bad they are at their jobs. That's one of the problems why America has such a bad educational system.

Not mentioning the fact that McDonald's have known about this in years. I studied this in Law last year, and the coffee was so hot, it compromised the integrity of the cup. When the woman took the top off of the cup, the cup collapsed. It was known that McDonalds made their cups this way in order to cut costs.

Randox
In the Canadian public school system a teacher can be sued for physical contact. I had a teacher who 2 years previously was almost sued for breaking up a fight. The faimlies decided not to press charges as the teacher had likly saved one of the kids life, or prevented permanent injury)
